    My head-canon for 47287 follows the same history as real life and the books until her withdrawal in 1964. Instead of being scrapped, The Fat Controller purchased her to be the Barrow station pilot for the NWR until 1967 when Duck was given his branch line. 47287 was then transferred to Tidmouth to become the new station pilot where she still works to this day.

    I’ve always had a soft spot for Jinty having owned a Triang 47606 since I was about 5. She’s been repainted several times and lightly detailed. She now has an Airfix 1001 5 pole motor and is still a firm favorite after 52 years in service. The Railway series and the Triang R52 must be what made the Jinty so popular.

    Looks like we now know what the Jinty is... How unfortunate... Though if I were to include him in my Take of the NWR, I'd have Sir Topham Hatt learn of Jinty's withdrawal and buy him for his Railway, to later replace Duck as Tidmouth Station Pilot in 1967. Now that..., would be something good to write about!

      @@sodorislandmodels6332 It makes sense that as Jinty was withdrawn by British Railways around the time of Arlesburgh Harbour being under construction, it's likely he was hired or bought to assist with building the new harbour and renovation of the branch from Tidmouth. This makes sense as Duck is still the station pilot in Main Line Engines (set in 1965) and no pilot engines are seen in subsequent books although Thomas and Percy have been known to visit the harbour and shunt trucks in between their booked trains. In my head canon Tidmouth Harbour owns a USA tank and later a Class 07 diesel. When the diesel shunter takes over at the harbour, the USA tank is bought by the NWR...

    It’s said Sixteen was preserved by preservationists in the Midlands. Maybe Jinty along with Pug, the Big City Engine, and even D199 and Old Stuck Up were preserved at the same place Sixteen was (it doesn’t have to be a real place, it could just be a made up one).

  • @jaanshersaeed4541
    @jaanshersaeed4541 Před rokem +3

    The fact that 4 Jintys were allocated to Barrow from 1948-1956 means you could say the tank engines from Percy Takes The Plunge could’ve been them, with Jinty being one of the engines themselves listening to Percy’s story (Pug might’ve been there outside the picture listening too). Imagine if sometime after Oliver’s arrival someone like Percy or BoCo went to Barrow to save Jinty Pug and the other shunters and got them jobs all over the NWR like shunting at Tidmouth and Vicarstown (or Barrow like staying at their home place) and on Thomas and Edward’s branchlines.

      @@sodorislandmodels6332 Pug could’ve been 47001 or 47002 due to how they were allocated close to Barrow in Furness (I’m going with the former number) at the time of TEFE. As for the Big City Engine, for starters I think it would make sense for them to be a Patriot allocated anywhere along the East Coast Main Line due to it going to Euston. And secondly, since they had no nameplate illustrated they could’ve easily been an unnamed Patriot instead of a named one. 45508 was given a stovepipe chimney right in 1956 so it’s cancelled out and also 45528 and 45545 who were unnamed before were some of the Patriots that were rebuilt, leaving 9 other unnamed Patriots the BCE could be. From what I’ve seen 45550 was allocated closest to Barrow in Furness at Preston (which is right on the East Coast Main Line) at the time of Gordon Goes Foreign so the Big City Engine could’ve been it. If you wanted them be a named Patriot then at the time of Gordon Goes Foreign there was 45518. Bradshaw which was allocated the closest to Barrow in Furness then out of all the other named unrebuilt Patriots right at Preston too just like 45550 so Big City Engine could’ve also been 45518. Bradshaw.
      The Derailed Engine also seems like they could be a Princess Royal due to the lack of smoke deflectors and while some were allocated close to Barrow at the time it’s hard to tell which one (I think a Jubilee would be too small and it doesn’t seem fitting one would be taking an express all the way from Barrow in Furness to St. Pancras. NicTrain123 also said on Twitter he thinks the engine Duck almost crashed into looks like an LNER A4 when looking close up with it’s front sloping downwards but we wouldn’t know which one for sure (RWS Spencer anyone), could’ve been called over to Sodor for some rail excursion all the way from the North Eastern Region or something.

    Jinty was built in 1924 it says it on Wikipedia meaning he was apart of the 42700 batch that came in 1924 and 1925 not the 47400 batch of 1926 so basically using Jinty with 47406 is inaccurate in RWS terms.
