last week i saw mad.butterfly at the met.what a powerful ending to a powerful opera...every time i hear this finale i am in tears...this is a great recording..thanks
My dad played this on his old victrola and we listened as children.I will be 73 soon and still love it ,I esp love the Japanese type music at the end .
This is so moving and I just spent the afternoon enjoying the beautiful production of the Atlanta Opera’s, Madama Butterfly. One of my favorite operas.
Why does this child hug on Pinkerton? He has no idea who he is. He's been gone longer than the kid (who is definitely not 2-3 years old) has been alive. there would be no recognition of who he is and certainly no emotional connect ion to warrant a hug.
I must disagree, as I found la bohème's finale slightly too long. Regarding this problem, presto su, Mario from Tosca is Puccini's best finale. This is also not a very good execution by the way.
@@floris737 fair enough, Tosca's finale is fabulous! For me, the genius of La Boheme's ending is that Mimi does not perform a large dramatic aria when she dies. She sings the same note, with the orchestra playing music from earlier in the opera, conjuring up pleasant memories for both of them. This is the work of a genius for me
All 3 are wonderful. For drama I love Ballo in Maschera, Rigoletto and Trav. Plus both Cav and Pags ending. And for drama Don G. Very unoriginal I know.
Not accurate, in the finale pinkerton does not hug his son, it is just his voice callin her in the room. Also believe portraying harakiri scene openly is fundamental for this play.
I’m 75 first saw this opera in 1950’s my grandma took me and after that it became my favorite

Très belle interprétation. Une voix qui se prête à marveille à Butterfly.
You would have to have a heart of stone not to be moved by the death of Butterfly.

beautiful but nothing compared to the finale of La Bohème

I've only listened to it for a minute or so but in my view, too much screaming and shouting. Not a very nice voice at all for this opera.
