I saw and listened to Callas in 1964 (I think), with Tito Gobbi; in Tosca, in London. It was an amazing musical experience for a 19-year old. It sort-of ruined my interest in the pop music of the day: Beatles and all that. Since then, I've sought out every recording I can find of Maria Callas and she changed my life, so far as musical appreciation is concerned. Here I am, almost 80and still listening to her wonderful voice.
44 year after her dead.we still listening to her aria.another 500 year we will be still listening

Most people do not understand the great physical & emotional requirements which are necessary to sing such a piece .

That may be correct but many others have sung TRAVIATA since with the same “great physical and emotional requirements” to great advantage.
I find it hard to believe that a simple human voice could rise up to the level of magnificence achieved by Maria Callas. Obviously, hers was a gift, and I have yet to hear any other soprano, alive or dead, who could come anywhere close to her incredible performance. There will never be another Callas.
The voice is the finest instrument in the whole creation capable of rising frequencies without any outside aid

Each word is meaningful to her singing and to her interpretation. That's why she's a genius. She is fully involved in the roles , she reigned supreme in many different music styles, she respected her partners onstage and was praised by the most important conductors. I'm sure the composers themselves would be delighted by her talent and brilliant insights

The entire range from the chest tones to the ringing tops and those coloratura runs gives credence to the fact that her technique was amazing. It is difficult to phathom that she was not well that night if indeed she was sick. The voice is perfectly coordinated from top to bottom. STUPENDOUS!!!

To have been given a chance to hear Callas in my lifetime, feels like she gave me a portion of her extraordinary gift. I've never been more captivated than when I play her recordings. For the pleasure she's given me I can never tell her, but I can say here I'm honored more than I can ever express.

I am amazed by her timbre and all the varied colors of her voice. I read about how she had a Dark sound especially in her low range and then mid range a variety of expressive colors, and her highest notes are like the beautiful song or a bird or angel or Who knows what, not of this world. Recently, I read a lot of what they said about her voice being so agile, with a wide wide range like a coluratura, and so variably colored ( and expressive) and so otherworldly, that one can and should listen repeatedly!
i can think of no dramatic soprano that could remotely colour notes and transitions in the way that Maria could.
and the agility in her voice, at her late 1940s to early 1950s apex, was simply unmatched.

It is interesting listening to this. It is of course, inimitable. The artistry and identification with the role is complete. And the endless felicitous touches that fill out the character. It's a masterclass in what is possible with technique and musical imagination. BUT you can also hear the seeds of destruction that meant that her career was effectively over two years later. She creates a thrilling effect by taking weight in the middle voice way too high. The net result is that the very high notes start to sound precarious. Actually, of course, it's perfectly in character but unfortunately it wasn't completely intentional. But such is the wonder of art. Fly high, fly free. Fly too high, there's further to fall. I am eternally grateful that we have all these recordings. They are a wonder. Of course, once you've heard her as Violetta, it completely ruins it because no-one, in my experience, has come close to achieving what she did. For me Addio del pasato is probably one of the greatest achievements by any singer in any genre. The sense of complete despair is simply overwhelming and it slays me every time.
