Yes!!!! Deluxe Paint! My bread and butter for animation, slides, and video production since 1985. Complemented with a genlock made possible interactive video conference with the networks way back 1995. Scala software complements the package for video titles and Videonics videomixer gave me the opportunity to experiment with Barco projectors and Professional videocameras JVC's KY series, Laser disc players and Super VHS tape recorders for a Fashion show here in the Philippines. Try ARexx programming to automate digitizing process to background task conversion using Directory Opus. The images (with incremented filenames) can be used for rotoscoping. Truly, the Amiga is the first multitasking microcomputer in its class. It is now 2019. That feature I played way back 1990 using my 2nd Amiga, Amiga 3000. The first was Amiga 1000 (1985).

Mate this is great! Love the presentation. I used to play with D-Paint back in the day, and even did some of my design and technical drawing homework in it. Never got far with animation but I was only on a 1MB A500 with no HDD. What I did do though was output to my VHS player and run 2 or 3 frames out at a time lol. Was a very imperfect science, and i had to loop the same frames for a couple of seconds because the VHS player would rewind slightly on pause/unpause. Still good fun though.

  • @heidirichter

This shows just how creative someone could be with an Amiga, particularly once DPaint came in the box with so many of them. This shows some of the magic that is now missing from "modern" computers in my humble opinion. Sure, modern machines come with a painting program, where you can create static images, but if you want something where you can really flex your creative muscle, you need to get something else. There may be a DPaint-alike program out there for "modern" machines, but most people don't know where to get something like that, or even that they want something like it. If I had a dollar for ever hour I've spent using DPaint, even if nothing I ever made was even good enough to save, let alone use, gosh, I could probably buy myself an Amiga 1200, an Amiga 500 and a Vampire 500 - and still have some money left over, haha.

Deluxe Paint 4 was the best. Using an A1200, I was able to create a custom made weather forecasting tool with my own map of the UK in one window and weather symbols also made by me in another window and then copy and paste the symbols onto the map and save it as a final image for show. But sadly this was before the internet got going and ribbon printers were prohibitively expensive so no one got to see my efforts. I remember saving the files in TIFF format on floppies so it could well be possible to view those files on MS Paint or something.
