  • Next up is the Remington Model 121 Fieldmaster (c.1947) made from 1936 to 1954 to upgrade the iconic John Pedersen designed Remington Model 12 which had been going strong since 1909. This rifle is a .22 S/L/LR chambered pump/slide action tube magazine fed repeater that was purchased as a non-functional "gunsmith special" from a LGS and sat for a number of years on my back burner as it would not feed from the magazine correctly and my few attempts to fix it were unsuccessful.
    Brought out for a short form video to just feature it quickly "as is" turned into a fascinating exploration into its refinement designers C. C. Loomis and G. H. Harrison and the patents they have for the changes they made which led to a deeper understanding of exactly what was causing the rifle to malfunction.
    Come along with me here in the Milsurp Garage as we explore those patents and take a real close look at this fine rifle.

    Millsurp Garage, I sold my Remington model 17 just last year, that is a super sweetheart of a shotgun, feather lite about 5.5 pounds. In full choke , raised rib 26” barrel . Yes, you really need one to try on the trap range.👍👍👍🇺🇸✌🏻🙏🏽

      @MilsurpGarage  Před 21 dnem

      Yeah, just never really shoot well with 20ga. We will see, I have the Ithaca in 12 ga, full choke 30’’ that has shot a few 25’s for me. Might just stick with that.

      @@MilsurpGarage My biggest problem is I could never score higher than 10-12 out of 25. Didn’t matter what shotgun, gauge or choke but, take me hunting and it a whole different story. Hope you acquire the 17 but it is really light for swinging in my mind. Good luck getting one.👍✌🏻🇺🇸🙏🏽😎

    Now I have watched it to the end and I also had a Remington 51 . I was stolen from my house . Mine has UMC stamped on the trigger guard. I’m sure my son sold it for drug money or a IOU . This was back in the 1980’s. Waiting to see the 121 fixed.👍🇺🇸✌🏻

    ugh- why do you keep sharing these awesome classics??? You make me want to buy every old gun I see LOL. There are a couple really sweet, nice condition vintage pumps at my cabela's but they're all over 6 bills, some over 11 bills (One is an octagonal barrel in 22 short I believe) and I just can't bring myself to buy them... That's why i bought the model 35 Sears pump action rifle. I could afford it :)

    Awesome video as always. The 121 was such a well built .22 pump. Beautiful milled receiver. Much different from the later 572 Fieldmaster. A great gun in its own right. But not nearly as elegant as the 121.

    Something we are allowed have here in Australia thankfully, pump action rimfire and centrefire rifles are allowed on a basic A+B licence . Sadly not allowed pump shotguns though unless you're a professional contract shooter or primary producer.

    • @MilsurpGarage
      @MilsurpGarage  Před 11 dny

      Allowed thankfully? People, pay attention. Without the constitution you have to be THANKFUL to be ALLOWED to have a pump action rimfire rifle.
      VOTE like your life as you know it is at stake…..because it is.
      Hopefully, you opened up some eyes, my fine Australian friend. Thank you.
