It's a regular acoustic guitar, but it's played out in a way that it sounds like a portuguese guitar".

I must say that most Portuguese don't know enough of their own culture, so foreigners saying they hear spanish more than portuguese is forgivable. This song has so many traditional things that most people think it's from other places but it's in our roots too. You can hear a fandango rythm, even Baile Mandado from Algarve, a very Marcha Popular sound too, we have the portuguese guitar that has arabic origins, even the balkan vibes we also have that in the south because we are very close to the Mediterranean... We are a melting pot of culture and influences and I simply love that this song can show that making people from so many different places identify with the sound of it. If you listen to some traditional songs from Algarve is sounds like Arabic chants and it's still Portugal, so I think even Portuguese need to explore their culture and that's why I love this song! That's why the portuguese can identify sounds from all over the world too, because we are a melting pot since day one.
Regarding the voice, as you saw in the end she does have a good range hahaha check her work cus it's good ;)

Hi Pedro, as already mentioned by other people, this song is not of a specific Portuguese type of music but the rhythmic base can be compared to the typical "Marchas Populares". Every year in June, In Lisbon (and other cities as well), the different districts come together for a competition of "Marchas Populares" and there is a big parade in Avenida da Liberdade: czcams.com/video/1VUADEQEBPE/video.html
Here is one of the most popular songs of that type: Lá vai Lisboa - czcams.com/video/rvBuKsCcq9w/video.html.
At least in one of the interviews I've watched, Mimicat referred to this rhythmic approach in her song.

To make it easier , I am Portuguese and this is a "pop" kind of take on folk song from the inner side of Portugal. There are more examples like "Oh malhão" , "Rosa arredonda a saia" and "Água fresca".
These are examples of the upbeat version of Portuguese songs. The lyrics mention a confusion of emotions in the heart but not in a very negative way, more lively. To give you a visual:
You are in a "festa regional" which is like a faire with street performers and so on, and you cross eyes with someone that gives you butterflies in the stomach and you start dancing. That's the image we usually go about when describing this. Just playful 😊

I'm Portuguese and I love this song!!! Personally it reminds me a mix of gipsy music and it reminds me a lot of Kusturica 😊

PS: Why do people (mainly during Esc) have to search for or discuss "style of music", "it's typical, or not typical"! What does it matter! Music is Universal! It annoys me that Esc is becoming mainstream bubble gum pop! Shame! But yes, Portugal and few other countries keep on doing their stuff and very well! I have heard people saying (even Portuguese and Spanish people, and they should know better) that the castanets (castanholas?) sounds are Spanish??? Hence the Spanish influence. Hummm.... Well, I have been up north and Minho region and I can get, from Mimicat song... Chanson Française, Burlesque, Balcan sounds, traditional Iberian, Portuguese and MIMICAT's TOUCH! I do my stuff, and that's it! And, btw, the guitar paying in Ai Coração... it is NOT Portuguese Traditional Guitar... It is a normal Acoustic Guitar (as said by Mimicat in most of her interviews)... Just look at this video from a Sunday in Arcos de Valdevez (guess I wrote it right🤔) and you'll know what I mean. They are having SUNDAY FUN!!!!! 😍 czcams.com/video/9jeOgWGjhS8/video.html

She’s a great singer, her music journey is more jazzy than pop, for that reason she’s not much known in Portugal. I know her since 2014, with “Tell Me Why”.
The sound is like a mix with spanish roots, like flamenco and a Portuguese folklore, the heart in the necklace that she’s wearing, it’s traditional on north folklore, called Heart of Viana (Coração de Viana)

As someone from Portugal, I don't know the style of the song, but I hear some portuguese guitar in the song so it might be a portuguese genre. About your trip to Lisbon, I know some places that are just beautiful. I reccomend you to go to S. Jorge's castle (beautiful view) Santa Justa elevator, and any of the multiple palaces in Sintra, but especially the Pena Palace or Quinta da Regaleira. And the other destinations are the generical (but beautiful!) ones like Monastery of Jerónimos, Belém Tower and Terreiro do Paço. Hope this helps!

Gllad you liked! I just have to disagree when you say it`s a very simple song because it`s not. On the contrary, it`s a very complex song. If you listen to the amount of instrumentation that goes in, the ups and down of different sections, the backvocals giving it another layer etc etc all tied up beautifully, you will realise that`s absolutely nothing simple about it. The style is a fusion of burlesque, portuguese folk, eastern sonorities as well as iberian. Have a good time in Lisbon! Enjoy your weekend.

The Song, the Acting, the Interpretation, the Naturalness, the Choreography, the Dancers...
    I'm Surrendered...
I didn't even know Mimicat and this Song Wasn't My Favorite (I have Reasons to have Rooted for Bárbara Tinoco).
I just hope that Some Designer (and we have Very Good Designers) will make a Dress, for Mimicat...
The Dresses (Skirts) and the Costumes of the Dancers are Perfect. I just think that the Other Dancer should shave his hair (or wear Hats - same as "Cavaleiros Alentejanos" - like Zorro), and let Both of them grow their Beards, so that they can look like as the Ballerinas, and the 'Thing' stays - even more - Symmetrical

Her jewellery is from Minho region e Viana. Nice touch.
