      I never really liked this piece, cause it shifts between minor and major. But Orochimaru’s theme, a character from the Anime Naruto, who’s theme is based on this piece, love that theme so much.

      If indeed it is by Bach. No original manuscript in Bach's handwriting survives. There are some eminent musicologists who think that it is not from his hand because it contains too many features inconsistent with Bach's style. I agree that Bach was a supreme genius and that this is a remarkable piece, regardless of who wrote it.

    Fantastic performance! This is my all-time favorite musical instrument. I played this same piece, just for fun, on the pipe organ at the cathedral adjoining the Catholic school I attended. From the age of 13 on, Sister Anna Rose Bezner (music teacher and principal of the school) showed me how to play the console organ near the altar and also the massive cathedral pipe organ. I became the principal organist at Holy Family Cathedral in Tulsa while attending school for four years at Bishop Kelley High School. The power, the echo, the vibration, and the magic and majesty of a large pipe organ overtakes your body, mind, and soul. Those were exciting moments I shall never forget.

    My mother and i spend years singing in various choirs and cathedrals. And hearing a pipe organ opened up fully sends goosebumps up and down you arms for sure. Especially, with the right reverb it's indescribable. I thought this piece was played a bit to fast. Should have been slowed down a bit. Many organists play just to play and hear themselves. But one must play this instrument and listen to what it wants to do. And only then will you hear the perfect sound.

      @tubamaxima187 Před 7 měsíci +7

      Thank you Ethan for your comments and observations. Many people do not know that saving this organ from destruction was a very close call. In 1998-1999, when the Convention Hall was slated for a large building refurbishment it was decided to remove the organ. Most of it did not work at that time. The original Atlantic City Convention Hall Organ Society members ( including myself, Harry Bellangy and the late Charles Swisher) worked tirelessly to thwart those that wanted to remove the organ. We were successfully able to have the organ registered as a Historical Monument, out of reach to those that wished to have it destroyed.
      When ACCHOS disbanded and HORC took over, things began to quickly move in a very positive manner. Rather than the removal of the organ, today we have the world's largest organ more than 50% refurbished. I understand that today that at least 18,000 pipes are playable. The sound is magnificent. KUDO's to HORC.

    • @ethanlamoureux5306
      @ethanlamoureux5306 Před 7 měsíci

      @@tubamaxima187 I didn’t realize it was that close to removal. I first discovered this organ online right about the time of the remodeling of the auditorium, and I downloaded the amazing recording of BWV 565 that was made just before they pulled the plug. I was furious to hear how the workers took no care during the remodeling, damaging the pipes, sawing through the the cables and windlines. I was delighted when I heard it was registered as a historical monument and that something like a million dollars had been given toward its restoration. Then when a video showed up on CZcams of a very out of tune, cyphering organ being played by the children of the caretaker as I recall, I finally had reason to hope! I’ve never been there to see it yet, but I hope to some day. Thank you for your tireless efforts to save this wonderful instrument!

      Agreed. I refrained from commenting as such on the other CZcams channel where that performance was shown, but this performance has the space, clarity and poise that such a vast space requires. The other one was rushed and jerky and sounded muddy and indistinct as a result. I still wish we could hear more of the organ repertorie, particularly romantic music that fits the era of this organ. Bach is really an anachronism on a huge romantic instrument. Where's the Franck, Vierne, Dupré, Messien, Langlais?

    People like Mark Zuckerberg should spend their charity on the cause of restoring this organ rather than politics.

      So wundervoll gespielt, mit so viel Ausdruck und so perfekt. Schwer beeindruckend. Das hat letztendlich mein Interesse an der Orgel hervorgebracht, ich war früher immer im Gottesdienst auf der Empore (da Familienmitglieder im Chor sind/waren) und durfte immer neben dem Organisten sitzen. Ich würde so gerne selbst Orgel spielen lernen, bin allerdings schon 18 Jahre alt und habe das Gefühl, zu viel Zeit schon verloren zu haben. Haben Sie irgendwelche Tipps?

    Tremendous reading of BWV-565! Along with a good audio capture! In May 2024 more ranks have been restored and the high pressure trumpet divisions above the auditorium floor are being restored. Looking forward to your future return exploration as the instrument nears full operational status! All the best😊👍👍🎶🎶

    I have the original Bach on the Biggest LP of this piece recorded back in the 60s and it is just as majestic. I make it a rule to listen to every CZcams version of Toccata and Fugue that appears and none can touch this magnificent organ.

    Sight and sound synchronicity can be a factor of the distances between the pipes and the point of the camera location at the keyboard. Lens distortion from the one viewpoint makes it look like a couple of the manuals are on the same plane.
