    OK Pete....every time you are about to break a news story somebody does it before you because they know what you are writing about. No big deal? Coaches are fired for losing to Michigan.....families have to move. Ask the coaches at Penn State or Rutgers if they think it's a big deal. Do you think CJ Stroud had been affected. Of course OSU teams were most affected because they were most scouted. If OSU makes the playoffs $ and recruiting is affected. But his actions affected many people and it's amazing how people in the media failed to understand that.

      @@blkillia Honestly, obtaining info about others cheating makes cheating, ok? Obtaining info illegally is wrong. I don't care too much about that. it has nothing to do with play on the field. Maybe if the NCAA had intervened sooner, others wouldn't have to act on their own. The whole B1G is a joke after this. Maybe just strip Michigan of their title and all their wins over the 3 ish years. Then strip Ohio their wins for the 1 year.
      But it's the NCAA, so nothing will happen before the NCAA has no control over CFP anymore. Most pointless organization I can think of.

      Is a Michigan man a man who is proud of winning like this?

    He can’t show remorse if he is insistent that he didn’t do it. That’d be admitting guilt. He apologizes and he admits any wrongdoing.

  • @BenMichigan
    @BenMichigan Před 15 dny +2

    1) Yes, many Michigan fans enjoyed the "documentary" because it showed us winning all our games and the National Championship.
    2) It's one thing to say that the Harbaugh show cause "doesn't matter" (which I could debate) but it's a very curious thing to say that a ban/show cause for Stalions "doesn't matter." It matters to Stalions a great deal, I'm sure. It impacts his career severely. I assume what Pete really meant was it won't impact Michigan. I guess the continued punishment of Stalions does not impact Michigan but of course Michigan has already been punished (lost Stalions mid-season who had a permitted role as sign stealer, lost Partridge mid-season, had Harbaugh suspended for three games at the end of the year). It's kind of strange to me how everyone keeps acting like Michigan has yet to be punished. There will be additional punishments from the NCAA, but Michigan has already had consequences. Just because they overcame it doesn't mean it wasn't a punishment.
    3) Both Ryan and Pete talk about Michigan and Stalions having a lack of remorse. Ryan compared it to Tennessee saying "Whoops we're sorry" and saying that's why Tennessee came away okay. This is hilarious to me because of course UT was facing a bowl ban but threatened to sue the NCAA--which they later did anyway about something else--which is why the NCAA tucked their tail. The notion that Tennessee rolled over and played dead is fantasy.
    I agree with the assessment of Stalions--unapologetic and clearly lying at times in the documentary. (Of course since he maintains he did nothing wrong, there's nothing to apologize for.) As for Michigan--which the hosts keep conflating with Stalions--I understand where they are coming from with saying that Michigan is unapologetic, but it's a little unfair to make a straight comparison to others, such as Tennessee (again, who threatened to, and later did, sue the NCAA) since Michigan was being asked to apologize in the middle of an ongoing season. The stakes were very different. That doesn't excuse anything, but it provides some context.
    And while it's possible Pete knows exactly how all conversations went down verbatim between the NCAA and Big Ten and Michigan from October on, the rest of us only know pieces. And from my perspective, what I see is a school who parted ways with a cheating staffer (who they rushed to say was fired even though he actually resigned) and then later fired a coach when wrongdoing was pointed out. I know that some in the media and all rival fan bases wanted Harbaugh to admit he cheated in October, but I believe all we know at this point is that he oversaw a staff where Stalions had the job to legally steal signs, which includes advance scouting (just not in-person).
    4) I don't speak for all Michigan fans, obviously, but I feel that the hosts (probably from their personal experiences and interactions since October) believe Michigan fans are rah-rah Stalions. From the beginning, it has been divided and in many cases nuanced how people feel. I think there was some hope for a long time now that Stalions found a loophole (other than the CMU thing, which is believed to have been for CMU's benefit and not Michigan's) and it would be understood that Michigan really didn't cheat by the letter of the law and that the correct interpretation would exonerate Stalions and Michigan. Since it turns out Stalions isn't even claiming he found a loophole--rather he's saying people needlessly sent him videos that he didn't ask for or use (a pretty obvious lie)--and the fact that Michigan didn't fund it as a program, on the books at least (another indication the operation is not actually viewed as legitimate by Stalions), then I think it becomes harder to claim it was thought to be within the rules. I know plenty of people will still hold on to that, but I do not find that to be the prevailing argument. It never was the primary argument for Michigan (the school or fans) at large and it's even less so now.
    In other words, despite what the video's hosts present, I believe Michigan (fans and school) is accepting that violations occurred.
    5) It's interesting that Ryan heard the NCAA as laughing at the lawyer for asking about how their source obtained the private data owned by Stalions. To me, I heard a flustered response, caught off-guard and uncomfortable, with nervous laughter. I did not hear uproarious guffaws at the clownish lawyer as Ryan did. I'm not suggesting that the NCAA is covering anything up or that their source violated any laws. I have no idea and no evidence (that I'm aware of) exists to strongly suggest it. But I still found the NCAA's reaction to be one of nervousness because they were unprepared for being interrogated themselves and were aware that the video call was being recorded. However, it is possible that Ryan's interpretation was correct, that the NCAA was dumbstruck by the outlandish question and they had to stifle laughter because of the hilarity of it all.
