  • It's popping cork time! In particular, the best popping corks for redfish (and big bull reds).
    Are you rigging popping corks correctly?
    Here’s the deal: if you want to catch big redfish, every tiny little detail matters…
    From the way you rig your cork, to the knots you use, to the type of cork you use.
    Capt. Mark “Hollywood” Johnson from FloridaKeysFunFishing.com is back today to help us nail down all of those details and make sure we’re giving ourselves the best chance to put fish in the boat.
    As he explains in this video, not all popping corks are created equal.
    Some popping corks are best for small inshore fish (small redfish, speckled trout, etc) while some of the heavy duty popping corks are best for targeting big bull redfish (and monster jack crevalle, sharks, etc).
    Of course, usually the heavy duty corks cost more money (but they also last longer).
    Ready to catch more fish on popping corks?
    Watch this video.

    as a bass fisherman that aspires to be a good gulf coast fisherman, i admire these videos. you do SUCH a good job explaining the science behind the gear in such an informative and non-condescending way. much better than the super viral bass channels do. they seem to be paid for their recommendations whereas you are recommending what you know is tried and true.

    Hi Mark, great video. I really like popping corks because it's got the action of fishing with a lure so your not falling asleep soaking baits or getting snagged on oysters and you can use live/cut baits or a wide variety of jigs and other lures.

    I personally started using the Rio Vista Twista and Adjustable Babybopper from Burnside Bopper. I can quickly adjust my depth within seconds, without changing leader, with a slide of a hand. I can quickly swap from a vudu shrimp to a jig head due to changes in current and depth.

    No matter what popping cork you use….if you use shrimp or pins they will tie around
    the popper . There is no way around it. Shrimp and pins will twirl around the braid or
    the stem of the popper.

  • @andyvaldez212
    @andyvaldez212 Před rokem

    Loved the video but honestly, I can assure you that in a controlled test, popping cork shape has no verifiable difference in terms of catch potential. At best, the result will be random. Therefore, buying a 10 dollar popping cork is dumb. A 1.79 popping cork will do that same job with the same efficiency.
