- Troy from Warspeed built this epic little Corolla. he decided to stay oldschool & go with the 5k engine. being an engine builder Troy has done everything you can do to this little engine and it now screams to 9,400 rpm!

What's even more amazing is this engine was never meant to rev anywhere near that high. Just think about it: 2 valve per cylinder pushrod design from the 80s that revs like a Honda F20! This is just the kind of over-building that makes the Toyota brand the legend that it is.

Well, the K series engines date back to the late 60s really, and they hadn't changed much up to the 80s 5K, just bigger bore and longer stroke.
that engine build is outstanding. Blows my mind that people are throwing money at these old bangers these days, but they always bring a smile.

Big wagon with tiny engine. Back in the early 80s we put 1.8 from the 1980 to 1982 corolla into this wagon. Great memories from that era.
I have seen some great Australian cars, such as Mazda RX-2/3 and Datsun 510, that in my opinion were spoiled by giant wheels. I'm glad that trend is reversing down there.

great interview. Its fascinating that Troy builds mental Hi-Po V8's all day but he is a total corolla tragic. I think everyone can relate to just having an irrational soft spot for a certain model of car, often it's whatever they fell into as a first car.

This is honestly crazy and amazing. I purchased a 74 Corolla Station Wagen myself and with the original 1200 motor and 4-speed gearbox all stock. Has a lot of body and interior work but this is giving me great inspiration. Well done.

i had heaps of corollas in the 90's . i had a KE30 (or mybe KE38 not sure) Panel Van and a KE55 Coupe. I built a pretty fun 5K with a cam , headwork and single webber . but the thing was a dog to drive on the street . would hardly idol and only went if foot was flat to the floor.
love what he do into 5k engine.. i have 7k engine but in here in indonesia its too hard to find performance part for 5k/7k engine.. i would appreciate if you give us guide, and part list, for build the engine, thank you
