4 Deploy 35' Ground Ladder Part 2

4. Deploy 35’ ground ladder - The Firefighter with another firefighter will deploy 35’ ladder to be used as a ground ladder. Multiple ladders will be deployed in a variety of ways to perform different tasks as instructed. IE: deployed on the beam, deployed flat, deployed for ventilation, deployed for rescue etc…
a. FF will be standing in full PPE and SCBA awaiting instruction from Training Officer.
b. FF will deploy ground ladder as instructed with the help of one additional FF.
c. FF will deploy 35’ ladder as instructed, with care being taken to ensure the FF rotates from “butt” position to the tip.
d. FF will audibly verbalize hazards being considered each time a ladder is deployed.
e. FF will audibly verbalize that the ladder is safe to use after deployment. This is shown by verbalizing “4 points of contact, proper climbing angle, halyard is tied off, dogs are locked, and FF at the butt.”
f. At T.O.’s discretion FF will be instructed to sound roof and demonstrate getting off the ladder.
g. FF will demonstrate how to carry a tool up a ladder.
h. Ladders will be deployed until Training Officer is satisfied with competent completion.
