Not gonna lie I never cared too much about them cos they gave manufactured vibes but this week made me see them in a new light. They actually have talent and made some great songs.
They have such a fantastic story. They were put together as a manufactured group but decided they were better than that and ran away from their management. Literally, in the middle of the night, packed up their stuff and left.
The story of the video is that this is actually what they used to do (minus stealing homeless guys clothes) they used to BARGE into places making noise and hyping each other up and singing acapella to anyone in their way and then barge into record execs offices and meetings and hop on the table and FORCE them to listen to them (and many record execs rejected them including Simon Cowell who regret it afterwards). They were each others hype men and had so much confidence that it intimidated people. So this video represents all that.
Then why did I read a comment that they became a group bec they were looking for girls to start a group and they auditioned
@@deed2157bote are true. Four of them answered an ad and were put together to form a group. There was a fifth girl, but it didn't work and she was replaced by Emma (Baby Spice).
Eventually they sacked the group that formed them and went on their own, making chaos in every building the set foot on to be heard and signed.

As an Irelander, I can confirm that we do say "zed" 😁😁 - Interestingly, in the track "Never Ever", from British-based group All Saints (also very popular in Europe in the late 90's), they say both "from A to zee" and "from A to zed" in the lyrics. All Saints were "the thinking man's Spice Girls", if you will, lol.
I only realised in my 20's how sexual some of the lyrics were and wondered how my parents let me listen to songs like that when I was 7/8, lol.
As a kid i thought you better get with my friends meant, if you want to be togheter with me you need to sleep with my friends first....

She was at a wedding when they wrote and recorded it (and apparently played it down the phone to her!). Her vocals aren't on the original demo. I believe her vocals were added to the final mix.

Canadians say Zee and Zed. We’ve got the British and the American influences. I’m from Alberta and I was taught to say Zed in school (though I was in French immersion so I don’t know what’s it like in entirely English schools…I think Zed is the teaching standard in Canada). However, in places closer to the States, like places in Ontario, they may say Zee. I think Zee is still considered a very American pronunciation in Canada in general, though. There, more than you ever wanted to know on this subject. 😂
Also, pretty sure, looking back on it, that loving both the Spice Girls and the Backstreet Boys as a young girl probably helped along my pansexuality. 😅

The hotel in the video was derelict at time of filming. This area was very run down and the hotel did not reopen until mid 2000s.

Zig-A-Zig-Ah initially didn't have a clear meaning cos the song is about love and respecting her friends first in order to be her guy, but afterwards Mel B said it was about sex. So maybe it's more like the verses and chorus is what they say to the guy and then the rap parts are her telling her friends she's horny but doesn't wanna make it obvious to guys to not seem easy.

I think for the video they just stormed this place, because everyone around them is looking at them and the camera guy like ??. Like at the beginning the guy getting out of the car looks at the camera like 3 times bc he’s like why’re you filming me. Same thing when they go in and everyone’s like what’re you guys doing. I think that place is a place where people can go and just be themselves and do whatever cuz you got a young guy with an older woman and a guy in girls clothing and the other way around.
