I randomly sing, âGod bless Mother Nature, sheâs a single woman tooooo!â đđđ
This biggest irony from this video is that the most controversial part from it was their weight /appearance and not the overtly gay content. đ
Martha Wash is the GOAT! EVERYBODY DANCE NOW!
I swear them girls can SANGG!!
@@Tainuska Yes, they are now⊠but the originals (the ones in the video) are two good friends that knew each other from church.
I am laughing so hard.I was thinking : what could be number 1?? BUT OF COURSE!!!!!! What a tune!
"I Am What I Am" could have been an option.
Iâm so glad yâall enjoyed this classic from 1982. Iâve always loved the song and video. One of the earliest music videos (MTV aired its first video in 1981). The visual effects are so clunky and basic but shout out to them for attempting it. Fun fact: Martha Wash, the oneâs whose head goes flying off, was the vocalist for C&C Music Factory (Everybody dance now!). Sheâs a magnificent singer. Thanks for the ĂŒber fun reaction. Happy Pride everyone!!
may have not aged the best but it's still so fun and camp that it still holds up in that way
and black box.
I donât think Iâve ever seen you guys so happy reacting to a music video. đ This was hysterical, her head flying off into the distance is hands down one of the best things Iâve ever seen. đ Incredible!! Thanks Brad S, I really enjoyed this week. đ€©
I haven't even watched the whole way though yet, but OMG! This is hysterical! It makes me love this song in a whole different way.đđđ
Actually to correct @bsealy1 (sorry), Martha Wash was conned into laying down vocals for a project she thought was going to be under her name. Then when she saw the video for "Gonna Make Ya Sweat" and someone else lip-syncing to her voice she sued. During the law suit she appeared on the Arsenio Hall Show and sang to chorus perfectly proving it was her voice. After she won it was a big change in the music industry using sampling and giving artists their rights & credits.
I used to go clubbing when I was at University in the mid-90's and there was this amazing club called Vague on Saturday nights in Leeds (UK) which was a gay night but all sorts of people were there dressed up in glitter and sequins and feathers and hot pants and wigs and it was incredible. Most nights they would play this at some point and when they did everyone went INSANE! Literally everyone got on the dancefloor and flung themselves around. It was so much fun. This song will forever remind me of those days.
Well done, Brad S. Ending the week on a BANGER! đâ€
These girls can sing! When this first came out so fun and video is hilariousâŠ. Just makes you smile đ
This was co-written by Paul Schaffer too btw. (He was the band leader for Letterman.... David Letterman was a late night host before Stephen Colbert on CBS)
This song brings back another memory for me. In the late 90's there was a leather bar, of all places, in Cincinnati, OH. They would have these "hurricane parties."
Everything in the bar was covered in plastic. They had garden soaker hoses suspended from the ceiling. Large fans in the end of the bar. Strobe lights for lightening.
Throughout the evening they would start announcing a hurricane was coming. When it would arrive they played this song. The lights went out. The fans came on, the soaker hoses came on. Strobe lights flashing. People brought water guns. The bartenders would be spraying water at people from the soda hoses at the bar. You did not stay dry.
When the lights went out things got rather scandalous. The whole thing was a riot.
Excellent Reaction!! So glad you guys discovered it. Its been around since 1982!
The fact that you guys love the Camp of this video makes me love you so much more
What a fun reactionđ!!! This is truly a classic, you have to feel good watching and listening to this!
A whole entire CLASSIC!! †I had to tune in to this one cuz I already knew yâall would be soooo tickled by this song & video. đ These ladies took such a hilarious topic & sang the hell out of it!! Will never ever forget this song.
I LOVE that you love this. I LOVE that you get it.
Thank you Brad S for introducing me to this gem of a video đđ
I saw Martha Walsh, the larger-chested Weather Girl at 'Gay Days at Disney World 20+ years ago, she also was the voice behind C&C Nusic Company for several of their hits, but not in their video.
there are no words to describe the level of awesomeness of this video and song. you two came pretty close, you said it all my dudes
Song, lyrics, vocals, video. All classics
Okay, I've now watched the other 19 minutes of this reaction. Absolutely agree with everything you guys said. I'm going to go watch the video full screen. I'm going to make everyone I know watch this video. Love love love!
The fact that the men for the most part come down doing the same wild move is so fkn funny, who made this choice?? đ€Ł
Awesome song and a funny awesome video reminding me of a school play đ
This video is 42 years old. Interesting to think that the dancers are well into their 60s, Martha Wash is 70, and Izora Armstead died in 2004.
I LOVE this song! To this day I will bust out singing đ¶Iâm gonna go out, Iâm gonna let my get ABSOLUTELY! SOAKING! WEEETTTTTT!đ¶ I typed it in the chat during the last live. Mike was like âHuh?â đ
The other part Iâm always singing is đ¶God bless mother nature!⊠And she did what she had to do now!đ¶ This song is my jam!
I thought this song was banned from the radio at first, making it even more popular.
The Weather Girls were knows as Two Tons Oâ Fun when they sang backup for the legendary Sylvester. Martha sang a lot of background vocals including Centipede by Rebbie Jackson (written, arranged and produced by her brother Michael Jackson). Weâve listened to them throughout the years. Iâm almost certain the weather girls sang a song You Are My Friend with Sylvester. Thereâs a live audio of it and the weather girls sang the house down!!
When Mother Nature is throwing the stars at the angels, one guy misses it and picks it up off the floor. Then later, one of the guys dancing loses his hat and carries it when he exits towards camera. I'm guessing they didn't have enough money for editing or reshoots. Still, it adds to the campy charm.
Who is mother natures partner, Joe đ„°
Father Time đ
No, đ€šthe sun
Your'e hilarious! Fantastic â€
Love it. You guys are F U N
About 10 years ago we were having a lot of flooding in the UK, and some professional loudmouth on tv was claiming it was God punishing us for gay marriage - so of course the gay community all went out and bought 'It's Raining Men' to try to get it to number 1.
Martha Wash, the singer with the longer hair, was actualy one a pioneer and sued C&C Music Factory and Black Box for use of her voice without her image and permission. C&C I remember used her vocals but didnt want her image on the music video... i guess, same with Black Box. Those groups (who i loved in the 90s) were sung from a disco diva that i loved and I just knew who that voice was! :D
This video reaction is the funniest I've seen. Your face expressions alone made me crack up. đ
it's a born classic
The video and your reaction is FIRE! xxx
This might be the best music video ever published
đ
The two women are Martha Wash and Izora Armstead. You might recognize Martha's voice from several dance songs/music videos from the late 1980s to early1990s. Sadly, record executives use thinner model-singers to lip-synch to Wash's voice in such dance hits and music videos for 1990's "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)" by C+C Music Factory, 1991's "Strike It Up" and 1990's "Everybody, Everybody" by Black Box, and 1989's "(You're My One and Only) True Love" by Seduction. Wash was not credited or paid royalties, so she decided to sue the music producers and record labels in 1991 ... and in 1994 ended up winning and receiving money/royalties and credits.
Thats the best reaction you did so far, but how can it not be, best music video ever!
Fun fact:
This song was offered to both Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer, but both turned it down (Donna thought it was blasphemous)!
This mustâve been during her religious era! Did she listen to her own musicđ
@@FCLaney must have been. It couldn't be "Love to Love You" Donna Summer. lol
@@cocalita03 and you know the song without me even saying it đ
ohh Donna....have you heard you?? đ ...but this song just didn't suit anyone but the weather girls
Of course this was number 1!! They actually filmed this in the dead of winter in New York in an abandoned building.
You guys really need to have a REN week Most talented artist in forever . His music makes people better people just by listening to it . Andrew Loyed Webber Calls Him the best story teller Hes ever heard . Start with His break out video Hi Ren . Then just throw a dart You never know what your going to get
But it will be Amazing He's just music .Self taught multiple instrumentali
sts Trust me everyone needs some REN in their life . His live one shot videos are winning many awards Including the britsh video awards last week . Last album debited at number 1 in the UK and # 1 Hip Hop and RNB chart in the US charts . This just scrapes one of the many many of his talent .
I love the ending where they complement each other singing i love this two queensâ€
Written by Paul Schaefer of Letterman fame. The Weather Girls used to be Two Tons of Fun and they were Sylvesterâs back up singers. His big hit âYou Make Me Feel Mighty Realâ.
Soloist Martha Wash sang on many recordings which stole her voice and replaced her with a skinny lip syncing model in â Everybody Dance Nowâ.
It's deliberately ironic!!! The Weather Girls were the backing vocalist for "Sylvester". If you don't know who he is, check him out. He was groundbreaking
If no one has mentioned this before, these two incredible singers were Sylvester's backup singers "Two Tons of Fun" for many years.
The ladies startes their career called two tons of fun so apt great tune great fun and amazing voices
Weren't they Sylvester's backing singers?
yes they were
Two Tons of Fun
We was cutting up in the club back then đđ
Donna Summer, Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand and Cher all turned dow this song. One of the writers, Paul Jabbara, literally begged Martha and Izora to recorded it.
I just KNEW Sylvester-You make me feel (mighty real) wouldâve been on this list. đź
Todrick Hall did an homage to this song and video in 2021 with âRaininâ Fellasâ. Might be an interesting comparison. (I think you would like the classic better, but it shows how influential the song and video still are.)
The biggest gay anthem ever!
I was born a metalhead, I'll die a metalhead, but damn - the LGBTQ+ community have put out some bangers.
Think the hand claps really make the song - there's a little space to breathe in it and it sucks you in, it's SOOO much fun - even a straight guy like me can join in (given enough intoxicants). Speaking of which... seriously, no Frankie Goes To Hollywood "Relax"?
No one seems to know them, but you guys should check out The Hidden Cameras - awesome Canadian indie band/collective - some amazing songs and albums.
Hey guys, so I was hoping y'all would do a week 2 for MJB. These videos listed are a bit more storytelling/cinematic. I think you two would enjoy.
1. All That I Can Say
2. Deep Inside
3. Take Me As I Am
4. One ft. U2.
5. Whole Damn Year.
All of em are dope. Love the channel btw, been on board with you guys a little over a year now. I always look forward to your reactions to some of our favorite artists. Also, I admire you guys examining of music videos-from fashion, jewelry, locations, etc. Not to mention, y'all are hilarious af frfr. But I hope you guys get around to checking out the list for week 2. Much love & God bless đđŸ đ«¶đŸđ€ ..
when this used to play in gay clubs we would do the hand clap lol so camp. gay anthem in every way and spectacular vocals
Rip to Izora Armstead, shuch a powerful voice!!!
Mother Nature said the sun is just her good Judy, not her man! đ
I saw this video for the first time like a week ago and was dying đ So glad to see it at number 1, def deserved lmao
this song was written by Paul schaffer the musical director from Letterman. he wanted Donna summer to sing it but a few big stars rejected it until martha wash sang it.
Iâve def seen the video before but I never laughed this much with you guys đ
Hello! Iâm blane Edwards and Iâm Antoine Merriweather. Welcome to men on films.đŹđ
I think i'm in love with Joe đ
i don't think this song crossed the pond but you might like Tom Robinson's sing if your glad to be gay, i think it would have been the first time i heard the word gay used in relation to sexuality, maybe more of a political anthem rather than a bop but well worth a listen
Have you guys ever done videos by David Lee Roth? Super funny!
Did Martha and Izora "fall" out of the window at the beginning of the video ... or did they "jump" out the window after the raining men ... and were in such a hurry that they didn't have time to lift their feet? đ
I also love the remix they did with RuPaul! đ„đ„đ„đ„đ„đ„đ„đ„
*Shot on Nintendo Megadrive*
The video was made before MTV, before the art of the music video. Some of the 70's stuff was rough, it was bad lol, but this is a cult classic. FYI - Paul Schaffer, band leader of Late Night with David Letterman cowrote the song. Yeah, it's so bad it's fantastic and every gay bar across the world played it.
They updated the song in the 90's with RuPaul. It's a pretty good version. You should check it out.
âïžâšđ
You better sing Aunty Martha and Aunty Izora! đđŸđđŸđđŸđđŸ
If you love this, please check out Dee D. Jackson's "Automatic Lover" from 1979. Even if you don't react to it on your channel, just watch it in your spare time. You will not be disappointed.
Strisand and Summer ; No More Tears
If it did rain men, knowing my luck, id get caught in a fat bastard downpour.
somebody tell him about Martha
Wash please
It is amazing you did an elder pride week but I think you should do a modern pride week too. Ooo or even a lesbian/lilith fair week.
Whereâs the Normani reaction?
A few days back
So no Donna S on the pride list? đ§ On a side note every time I see Martha I hear âEverybody Dance Nowâ and âWhen I Said It Was Over You Aimed At My HeartâŠâ
Martha sang the vocals for those songs and was not credited until much later.
Last dance was written by the same person who wrote its raining men. So it's kinda like Donna made the list đ€
@@panbaiye Nope. Their voices make the songs not the writers.
@jobuck879 you are right, DS is incredible! Im considering donna summers' last dance must have influenced its raining men, two amazing and iconic songs.
The Martha Wash ft RuPaul version is so much more catchy lol
You must be on crack.
Are these guys gay? Just asking because they are both cuties and now doing prideweek? đ đ€đŒ
Where is Boy George/ Culture Club đź
