  • AS WITH ALL MY VIDEOS I TRY TO GIVE THE MOST INFORMATION IN THE LEAST AMOUNT OF TIME AS POSSIBLE SO I DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. IN THIS VIDEO I GO OVER SOME THINGS TO CONSIDER IF YOU ARE THINKING OF BUYING A PORTABLE SWAMP COOLER FOR YOUR GARAGE, PATIO, OR SIMILAR PURPOSE. SOME OF THE ITEMS I GO OVER IS COMPONENTS OF A SWAMP COOLER, MAINTENANCE CONCERNS, COOLER FEATURES, AND THE TEMPERATURE DIFFERENTIAL I WAS ABLE TO GET BETWEEN THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE AND WHAT I WAS GETTING OUT OF THE COOLER ITSELF. I ALSO DO A REVEIW AND ASSEMBLY OF A MEPTY 3531 CFM PORTABLE SWAMP COOLER THAT I PURCHASED FROM AMAZON FOR ARROUND $300.

I live in Southern Arizona, AC died a month ago and for expediency I decided to limp through the summer with a swamp cooler, similar in size (Hessaire) to the this. My experience is that they're a lot better than a fan, much less than air conditioning and if you don't leave doors and windows open a little the house will get very humid fast. Effective area is a 15 foot radius in front of the cooler and unless you rig the hose you'll go through about a gallon of water an hour more if you use a higher setting. Definitely glad I purchased the product, fans alone definitely wouldn't have been enough.

Good video. I saw another video where the guy put ice in the bottom in addition to the top . Said it was much cooler. I haven’t tried it yet.

Yes! I wish we had purchased ours sooner! I live in the South as well....we call Alabama home...but, we also have properties in Louisiana and Florida. I had always thought these coolers wouldn't work here because of the humidity. But, come to find out....they DO work in humid areas...just not quite as effectively...but still great! You can also use a dehumidifier to get even more effective cooling. We bought a big swamp cooler for our sunroom and a smaller one for our kitchen area that seems to stay hot no matter what...we use a portable air conditioner with a dehumidifier on it in conjunction with the swamp cooler....it has worked amazingly!!

You would think that since swamp coolers require dry, fresh air to operate efficiently, their manufacturers would have been wise enough to incorporate a funneling device that would allow the fresh air to enter without opening a door. Like the head escape hose on a standard portable air conditioner, which is mounted on your windows.

I can tell you, the screws for the wheels should be replaced with stainless steel before they rust, swell up, and strip out. Those wheels will rust after 5 or 6 years and need to be replaced. It is a pain. I also make sure to run some bleach through it, then drain before storing it for winter. Home Depot does carry portacool hard water treatment (little bars like a KitKat) that help. I always completely drain mine every 2 days to help with mineral buildup and keep germs from growing. Pads last 3 to 5 years (more if you don't use it everyday).

@5:53 - the swamp cooler also makes a good powerful child/pet safe fan ( turn off the pump).

Looks like you didn’t have the ice packs in water. Pretty sure that’s why they were ineffective. Thank you for the video tho. I’m looking to buy one.
