- My first Vibe! Received requests for this review and I have to say I was not a huge fan of this ball until I hit it with the 2000 SiaAir pad midway through the video. Out of box, this shiny ball will be fantastic ball for dry lanes or for bowlers with lower ball speed. After surface, this was an entirely different bowling ball and the ball reaction was unbeatable!

I stand by that the Vibes are the best low-end ball in the business - and on top of that I think the Ocean Vibe is the nicest looking Vibe to date!
Vibes and the Hustles are best "low-end" balls out there. OG Blue Vibe made me a lot of money
I agree, I use Ocean Vibe and Hustle USA.
I had a midnight cobalt vibe a ways back, my brother still throws it to this day
I’d like to see the DV8 brutal collision and the melee jab carbon (separate reviews)
Another video idea could be grabbing several balls that all have HK22 and doing a comparison 😁
Versatile ball. Thanks for the demo
I had a Vibe back in 2017 and it was great for 3 game on my track would dry up and it was my go to ball on over/under or 3 rd game. Was thinking about this ball for the last month glad your doing this one. 3:56 I wa surprise to almost see that ball turn
I love this ball. My favorite so far. I left the coverstock alone and can still move left with just a few hand moves. I use pin over bridge.
Drilled my ocean about a month ago and loved it out of box - on dry wood lanes, in a tournament. League wasn't as fun, needed to ball up. Didn't think to knock the shine off! It really came alive on the fresh you were on! Gonna give that a try this week.
Shiny pearls look good on the shelf, but sometimes they need that shine knocked off to perform best for someone. (Me especially in this video)
@@brunsnickthey need to bring back the quantum Helix. If you're not familiar with that ball, it is the ball that is both urethane and resin reactive. It was a popular choice for Walter Ray Williams in 2001 in which he made 16 out of 21 tv shows winning 5 titles including a major. It was the first year he started playing straight.
@@steveboone1498 can’t be done anymore.
@@brunsnick are they planning on making urethane bowling balls completely illegal and forcing bowlers to use hybrids on lanes that are devoid of oil?
@@steveboone1498 no. PBA will allow Urethane 78 hardness and above. USBC zero changes to rules. All urethane legal.
Nick, this ball review helped decide to get an Ocean Vibe, which I just had drilled up last night. It's a versatile piece, which you demonstrated after cracking the shell with a 2000 grit pad. Thanks!
Glad to hear it!
@@brunsnick BTW - I've experienced the same thing you did in this video - too much over/under. I'm going to take off the polish, start with a 2000 surface and see if I can get a more controllable back-end reaction.
I just got back from practicing with the Ocean Vibe. What a difference! Taking off the polish really opened up my shot, but I was finally carrying consistently. It makes one wonder why the box finish includes polish, especially on a pearl cover.
@@BowlerJ1 looks nicer on the shelf 100%. It’s a mid range ball, geared towards medium to dry lanes.
Thank you for this one!
My pleasure!
Keep mine at 2-3k. Absolute killer on those wet/dry conditions
My dad has the ocean and said it is a down and in ball but I took a 500 a abralon pad and "cracked" the shell by lightly touching the ball with the pad and it now is more whippy when it turns the corner but still smooth.
JUST GOES TO SHOW WHAT A LITTLE TWEEKING OF THE COVER WILL DO.......GREAT VIDEO SIR........🙂
I’ve thrown mine a lot stock. I’m putting a 2k surface on it today and going to throw it
Awesome review, Nick! This ball looks fantastic for you. First day I threw mine was on a dry condition and it was perfect out of box. At this 2k Siaair finish, I can see this being a fresh THS killer!
After throwing both this and Tundra Fire, do you think there’s room for both in an arsenal?
I think there is, if you keep the Vibe at 2000. When that starts to break down, you should be able to ball down to Tundra Fire with ease.
@@brunsnick Thank you very much! Sounds like they could be a good 1-2 punch for league nights, at a minimum.
Ah, finally a ball reviewer with a rev rate within my range.
I have the burgundy Hammer with the Vibe core. Thats my wood lane ball.
I drilled this ball 60x5x30 and took it down to 2500. Works great for game 3 of league
I know it's been a while since you posted this, but as a newer bowler, can I ask about how often you add surface to a ball? If you bowl league, do you touch it up before going? I guess I'm asking how long (how many games) does a surface touch-up typically hold up? Thanks for all of your videos; I've watched many and I enjoy your style of presentation and banter.
If you like a certain surface and do well with it (say like a 2000 pad by hand) then do it before every time you bowl. Doesn’t take that long for surface to go away. Shiny balls are not as critical as dull.
So do you still recommend that I sand it or just keep out of box finish, assuming I want this to be a straighter ball.
Keep it shiny for straighter.
would like to see the ocean vibe against the dv8 captiv8
More diff and lower rg than either the captive8 or tundra fire, but I'd hazard that the coverstock is a bit weaker considering it hasn't changed in God knows how many years
Any chance of a comparison video of the Ocean Vibe and the C300 Messenger Powercor pearl since the numbers are similar? Wishful thinking but I figure I'd ask anyway! lol
I have a GB4 Hybrid vs Ocean Vibe dropping this week sometime. Haven’t drilled Messengers.
@BrunsNick nice, can't wait. How about a ocean vibe vs tundra fire
@@chipwhite7170 Maybe! They're a bit far apart in core strength though, might be better suited for an arsenal type overview as the Tundra Fire would be a step down overall.
@@brunsnick aren't the vibe and gb-4 extremely far apart? I thought the gb-4 was in the same vein as the scorpion sting, phaze 3/5 and melee jab?
They’re not that far apart.
Cool tech bowling bowling ball hammer ocean vibe with carbon fiber technology in the bowling ball more strike hitting power at time
I have this ball but I struggle to get it to hook. I’m a low rev, more of a down and in player. If I wanted something a little stronger, what would you recommend?
Black Widow 2.0 Hybrid.
Would this Ocean Vibe be a good ‘ball down’ option after the 2.0 hybrid? What other Hammer balls would be a good ‘ball down’ option from the 2.0 hybrid?
Yes it can be with a little surface. Out of box may be a gap.
How do you like this compared to the Tundra Fire?
I think it's a little more usable with more flare. Out of box surface vs. out of box, I think the Tundra Fire responds a little sharper.
Sa-Weet!!!
Never wondered what the point of putting service on a pearl? The whole point of a pearl is to get down the lane and be a little straighter. Hmmm what the hell do I know
Need the ball to slow down in the right spot. If there’s more oil and you still want that down lane recovery of a Pearl, surface will bring the break point closer to you and make it happen.
@@brunsnick believe it or not the pro at my pro shop said never do it to a pearl. I think he wanted to sell me an Envy Tour or a Black Widow 2.0.
I don’t agree but everyone has different experiences.
@@brunsnick If you do take the surface the off.. can it be recovered if you don't like it? Would normal polishing bring back the out of box finish?
@@JoeBrrFan absolutely. Just be sure to follow the finishing steps to bring it back to factory finish.
