Neill is purely a genius. By the way, I am now riding a 47. Video will come 💁🏻♂️
Nice one Karl, love to hear about the follow up and experience how of the bike exercise influences your fit.
Will do , night and day already
Bravo pour ton courage et ta persévérance Karl. J'attends avec impatience la nouvelle vidéo et j'espère que ça a dû résoudre tes pb
@23:10 Let's face it: "Just go straight to a 120mm stem, slam it, and you should be good" is probably what everyone wants to hear during their bike fit, am I right? lol
You will be surprised by my current setup then 😊
Watching Neill take off Karl’s shoe, change inner sole and put the shoe back on is like a F1 pit stop
Pretty much
Seeing Neill doing what he does is just watching an artist creating art. The questions, the answers, the conclusions, the explanations. It all makes sense for me as a viewer (so also a great job at the capturing and editing of the video!). Thank you RCA for making this content available to the world. Absolutely incredible!
Absolutely blown away with your work Neill. I'd love to hear a followup a month or 2 down the track.
I'm about to come to Australia in few month from France too !
I plan to bring my bike and will for sure go to see Neil for a bike fit !
Bravo belle initiative
You better book in advance
@@troycollett8540 fair point
I like his thinking out loud, makes a lot clear
Incredible stuff! 11 years being wedged into a "fit" what a stud Karl is for soldiering on!
Lucky guy! If I had enough money I´ll do the same! Neil you should do a Bike Fitting Tour over the world ! :D
Money can't buy happiness and well being on a bike
Love Neill! Thanks for sharing!
It’s really awesome to see this cases in video
fascinating! ...and great for the lad to have this all on video so he can remember everything.
Excellent vid and consultation.. I think we all need a Neill :) ride on dudes.. Pete
You truly are a master of your craft and it’s wonderful to watch. 👏
Great to watch a master at work. Great to see someone getting help. He obviously tried a lot of things to solve his issues before flying to Aus
Lmao i was waiting for a baguette coming out of his bibshorts ;)
Next time !
Another masterclass! Thanks Neill 🙏 I watch and I learn. And yes, that foot size difference should have been a gimme for other fitters.
Neill's dad joke game is on point
Such a darn good, informative fit breakdown.
Neill, amazing video. You are extremely professional and your know how is out of charts! Wish all the fitters had 50% of your knowledge
Great video. Bravo.
Another great video from the greatest bike fitter Neill.
Amazing literally the same problems I'm facing with my left leg! Thought about the smaller shoe but it is not cost effective right now. I have learned so much from these videos, I'll pay Neil a visit as soon as I win the lottery! would love to see a follow up session with Karl to see his results in the future.
As an avid cyclist and current sports student (approaching 3rd year Sport Therapy & Rehab BSc degree) I'm always interested in what Neill does within his bike fits and and his postural analysis. I find my knowledge forever expanding. Loved this video and the way everything was described & explained. Takes great dedication to fly all that way Karl, chapeau to you. Good luck with any upcoming events you have planned!
awesome video! neal is an artist!
Just extending to what almost everyone is saying, "We all need a Neil." Good work mate.
I am really glad to see u working 🙂.
Crikey! Are u sure he didn't want to fly to Austria?
Great work there mate. When r u going to do a road show Neil?
Great work by Neill, a true master at his craft.
Really interesting to see a short leg/short arm/tall torso fit. I'm 193cm and have crept down from 61 to 58 and now 56cm frames searching for comfort.
Who do we know that charges a lot of money and only sells lake shoes in London 🤔 can't believe they didn't stagger the cleats, seems like bike fitting 101 to me.
Great work Neil 👍
Maybe they thought that the different size shoes and shims would do the trick after some weeks of adaptation.
Who?
James from Bicycle, the guy featured in the (great) bike fitting series on Cade Media CZcams channel. There are other bike fitters working in the shop, but they all use the same methodology. Sometimes you just miss something which seems evident afterward when you know what was the « solution ».
Great video. Really good info the many short leg/long torso riders
I am going to try the advice you provide in the video as have two different size feet and differen size shoes to accommodate as well. Thank you.
It stopped where it got interesting. Could you go in depth about the exercises you mentioned at the end? I guess this would be useful to a lot of people.
That’s why you need to fly to BNE
Rrally interesting to watch this. Neil is amazing. I myself have some asymmetry issues that have not been fixed/helped by two respected fitters in the UK. Im now wondering if its worth going to a 3rd fitter or just to hang up the wheels. Its frustrating. Love these videos Neil.
Why can't all the bike fitters like Neil, so enthusiast to make rider better on the bike. I had 2 bike fits, 1 Guru and 1 Specialized Retul...I have yet to use both measurements a total waste of time and money.
Brilliant video Neil is a genius
Interesting stuff !!!!
This is pure gold to me. I have a foot that is 8mm shorter than the other, I wonder if that is contributing to me sitting wonky ?
Well, it's worth a try to stagger the cleats by 4mm or so and give it a go, if I get wonky to the other side I'm on to something.
Pure magic! Just WOW.
Crazy to go to a 47, but make sense. I used the Hinault method, from his book, and went to a 53 with 53 toptube (from a 58cm I think), much more exposed seat tube, but the reach was great for flat, but no good for long hills and mountains.
Neill is an amazing Bike Fitter. Love his videos!
I’m just wondering, BEFORE going to an expert Bike Fitter like Neill, would several visits to a Chiropractor and/or Physiotherapist to realign and correct the cyclist’s spine/hips/joints etc make the bike fitter’s job easier and quicker? Keep the videos coming!
another awesome video and not surprised that someone would travel so far ...i suppose part of the problem is knowing how to find bike fitters operating at this level (we know not everyone is a youtuber or on socials) .
First time I have EVER heard someone recommend lowering the front end to help shoulder/neck pain. I had to do the same and I’ve been preaching it ever since. Very interesting.
yeh that's mind blowing but super effective
had a bikefit last week and my fitter did the same, i couldnt believe it but it worked xd
@@tomeksajak4827 stay tuned then… 👀
That was an awesome video! Neil is a legend such a shame his in Australia!
@@cs8sz go and see him
I've watched a few of Neil's videos and thought yeah this guy seemed to know his stuff but watching him actually fun through a fit, on a complex issue is, frankly, amazing. Even more so because i've suffered a very similar issue. Having had several gout attacks the structure of my feet changed, causing them to differ in length, resulting in instability with my walk / gait. This in turn caused the tracking of my foot, knee and hips to become misaligned, resulting in knee pain in both knees.
I went to see a osteopath for help before I knew any of this and they were absolutely useless, a bike fit was much more helpful.
I'm still working through trying to get everything back to normal but thing's like arch supports and hip exercises seem to help
The Teammachine R 01 are here.
We've got one at my shop.. 😉
Would be nice to see some not-so-competitive profiles get their bikefits done. These videos are great, but we are often shown what I presume are the fittest among your clients. Would be curious to see what are the problems more 'average' weekend cyclists face. Amazing to watch, as always :)
Very interesting 👍👏🏻
🎉🎉.. worth watching
I'm the opposite. Right foot is arched, thus smaller 5mm. Left hamstring tight. Sitting all funky (mtb xcm/xco). Sometimes I manage to sit square and the legs spin so much easier... position doesn't last though. Wish Neil was closer.
Brilliant!
Love you Neill! Love the Content! The Butter & cheese bit 😂
“Salted” is the butter, pls
Great content (and some nice little jokes too)
Great comic relief, Neill!!
I have this exact issue, also made worse by being hit by a car. How the hell do you get the hamstring to work again? I reached the shim under left foot stage which goes some way to masking the problem but still lop sided in both position and power output.
What arch support size for the g8 did you use left and right? Thanks for the answer! Good video
somewhere from 1 to 5, each side
I got the same problem with different feet sizes. My right foot always gets numb, no matter where I set the cleats - I mights just end up needing to buy two pairs of shoes just to use one of each and set the cleats in the right position relative to each other.
I see he had a wedge in his shoe I put wedge in mine but I need it on the opposite side when the when I'm I walking or running is that sometimes the case? Our feet mechanics are different when cycling correct?
I’d like to see Neil do a pro mountain bike fitting.
I need to find a Neill in my area. Maryland USA!
In your state, I'd go with Stu Waring in Annapolis. IBFI Level 4 certified bike fitter without having to cross a state line is pretty fortunate
Hello. I have been riding for 14 years and unfortunately developed haglund's deformity in both heels. This has stopped me from riding even indoors for several months now. What bike adjustments can I do to help me get back on the bike? Thank you from Boston Ma. USA.
I'm surprised he didn't clock you when you said Camembert cheese then Tasmania haha. Even though his obe foot is 10mm shorter the cleat position should be the same position relative to the shoe as the shoe size had changed? Unless the foot anatomy is different eg ratio of bone dimensions to foot of course. Ive heard of riders with different metatarsal heights that they correct with arch supports molded to equalise the feet
What about the massive drop in his right shoulder compared to his left when walking?
Steve Hogg quote on the back of the jersey!
Indeed, good catch
I was wondering for some months how long it would take before Neill eventually shifts from narrow pointy shoes to a wide barefoot fit.
It is impressive how a professional eye can see details and spot what an IMR has shown ❤
In the other hand It is depressing to find yourself in such position where you need to travel across the world for a bike fit
Amazing
Careful Sir, before long you will be offered a large contract to live and work in Europe!! Excellent video.
Neill, when will you come to Europe for a few weeks? Lot of customers waiting here for you, sure we can arrange a place for you to stay and fix all the issues over here...
I want a bike fit from you so much, Neill. Traveling like Carl did just isn't in the cards. If you're ever in the U.S., I will book an appointment and travel!
Please Karl with a K. I wish you get your fit sorted
@@KarlGuilloisapologies, Karl. Thank you. I have similar asymmetries due to injury.
One of the best bike fitters full stop .😎💪
100%
"I'll follow you up in a while love, uncle Neill just dropped some content"
It depends - I dropped my bars by over 20mm and found lower a lot more comfortable including riding in the drops but a 10mm longer stem would be torture on long rides.
In this situation, the 10mm longer stem is to compensate for the shorter reach as he goes down to a 47cm frame.
I've been navigating a slight disagreement between my bike fitter and my physiotherapist. And there's enough of a difference in my feet length -- nothing this radical of course, but the same basic cause, a collapsed arch lengthening one foot a fair bit and resulting in about a 3mm-4mm difference -- that this might just resolve it. So the cleat on the left foot is going to go just a touch bit forward as they're both all the way back.
Neill, what hamstring exercises did you give to this guy to strengthen the left hamstring?
Tough ones...
Damn, Neill is good!
I have purchase a full set of insoles, hoping to improve my foot position and pedaling cofor (G8 Pro Series 2620), unfortunately after initial fit (insoles cut to mu size 41.5) even did not fit to shoe! Acording to instruction I started with the lowest arch support. I feel much more comfortable with factory thin insoles in my DMT shoes. I spent 120 Sterlings for nothing.
Where did you purchase from? We would love to help you set them up correctly.
We have the team machine R in WA 🎉
Is there value in just embracing the imperfections in our bodies, providing its doing no serious damage. Our amazing bodies adapt so well
Genius!
your comments in the last minutes are so true - and a bit demoralizing as well. I have seen so many bike fitters giving advices which seam completely incomprehensible to me! One of the big German cycling magazines made a story some time ago, sending the same guy with the same bike to different bike fitters and they "corrected" his position totally different, really in exact opposite ways (partly some cm off!), not two of them came to the same results. Not very encouraging to go to one of these guys... I'm sure Neill would find improvements for me as well, but I assume most guys here would rather make things worse...☹
Do you think the G8 insole should be pronounced gait
We pronounce it Gee Eight, but our intention is to focus on helping people with their gait. :)
Great video! As all from Neil. But there seems to be some ‘influencing’ more (or less) in this one. A bmc latest model in RCA feels a bit ‘accidental’? There are not so many bmc let alone the latest one let alone someone from europe who books a fit at Neil. So great case study imo combined with some influencing. Which is fine by2way. Bmc paid the trip?
I did pay with my own money. All the brands you see here are personal friends. I’m not riding this bike anymore, anyway
90% certain that Neil is throwing shade at "Physio's make bad fitters" James.
Bike fit Rain man 🤯
Have you ever seen someone with such different feet that you've put different sizes on each one, or even a different model?
We need an European Tour
Is there any good bike fitter in France ? Can't fly to Australia for a bikefit unfortunately !
Maybe I can help
@@KarlGuillois si tu as des recommendations de pros sérieux en Bourgogne/IdF/Lyon ça serait top !
Bro flew 15,000 Km to get an adjustment of 10mm.
40’000… back and forth mate
That 10mm might just equal a lifetime of cycling comfort and enjoyment, could be well worth the effort!
The fix is always simple. Finding the problem is the difficult part
if I had the time and money, I would come to the Gold Coast for a fit and a cycling trip... you sure you don't want to come to Japan? hahaha.
Oh Carl. Not only having to interpret English, but THAT sped up Aussie accent. "Sacré Bleu!"🤭🤭🤭
Sorry for my broken English in this one, jet lag killed me tho
@@KarlGuillois Original -->> ^^[Oh Carl. Non seulement devoir interpréter l’anglais, mais aussi l’accent australien rapide.] La blague était sur Neil. Pas toi!
why not do saddle pressure mapping to actually see the twist in of the pelvis.
Done already many times, could not see it
i agree neil is great, but for him to say that "someone using motion caption software would see the angle extension difference between right and left and assume leg length discrepancy" is pure speculation.
how many Kms do you usually do in a year ?
Can anyone ID his jersey?
I can.
@@KarlGuillois Well… will you help me out?
@@Breedweed that’s a very limited edition that you can get on specific request
@@Breedweed with pleasure
@@KarlGuillois Sooo… consider this as a special request :D
wow, the numbers are crazy. He's taller than me and riding a smaller bike. I can't imagine having to buy two different size shoes. Cycling is expensive enough.
on a 47 now
I'm thinking it could be that fat bike fork on the bike causing the problem!
I think most of the fitters around the world don't have a clue of what they are doing and they never go as deep as you do. Here in Quebec, Canada, they still use KOPS and freaking goniometers to measure the cyclist in a static position like they are building a shed.
