I have to give multiversus props for maintaining some of IG’s pacifistic behavior, a lot of his attacks when not enraged are simply him playing with his scrap
Not to mention that his alternative form has the prompt "protect friends"

That's what I love best about these characters movesets. They put so much thought into them and they all have so much personality.
I honestly wish the Iron Giant didn't have his rage mode
he plays fine without it, it really adds nothing to his character and he feels more appropriate without it. I think his base form and size give him enough to work with without the need for the extra gimmick. All his attacks just being him playing and goofing off like he would with Hogarth was more than enough for me. I can't say it ruins the character, but its how I feel. Maybe its just me though.

I definitely understood everyone's concerns and I think he's handled beautifully here, most of his attacks are just him playing with his scrap and even when they do seem deliberate it's all very light hearted, exactly the tone I wanted from him
The rage mode borders on making him a weapon again but I understand the reference was basically obligatory and its still handled beautifully, compared to him using his weapons in the movie this still seems like a very lighthearted and reserved version of his attacks, he's bringing them out of his own volition to help his friends, and he has full control over them. It's beautiful
Half of his moves are just playing with metal. The opponent happens to be in the way

Its honestly adorable that most of his attacks are mostly him doing simple tricks with scrap and his trusters, it shows he isn't trying to fight just a colateral effect of being giant, which fits perfectly with his character

With the emphasis on teamwork, Iron Giant actually works pretty well in this setting as his fighting could be more interpreted as him protecting his teammates, especially since there’s a “Protect Friends” mode.
Apparently teammates can take control of/pilot IG when he's in rage mode so that's also pretty neat
but he already does that his giant hit box will pretty much absorb projectiles or attacks that would hit his teamates

I mean his a huge target I saw someone talk about how he looks very easy to infinite combo to death and since his so slow and gives very obvious cues when his gonna attack he can’t fight back.
I love slow and heavy characters there attacks are satisfying to slam someone into the stratosphere but he’s so *SLOW*
Playing Iron Giant with a Raindog is probably one of the most elite combos imo. The synergy between the 2 can get crazy with the projectiles and rain dogs ability to pull him out of danger.

I really appreciate the fact that Multiversus developers maintain Iron Giant's pacifist behavior. Most of his normal moves are just him playing with scrap and he hursts opponent by accident. The references to the movie are also great. I'm defenetly going to main him.
Pretty much a similar deal with Tom and Jerry. Majority of their moves are them fighting each other, and the other players are just collateral.
This is kinda sick actually yeah, theyhad the guts to add a truly massive character as part of the main cast

Two important things:
First, while on a wall iron giant acts like a platform.
Second, in the most recent patch notes they said iron giant was "the first Colossal-sized character"
You gotta give props to the developers. They could have easily made most of his moveset about using many of his weapons he had when he goes “weapon mode” instead of making it a power up/mode he has to build up but instead they wanted to keep his pacifist motive as went with a more clumsy damage approach. I love that sm

I am honestly so happy. While the use of his "rage mode" was inevitable, I like how actual thought was put into it. His general animations betray the same sweet vibes he has, kinda like he's mostly just playing around, and the damage is accidental. Meanwhile, when "powered up", he seems to move around a little more uniformly, and maybe holding back a lot of the power he had? Maybe it's a sign that he has learned to have some control over what he does, rather than just being a walking gun, attacking aimlessly and senselessly.
He's not even that upset over losing, he just sits there, doing his thing, scrunkly as ever.
im just sad rage mode doesnt have the laser cannons that come out of his back

@@karthkalbi1105 His laser cannon/tentacle things actually do show up in game. They pop out when his ally jumps on his shoulders while in he's in rage mode. His ally then gets to aim and shoot with them.

I like that the weapon mode is not just because, but actually to protect his friends, it feels appropriate to the character since he doesn't want to be a killing machine in the movie, but in this game he has to to protect what he cares about.

As if I needed reason to not main this big hunk of metal, the fact that they made him... well, a giant gives me even more reason to main him.

I wish his moves either did more damage or knock back, especially the down special which is basically IG becoming a meteor, lol.
But that move is quite large and can be dodge canceled to avoid the big endlag landing explosion if it misses, and most of his moves have incredible range so I suppose it's balanced out. All in all it's great to see him and the designer definitely did a great job here as he did with the duo.

The only thing that bothers me is that he basically has DK cargo throw. Which normally isn't anything ground breaking. But then there's that green sphere that holds people in place. I can honestly see people abusing the sphere and then grabbing to walk off. The recovery isn't as big an issue because everyone can wall jump. But if IG just floats far enough away from ledge. Then it's harder for people to recover. And he can attack while carrying.
I don't know, this seems kinda sus. I'm glad they included him regardless.
Seems like they are both side specials and each one is only accesible if you're either in normal mode or in protect mode, so I don't think it can be abused.
If you jump off the ledge while holding someone you instantly let go
He can do the same jump to side blast zone and kill the person you grabbed as some DK players but way better too

So Iron Giant movesets is literally something else. He mostly a heavyweight archetype fighter combine with strength and size with mix-up combination. Even teamwork is important to aid your survivibility depends your life. His weigh scale like closely to King Dedede but his strength compare most to Donkey Kong.
Some moves like Donkey Kong, he can Congo Throw to follow up combos. His up special is similar to it but don't seen to go high enough but don't worry. His side tilt looks similar to DK's headbutt, but instead he Smash the car to his opponent.
His down-air, and side-air is similar to R.O.B.
His down-special is to Yoshi Bomb or Bowser Bomb. But it has a super armor from it.
His up-aeiral is Ryu's jab-lock upper once it hits he can follow up with the combo. Also while using mostly it similarly to R.O.B's hover-boost.
His up-tilt he throws a object like Duck Hunt or Snake. It's like a blast object or something?
His Down-Tilt he place an strange object and then he eats it to increase his attributes that allow his abilities get stronger.
His neutral-special is simple. Like Hero's command list is important to his programming. But he gonna needed bolts and tools to aid him during the battle to use it as an advantage but choose wisely. If he won't be able to find more bolts you'll be in deep trouble as a big fighter so make sure you stay with your teammate to help you survive longer.
For the up-tilt, I immediately thought Mii Brawler
I like that he’s BEG, that means it leaves the chance for other characters bigger then normal to be in the game
I always really like these videos when they come out. You're actually thorough in showcasing every move and interesting little things, plus you always choose appropriate smash music (I especially enjoy matching the cold war stuff with this one)
I'd like to see an addendum though because apparently if two iron giants work together its possible for them to fuse together. Idk if thats true but I saw a video of it
I love how his movements are broken but he does low damage, so it makes him a fair character

Out of all the smash bros characters, Dk is in my eyes the closest to matching the Iron giant but I also see bowser and rob

Seeing the iron giant gives me hope of maybe seeing the optimus or megatron in the game, although the versions of them that make it into the game will probably be their Transformers animated versions and their versions from other continuities might arrive as alternate outfits.
That would be the second platform fighter Optimus and Megatron would be in. The first one was a crossover game from Hudsonsoft where you can play as downscaled versions of Optimus and Megatron and fight characters such as Bomberman and Solid Snake.

They should've gone for "You decide how to deal with the match" Gameplay, deciding if you want to be a weapon or a hero(doing it the way the giant would like to),
With attacks that can be empowered to apply more pressure, but at cost that becoming more agressive: For the "protect friends" form he can decide to use his attacks with more Deadly intent, making them less screen heavy and more directed to the enemy, Dealing way more Damage but are you willing to Sacrafice you'reself for it, because if done too many times Iron giants attacks will become permanitly empowered.

I think most of the things about Iron Giant has already been said (his giant size, pacifism), but he might have below average power for his weight and size. It seems like the knock back his moves inflict are not that spectacular
Well, judging by some, he's more like a team player, with his bulk useful at tanking damage meant for others. Then apparently, his Rage Mode allows teammates to pilot his guns.
