For the person who asked for some battle tactics advice, here I take on an imperial army that on paper should have stomped me but with some clever positioning and timing we not only won but suffered relatively low losses

I set my army up practically the same way the AI does and every battle goes the same watching this video was like a new light actually dawned on me thank you so much for the video!

Great video. One question I have is if you've noticed that in simulations the army of the defending side seems to fight better? Wether they're actually defending or not I remember when I did testing like this even if i f1 + f3 armies of the exact same strength at each other the "defenders" almost always won.

Being on the defensive will always give you an advantage but yes I get what you mean. Keep in mind most of the leaders of the clans in all the factions have tactics leveled up to some degree and as players we tend to neglect tactics as a skill so they will always have a slight advantage in auto resolve 😊

That's brilliant, what do you think about the ideal strategy when using horse archers and cav only ?

Be aware of what you are fighting, against horse heavy armies you should be fine. If you are going against Sturgia or Battania that like to run large infantry blobs dismount your cavalry (F5 by default) They will survive a lot longer, do the same if fighting in forests or on the bog maps. Put the dismounted cavalry in square formation let the blob surround you while your horse archers are doing their job. Once all the infantry are committed give the charge command or hold them in square and let the horse archers kill them off.

Is there a way to intercept an enemy army (not party) as early as possible to break them before they have large number of parties?

    • @KnightlyGuides-yy8xl

Not really, if you are close enough to the army as it is assembling there will be a short window of time to attack and destroy them before too many parties join. As a general rule of thumb if someone declares war on you they are most likely stacking up on your border so patrol the border and with a high enough scout you should spot them from a distance. Also while patrolling take out any smaller parties you find to prevent them being able to join an army. If you have the perks in riding and scouting around 250/275 they both stack prisoners not being able to escape your party. Use this to take their lords off the field. Without lords they cant form armies and they will crumble.

I have never found the high ground / low ground to be overly advantageous. What were most of your losses from? Its hard to offer advice without more info but if you were double their number and their troops were not significantly higher tier that’s a winnable fight.
