Marcus king is one badass dude! I happened upon him on CZcams and cant get enough!
Marcus is definitely an old soul. His music is timeless. I am surprised he is not well known. See him live. So much better than any video can show you.
Saw this band in a small club here in Columbus OH last night and incredible doesn't even come close to defining the musical excellence that comes from this band.
Could never get enough of that voice or that guitar picking!.....the whole damn band....WOW!
Can't listen to this song without getting a little teary...
Look kids!!!! Real music!!! by real musicians playing real instruments.......and not a drop of auto-tune in sight.
THIS ARTIST IS AMAZING WITH THAT RASPY VOICE HE IS ON POINT 👍
Great guitar skills, even better voice, and he’s humble! He’s my age and I’m in awe in comparison! Kids gonna be legend if he’s stays down the line
(ps: this song is written from the perspective of his friend who had committed suicide in South Carolina fyi)
Deep music, better than anything. ❤️
Cant get enough of this band, this song. That voice is so raw and gives chills everytime. Keep the good music comin my man. 👍🏼
Mike D. Love Marcus and his Dad, Marvin King is an awesome blues player.. they play great together.. can’t get enough MKB and his soul filling voice, guitar shredding Legend🔥
The tone he gets out of that ES-335 is just unreal.
* ES-345,
And yeah, he's tone is killer
Yep ... He named it "BID RED" ... lol ..
ES-345...not his Grandfathers as seen on the Opry...Bigsby on GDads.
OMG! Have to listen daily to this soul filling, guitar shredding Legend🔥
These guys are the best I heared in like forever!!! Love them all the way!!!! Thank you for bringing back hope in my music life again... Bigg hug and lots of love from the Netherlands!!! Peace, love and understanding!!! PLU Dave
Nothing could be finer...CAROLINA!
I love this song and this band!!
Unreal. What a voice
Music is still alive and well! Soothes my soul every time I hear them.
Saw this band at The Eric Clapton Crossroads Fest in Dallas , they just burned the place down !!
He's the real deal!
Imagine Marcus in 10, 20 years🤔👽👽👽
Ken Vehikite ONLY better as time goes on, already a guitar shredding Legend🔥
Ironically, and nevertheless marvelously, the Ole Opry version of this song, with limited time and the house band and back up singers, is an unsurpassed gem compared to this one.
Marcus King is a jewel that needs as little unnecessary arrangements as possible.
Re-listen to the Opry version, it will move you to tears every f-ing time.
At least it does it for me.
Cordially disagree. The version in the Van is the pinnacle imo. The outro is my favorite part and the lack of it on the opry version is unfortunate.
Opry and jam in the Van versions are both good, just different. What I like about them is you can hear a song in ten different performances and each one will be a little different.
His voice is alive
Jeeze that dude is good!
Wish they had played this when I saw them! Otherwise an incredible show
It doesn't get any better than this.
the best can't wait to see you guys live again in few weeks
Just saw them on Colbert. Fell in love with them. Great sound.
amazing , especially from 02:05
stupendo.. non ci sono paole!
🔥
Luv that song!!
He's voice sounds like the blues version of Jason Isbell.
Same album producer, Dave Cobb, same influences, similar sound.
🎸🎸🎶🎤👍👍🇺🇸
He's great without the horns
Gurizada voando alto
He is Anthony Hamilton's white counterpart
I dreamed of the day when I'd hold you in my arms again
Read you all the letters I wrote but never sent
Give you all the pieces of me
To put 'em back together
Put them back together again
Life has a way of writing your story for you
And the hero doesn't always get his girl
What if you could change the ending to the novel they been writing
Leave no resolution
So, Goodbye Carolina, searched my whole life to find you
I hate to leave you but I hope you'll know
Where I'm going I'll be seeing you
So hold my hand as I'm leaving
Hoped my pain would be enough reason
I'll see you on the other side of the Blue Ridge sky
But now I'm going
Hate to tell you goodbye
Say it takes a selfish man to leave on out from his old hometown
Without saying why he's going
But you can come take the rest of me
Early in the morning
Tell me your goodbyes
Where I'm going I won't have these reminders of what I lost
What was taken away from me
And I hope you'll understand I was a broken man in my own hometown
Need to find my own peace
So, Goodbye Carolina, searched my whole life to find you
I hate to leave you but I hope you'll know
Where I'm going I'll be seeing you
So hold my hand as I'm leaving
Hoped my pain would be enough reason
I'll see you on the other side of the Blue Ridge sky
But now I'm going
Hate to tell you goodbye
So goodbye Carolina, searched my whole life to find you
I hate to leave you but I hope you'll know
Where I'm going I'll be seeing you
I'll be seeing you
I'll be seeing you
Love the song up until the trumphet
The guvnor
Think of all the bad stuff that has come out of the South...slavery, segregation, poverty, lots of drugs, and more recently the epicenter of obesity and diabetes. Then you have The Marcus King Band! The're from South Carolina and are amazing. Thanks for giving the South a well needed boost! Keep up the good work.
The same can be said of the North. Just saying 🤷♂️
With the exception of TMKB
