- 'Peckham on a wet Saturday afternoon. Next door's budgie. Aunty Beryl. The Dog & Duck...'
If you went to the cinema in the early '90s this ad for Bacardi will be seared into your subconscious. There was even a Scottish version if you lived north of the border, 'Aunty Morag, The Thistle Bar...'.
A crisp white linen suit and a speedboat home has never been so desirable. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
This remains my favourite cinema advert from a time when there were some very good ones around. It made me dream of one day going to live in a tropical island. I have now been living in Phuket, in Thailand, for ten years, and this sort of lifestyle is right here, whenever I want it. The last bus home is usually a motorbike-taxi, not many people wear white linen suits, and I don't have a neighbour named Beryl, but I can live the dream.
I’m watching it on a tropical island right now as well, Velassaru in the Maldives. No sign of Auntie Beryl here either, but the search is half the fun.
This was a truly memorable advert from my childhood. I remember it was frequently shown in my local cinema, before almost any movie.
My favourite cinema ad of all time! Thanks for uploading!
Mine too 👍
Happy Days! Always puts me in a good mood :-)))
Loved this advert!
Awesome! It's my best cinema advert of all time!
Actually, i was looking for the ad for many years, maybe 20 years because i remember when i watched it the first time when i was about 19 i think i said that one day i want to go to that island and have some drinks at a bar on the beach and then go back with the speed boat like in the ad. its been so many years and then i decided yesterday to google' bacardi ad catching the last bus home..' and found it.
I miss those times so much.
Just superb. It put hope into life; it took you 'somewhere that you were part of things'. It was pictures, and words, and music, to where hope had come true.
I'd usually finished my bag of pick a mix by the time this advert came on!
I don't think there was a film during the mid-to-late 80s that this advert DIDN'T play in front of.
Put it back in the cinema ;-)
Ah happier times when glossy cinema advertising was usually squeezed in between an advert for Poppits - available in the foyer and the Taj Mahal curry restaurant down the high street
I want to make adverts like this. Iconic.
Fridge Productions this was posted 7 years ago, any progress?
The Dog and Duck, down the High Street.
Absolute classic. When I was about 14 or 15 and watching this commercial in the cinema I thought I would be running along jetty's to go home when I was older. How different it was..but I still dress in floaty linen white shirts and khakis when Im on holiday..thinking Im down The Dog and Duck!. Anyone know who done the voiceover?
i think it was Nicolas Ball
As a former resident of Peckham for 14 years, I can vouch for that... apart from the Barcardi. Yeuch!
Filmed on a small island off the north coast of The Dominican Republic...called Cayo Levantado
I bought the island and the bar even got the boat then I woke up lol it's somewhere I'd love to have gone...
@PatrickMuirhead Thanks for the info. Iconic advert. Brings a smile everytime. Talented people.
Nicholas Ball (Hazell) did the voiceover.
This made me feel slightly maudlin; thinking of my cold, miserable, overcrowded England.
Why,where do you live now?
As above.
Simon
What, on a tropical island?
terry fuckwitt
No - NW England.
NW England is not overcrowded. Unless you're very, very fat.
if... you're drinking bacardi....a lot!
I'm having illicit thoughts about my Auntie Beryl.
IF... you're taking acid.
@theninja1800 I assumed that it was in that neck of the woods.
Life was easier when I didn't have any worries ?
Listen to One Direction Night Changes - there’s a similarity to them
🏝️🍹👑🎬🔥♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I used to know Peckham very well and it was much nicer before those alcoholic yuppies moved in!
Wonder who directed ?
What is the title of this song..?
Can any geoguessrs id the locations? The rock at 0:05 looks like those at Seychelles and so do all the island silhouettes, but I can't find a good match
Looks like Peckham to me.
