  • Making wild rice in the Instant Pot couldn't be easier!! Being from the Middle East, we love eating rice. Wild rice is actually healthier than both white and brown rice. it is filled with protein and has high dietary fiber. It is also gluten free, making it a perfect choice for your gluten free diet. Wild rice is not actually rice. It is aquatic grass that looks and cooks like rice. It is an edible grain found mainly in North America. This rice gives me the same satisfaction as eating white rice, but in a nutritious way. By cooking it in the instant pot, it cuts the cooking time in half.

    Here's how to make it:
    Ingredients:
    3 cups of wild rice
4 cups of water or broth
    Preparation:
1-Rinse the wild rice under cold running water
2-Add the rinsed wild rice to the instant pot along with 4 cups of water
3-Close the lid and hit the multi-grain function on the instant pot and let the pressure come down naturally then open the lid carefully.
4- Fluff the rice gently with a fork. Wild rice is ready to be enjoyed.

I released the rice when the timer went off. We like rice with a tiny amount of structure. Turned out
Great. Will be sautéing onions, carrots, celery butter, dried cranberries and than making a light gravey. Hum

I just don’t know when the steam is out completely to open the lid to the instant pot

The instant pot will not open until all the steam is gone. Once the steam is gone, the instant pot will open.

I'm trying to make this now.
I only had two cups rice. So I only added three cups of vegetable stock low sodium

Are you sure you used 3 cups of rice? Trader Joes rice is a 16 oz bag - 2 cups.

Yes, 3 cups of wild rice to 4 cups of water. Our trader joes doesn't sell the wild rice anymore. It hasn't been available for a very long time.

You cook it for 40 minutes and then you let it come down to a natural release for another 40 minutes?
