Their mother was the only person in the family that supported Mario and Luigi. Bless her heart!
To be fair, the aunt did smack Arthur for the comment he made about their acting so she probably has at least some faith in them. The cousin didn't seem to care either way, she was too preoccupied with her phone.
Bless the girls.
I agree Marie did shook her head and felt annoyed in the scene so yeah the mom and the aunt were the only ones who cared about the commerical being good. Gald I’m the not the only one who knew that they both cared 😂
I'm sure they just joking except Mario's dad
@@mr.darkassassin7997 How are they joking?
As an Italian American, this Italian dinner is accurate, only problem, relatives aren’t as racist as they are irl
Besides them kicking Mario's dreams down, it looks super comfy. Maybe I should find an Italian girlfriend...
@@DeviIGundam get ready to eat then, Italian family always cook
Damn🤣
As someone with autism who grew up in an extended and very loving and supportive family, I come to find out that Italian families, Filipinos families, French families, etc have lots of things in common. They all have large extended families that are like rabbits where they just keep breeding and breeding until they say “we’re done”, they loved to cook and feed their families and other people and some have very family oriented. 😊😊
This makes me wish for the sequel to be about Mario's extended family.
Basically a sopranos cartoon.
Are we just gonna ignore the fact about how super caring of a brother Luigi is in this scene? I mean, not only does he try to comfort Mario after being let down by his dad’s words, but also that pasta plate he brings him has absolutely zero mushrooms, since he knows Mario hates them.
Like man, I think we all need a good brother just like our very own Luigi.
Indeed. That shows the strong bond between the two. They would do anything for each other
Yup, we do.
Amen to that.
1:52 “Welp, can’t let this pasta go to waste!” 😂
@@hannaharnold9832RIGHT?! Thank u! Like Luigi is just adorable in the movie. And a perfect example of a true caring person
I wasn't expect to see Mario/Luigi's family made it in the movie.
From what I read up, they were based on designs Nintendo drew up years ago but never used them. Given those facts, I find it a missed opportunity that Nintendo never included a family portrait of Mario and Luigi's family in the Mario Bros. House in the games. They could've at least did that.
@@treseancann1261
It's quite cool to see them used for the movie itself.
@@treseancann1261that and Mario’s father and his uncle are based off 2 characters from Zelda ocarina of time
@@Joshua05005From what I read up, Nintendo originally intended to use those designs for Mario and Luigi's father and Uncle Arthur.
It was admittedly a bit of surprise for me, especially considering how I may have gotten implications from the games that the brother’s parents at least were dead.
I love how Mario's picking out the mushrooms from his plate, and passing them for Luigi. A little goofy bit that also displays some character.
“Goofy” uhuh could say the same lol
And the guy who looks exactly like Luigi would not stop bothering Luigi. Let poor Luigi eat the mushrooms
That’s Uncle Tony
That might be why Luigi's the taller one.
@@Mac14329 Mario hates Mushrooms the same way Popeye hates Spinach; it takes some adjusting to eat it.
We all need a brother like Luigi in our lives. I cannot be more thankful for how supportive and encouraging he is to Mario.
I wish me and my own brother were that close. He’s wonderful and I’m very proud of him. But I don’t get to see or even talk to him much because he’s always so busy with his job and living a little ways away from me
I feel the same way about my sister. Ever since covid, we’ve been very estranged because we had very different but well meaning views on covid. She was more concerned about people’s physical health whereas I was more concerned about people’s emotional, social and mental well being. I was very opposed to Covid protocols but I still followed them anyway despite that. She falsely accused me for not wearing my mask and assumed that I wasn’t taking the health protocols very seriously but in reality I really was doing the best that I could, just not to her higher expectations. She did to not just me but to everyone in our family including my brother in law and my niece and nephew. Now, she refuses to see or talk to us due to her going through a lot of stuff right now to the point where shes just hates everyone and lashes out at us including her kids and my brother in-law so she’s going in to therapy to help her get her emotions under control and coping skills on NOT to take your anger and frustrations out on people she loves.
Looking at Mario and Luigi, it makes me wished I can have THAT loving and close of a very meaningful and supportive relationship with my own sister. I wished I can have a sister who is just like Luigi in a way that I feel more supported, understood, safe, comforted and loved WITHOUT feeling like I’m an idiot or a screw up. 😔😥😥
@@disneyfan9134 sounds like you and your sister have trauma of your own. I’m so sorry. But you can still do your part, and help your sister. The best thing you can do is to not give up on her cause she’s still your family and based on what you said you must love her a great deal but still have doubts. No matter how many times she pushes you away you can always come back to support her and let her know that your there for her no matter what. Just because it feels like your a screw up doesn’t make it true. Maybe this is your chance to be her Luigi in a figurative sense. To be there for her and to never give up on her, and if you do this you may become closer and she’ll realize how much you mean to her.
@@carolinebergin4633 Thanks for the comforting words, really. You’re right, I do have doubts about my relationship with my sister because we let our views of Covid get the better of us (with her, it’s mostly the fear of catching and dying of Covid which she and her family have caught it 3 times whereas with me, it’s mostly the fear of not being able to hug or socialize with anyone outside of social bubble and had admittedly almost committed suicide because of it). Sadly she blocked out all my text messages and has never called me and when we do get together in person with family, she barely talks to me. When I try to talk to her, she just feels uncomfortable like she doesn’t want to be here. During Covid, I tried my very best to communicate better with her and set her boundaries by letting her know exactly how I feel but she gets so defensive and angry that she takes it out on me and lashes out at me and it makes me feel like I’m stepping on egg shells with her, no matter how hard I try. I’m on the autism spectrum and even though I’m a lot more sociable, independent, socially and emotionally intelligent, empathetic, compassionate and self aware of my quirks than all my special needs and autistic friends, when it comes to dealing with difficult people who are just jerks, my communication skills need some tweaking. Not to as that it’s terrible but it’s only because I struggled to use “I” statements in my sentences without it sounding like I’m pointing fingers at her and it’s sooo hard. There was one instance last year where she did reached out to me when I woke up one morning and had a very sharp pain in my lower back. It was soooo painful and excruciating that I couldn’t get out of bed and when I tried to get out of bed and have a meal or bring something to bed, it was agonizing. All I could do was lie on the side of bed in my side crying because I was both very scared and in excruciating amount of pain. I called my mom on my cell and ask if there was something I can do. Unfortunately she, my dad and my aunt and uncle were visiting the Yukon at the time on a road trip so there was nothing she could do so I was very surprised to find out my sister called me. My sister told me straightforward on what I should do to help relieve the pain and despite my doubts, she really helped me during my time of need and it made me realize that there may still be good and love inside her heart for me and that there was still hope for us to rekindle our sisterly relationship. However recently I was told by my nephew that she has been having issues with her new boyfriend and what really broke my heart and deeply upset me was that he said that she really doesn’t like me at all and it left me shocked, deeply hurt and heartbroken. How could someone like my own big sister say or even think that way about me when I legitimately didn’t do anything wrong to her at all recently? What kind of an ungrateful and hateful person would hate her own family that loves her. And it wasn’t just me she was hating on, it was also the rest of my family. When I was told this, I just sat on the couch next to my nephew crying and I can tell my niece and nephew were also hurt by their mom too so I comforted them both too. Hearing those unkind words from what my nephew just told me, left me feel hopeless and destroyed inside. 😔😔😥😥
They got the Italian-American Family Dinner energy down to a T here 😂

I LOVED how Luigi tries to comfort and reassure Mario that he’s NOT bringing Luigi down while also bringing him his food without the mushrooms in it. Luigi is such a very sweet, attentive brother with such a very big heart! Now I know where Luigi gets his big heart from! 😊😊
I love how this scene gives us a deeper glimpse into Mario and Luigi's humanity. Behind all Goomba-stomping and Fire Flowers, deep down, they're just average Joes with a family of their own, just like you and me.
I NEVER THOUGHT I'D SEE ACTUALLY MARIO AND LUIGI'S WHOLE ENTIRE FAMILY IN THE MOVIE!!
It's wonderful!! 😊😊
From what I read up, Mario and Luigi's family was based on designs Yoichi Kotabe drew up decades ago but never used them. 1:38 you just realise that subtle moment they rarely do in animated movies, Mario rejected Luigi’s offering of pasta. But it’s so subtle like shaking his head. It’s those little cues to tell you without saying anything so many things: he’s not hungry, he’s too upset and his mind is elsewhere. I don’t know why I only noticed it now, but I love that they did that. Despite how much people hated pacing of the movie being too fast, I feel like it’s one of those rare moments you feel like it works to suggest how much time could be saved on exposition when it actually works, where you don’t have to spell it out.
That’s why this movie needs an extended cut so bad and this movoe would’ve been illumination’s answer to spider verse

The fact that Mario despises mushrooms so much is proof of how much he loves his brother. Mario would do ANYTHING for Luigi, which later includes eating tons of the food he hates in order to be strong enough to save him!

Mario and Luigi’s mother kind of reminds me of my former Filipino nanny in some way. Something about the she always wanted to make sure I ate something whenever I was too upset to eat over something that was really bothering me. She was really like a second mother to me and my 2 older siblings in a way that she loved and treated us like we were like her own children, most especially with me and that because I’m the youngest, she always said that she has a soft spot in her heart for me. She, alongside our own parents, raised us to be compassionate, kind, smart, independent and helpful people.
The way that Mario and Luigi’s mother always wanted to make sure everybody in the family, including Luigi had something to eat and that they don’t go to bed hungry is incredibly touching and heartwarming. You can absolutely see where Luigi gets his helpful and hospitable nature and big, loving and tender heart from: his mother. Mario is very much like his father in a way that he’s kind of a tough guy with a soft heart and yet he’s also strong willed, determined, headstrong, courageous, stubborn, brutally honest and is very protective of those he loves most especially with baby brother Luigi.
Awwwww
@@gamerbro8399 Yeah. Whenever I start crying about something that has been something painful and emotional in my past, she would hug me tight and close to her heart, rub my back, stroke my head, massaged my temples (which usually doesn’t help to calm me down but I still appreciate her trying anyway) and hum me a song to help soothe me. We hugged each other crying together. She really hated to see me cry and watch me go through so much emotional pain that I feel in my heart. She starts crying so much because she only wants me to be happy and to see me be happy always. I know it sounds like toxic positivity but from her point of view, it breaks her heart to see me go through such emotional pain and hardship. I asked her if she can cuddle with me cause I really needed some of her motherly love and comfort. Normally, I wouldn’t ask that question to just anyone unless it’s someone that I’m extremely close with and fond of and whom I feel the most safe, comforted and loved by. She gave me cuddles and she let me rest my head on her chest and I can hear her soothing steady heartbeat as it gradually calms me down that I end up falling asleep in her arms as she hums me a lullaby.

What I like about this is you can tell it's all good natured ribbing, no real harm intended. Mario's dad wasn't even trying to be mean. He was asked his opinion and gave it as honestly as his wife gave her praise. Saldy like her praise, it was a bit TOO the point.
You're right. Yes, he _did_ give his _honest_ opinion, but that doesn't mean he has to be hurtful about it. Everyone knows that even honesty can be hurtful if you be mean about it or don't use tact
The fact that the father asked, "What'd I say?" after Mario storms off along with everyone (even the uncles who also mocked their commercial shortly beforehand) gives him disapproving looks shows that he _still_ doesn't realize how insensitive he was being
@melaniebrooks He wasn't though. Not intentionally. That's the disconnect and why he asked what he said. He wasn't trying to be hurtful. That's his confusion. He heard his brothers and he didn't say anything till he was asked. Mean for thee but not for me kind of deal.
@@johnnycage112 I think the real difference, the uncles were mocking at the very amateur commercial, and not the actual plumbing business itself. The father isn't poking fun at anything - he straight up says he thinks they're making a mistake. It's not the being made fun of that bothers Mario. It's the lack of support for him and his brother trying to make it with their own business that drives him to his room.
@Blazieth Again he was asked his opinion and he made legitimately good arguments. He wasn't trying to hurt anyone's feelings.
@@melaniebrooksWell, that's being honest means. It going to be hurtful.
Mario Bros Mom: you said Mario was nuts, and being disrespectful for his decision! You ought to be ashamed of yourself
My thoughts exactly. I was fuming at what he said.
“I think you’re nuts”
it belongs in a movie theater!
His nuts what?
Chris Pratt: What? It's suppose to be funny. That's right you gotta have a trademark. Gotta stand out. Dad, what do you think?
Charles Martinet: I think you're nuts. You don't leave a steady job for some crazy dream. And the worst part...you're bringing Charlie down with you.
Chris Pratt: Well, thanks Dad. Thanks for your support.
Im love Luigi in the movie the little brother adorable, a hero and incredible.💚
Luigi is too innocent and adorable for this world!
When me and my brother first saw this scene, we were flabbergasted on how big the Mario family was, it was still really cool to see though! 😂
Typical Italian-American family
Mario’s family is funny😂😂
I don’t like them The only good member of Mario’s family is Luigi
Mario and Luigi should introduce them to Peach, Daisy, Rosalina, Toad, Toadette, Donkey Kong, Pauline, Yoshi, Wario, Waluigi, and Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends.
@@treseancann1261The catch is, this movie is animated and the Sonic movies are live-action, so it’d be pretty tricky to pull off a crossover movie like that. It’d be really cool, tho.
@@actiontoons5422 and his mom and aunt
@@cavarianbarnes5079 I still say Luigi is the best
Let Luigi eat, Uncle Arthur and another guy who looks just like him.
The one in blue? His name is uncle Tony 🥲
Also Arthur was the one mocking and Tony didn’t let him eat
He took the salad away from him
I played Mario ever since I was 4. This is how I imagined how would Mario’s family look like
John DiMaggio voiced their uncle. Awesome!
And I think Tom Kenny voices the other one!
@@yoshikagekira4088no it’s Rino Romano
At least mario and Luigi 's parents are alive in this film than the 1993 film.
