hi there
Lets hope it doesn't get blocked again!!!!!
Awesome! Loved this movie!
10:30 At The Antique Shop
“Does This Thing Work?”
“Yeah Works Great, You Just Have To Blow Into It”
9:47 the “skeleton Yoshis” are called Dry Bones
I gotta say, Chris Pratt really made Mario's voice his own and I genuinely enjoyed it!
Yeah like for some reason when I heard him for the first time, I was also skeptical of it. But after watching the movie, it's so weird. Because it's like I quickly got used to it. I don't know what it is, but there's just some little bit about his voice that has its own charm.
There are actually moments where you can hear a little bit of the Brooklyn Come through Chris’s voice. And if we got anything to go by that little Plumbing commercial segment, Chris shows he actually CAN sound closer to Game Mario if he could.
I absolutely adore Charles Martinet as Mario. He will always be No 1 to me. But I felt like hearing his own Mario throughout the entire movie will get tiring over time.
And I’m kind of glad it ended up being like that. Because getting to hear the cameos Charles makes as Mario’s Dad and Giuseppe is the sweetest thing ever!
it would’ve been annoying if it was his exaggerated voice in the whole movie , so am not sure why people were bitching so much about chris pratt being terrible .
Yeah, they even referenced the Mario voice from the games at the begining and i think no one would really want to hear that voice for a whole film 😅
@@jiji7250yeah, it’s almost like he took an acting class because up until now he’s been a crappy actor
We all know that Mario was an Italian plumber from Mario games, this movie, it’s Italian-American (Brooklyn) accent, and really respect with Chris Pratt’s role, I mean he’s doing his best as he can, and I like Chris Pratt role as Mario, but mostly his roles were Peter Quill/Star Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy, and Owen from Jurassic World.
As a Mario fan I was pleasantly surprised by this. I feel like it hit all the right notes with being a Mario adaptation
I really enjoyed my time watching the movie and as a Mario fan I just want more in the future.
I am also a Mario fan when it comes with Super Mario Games, as well as Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart
Yeah as a video game adaptation, I think they nailed what made Mario Mario, but in terms of an animated movie, it's really nothing special, at least in my opinion.
@@timtnt1293 Dude, are you serious, right now? The animation was amazing.
@@AdamRee-lx8uh I wasn't dissing the animation. I'm talking about the actual movie as a whole. It doesn't do a whole lot as far as movies go. The animation was really stunning, especially for Illumination.
Love Luigi casually calling the dog a hellhound lol
Should’ve say bloodhound rather hellhound
Luigi is too cute, must protec
@@pabloruiz6224 Dude, come on; it’s not that big of a deal.
@@AdamRee-lx8uh What? What happens if he accidentally says something like a bad way, instead of a good way?
@@AdamRee-lx8uh So kids should’ve don’t get attention hearing Luigi’s a bit of frightening when he might be swearing, and kids find out if that is inappropriate, and for viewers?
I saw this movie in IMAX, and it was awesome. Just pure, unadulterated fun. My favorite part was Jack Black's incredible performance and banger song, "Peaches". I also love the amazing animation, awesome references, colorful action, and great music and humor.
All of them: fantastic soundtrack, the “Peaches” song, animation, great references from previous Mario games throughout the years, awesome cameos, etc.
Mario and Nintendo Universe finally gets the love they deserve
Also, other Video game references (eg. GameCube tone, Jumpman and Pauline cameos, Star Fox, NES console, A Pit game)
@@pabloruiz6224 That's not Jumpman. That's just a random guy name Guisseppe dressed as Mario's original design(Jumpman). Mario is Jumpman.
I saw it in CineMark
i loved all the references they made. The Bowser wearing his white wedding suit, as well as Brooklyn, thats from Super Mario Odyssey. Animation was 10/10. Score was 10/10. amazing movie
Brooklyn is not in Odyssey.
@Sid New No, but there is the city world, the actual name escapes me, but it was still a cool "almost" reference lol
@@LarinWheeler
It was new dank city. Same Mayor though with the OG heroine from Donkey Kong.
Brooklyn doesn’t originate from Odyssey.

I’m impressed that you guys managed to avoid the spoilers for over a month
Besides the post credit scene, I don't think there's anything to spoil. The trailers show almost everything
I was impressed they managed to avoid the Peaches song for over a month 😅
@@jamesbuchananbarnesss spoiler alert they didn't hate to be that person but yea there's no way
@@JonytobiUchiha i guess that if they're waiting to do a reaction, at the moment they saw anything related to the film they would just not see it, most logical way I think people could avoid that song idk 😂
I watched it yesterday and I managed to avoid all spoilers besides the peach song
13:15 I definitely yelped out loud in theaters when Peach hit the floating dress move from Smash 🤣❤️
That move actually originated from Super Mario Bros. 2 (the USA version), and was then subsequently carried over into Smash, where it became a staple of her moveset going forward. 🤓
@@MattTOB618 the more ya know! I love nerd details!
@@TheRedcat14 If you love nerd details, this is the movie for you! How about when the Toad asked about whether the NES cartridge works and he was told he "needed to blow into it"?
From SMASH??
I thought it was from the Princess Peach game that I used to play on the DS lite. Was one of my favorite games at the time.
While there was not much to the story, this movie was just SO MUCH FUN!! They hit it right on with the nostalgia! Brought back so many memories!! The animation was also stunning!
When Luigi said 'they do if they have good taste,' in answer to 'do woman find him attractive,' you know he's a real standup brother right there ❤😂 love Luigi haha
The "Sit, Jam with me" has to be my favorite bowser bit. Jack does everything perfectly. Also, that car scene in the DK kingdom was supposed to have music from one of the Donkey Kong games that fit better than what they went with!
It doesn’t matter, to be honest; I actually like that they put an 80s song in that scene, since Mario had been around in the 80s.
@@AdamRee-lx8uh also since the song choices in this movie were all classic bangers
@@packedentertainment2866yep! Songs like: Holding Out for a Hero, Take On Me and Thunderstuck (those are the only old songs I recognize)
In The Lego Movie, Chris Pratt was just meant to sound like Chris Pratt. He could be as wide and expressive as he needed to be with his own voice.
In this movie, he was supposed to play more of specific character, not just emphasize his own mannerisms.
This version of Mario is more…I don’t if “serious” is the right word, but he wasn’t supposed to be as outwardly carefree and jovial as he’s often portrayed in many of the games.
He’s depicted as a blue-collar working class Brooklyn man.
He’s not looking for adventure, he just wants to get his brother back, that’s his main focus. He’s not there to mess around. He seems very straightforward.
With Emmett, Chris had a bit more freedom to sound as joyful as he could range, Pratt MADE Emmett,
but with Mario, Pratt needed to fit within the character. They likely did have to “restrain” him a bit, because it’s trying to be consistent with his working class Plumber character, and also maintain that Brooklyn-ish tinge throughout the movie.
I’m sure if Pratt was told to use his full normal voice, he likely could express joy a lot more vividly, but I feel they didn’t want it to just sound like Chris Pratt’s normal joyful inflections, like with Emmett. They still wanted that Brooklyn tinge.
Along with the fact that this version of Mario itself seems a bit more “subdued” compared to his video game counterpart (with still having moments of joy, but not as outwardly expressive as Game Mario)
For the particular character they were going for in this movie, I think he did a good job.
Love the movie. I think all voice actors did really well surprisingly. The experiences of watching this film 4 times in the cinema with each time being great, are ones to remember. So glad it’s doing well in the box office.
You guys need to understand that Mario and Luigi used to speak like regular people with Brooklyn accents back in the 80s, since they’re canonically from Brooklyn, New York, which is why they casted Chris Pratt and Charlie Day to voice them. Do you guys not know about the old Mario cartoons? The iconic Brooklyn Mario was from a WWE wrestler, Captain Lou Albano, who is Italian-American. If they go with the voices from the games, I feel like it’s not gonna fit, it would be kinda weird and annoying, that includes the other characters. Video game and movie are two totally different things.
$1,000,000,000.
Of course most of us don't know about the old Mario cartoons! They aired back during the 90's, which is decades apart, so obviously most Mario fans today wouldn't know about them, since they weren't even born yet.
I’m not lying if I tell you that “peaches” is still stuck in my head. I cannot stop humming lol
I had a smile on my face for the whole movie. It is just a fun time lol
Like 10 minuted into the movie and my brain didnt stop finding references everywhere
I've never been too much into videogames but I sure played some Mario Party as a kid and I remember when my dad gifted me the New Super Mario Bros. for Nintendo DS, so the Mario games have been a big part of my life and my childhood, and all these years later, looking at how beautiful this movie was, the soundtrack, the references, ALL OF IT WAS SO GOOD OMG I LOVED THIS ONE
NEW SUPER MARIO BROS DS W VIDEOGAME MY GOD THE MEMORIES
New Super Mario Bros DS (XL) gives me so much memories with the handheld console, and it’s my favorite video game, alongside with Mario Kart DS and Super Mario 64 (DS version; remake)
I love everyone's redesign in this!Peaches redesign in this looks amazing especially at 12:04 and 13:11! I dont know how they got the animation to be this bright, saturated and colourful. Props to the animation team at Illumination.
Bowser wanting to marry Peach is not a new concept.
And kamek dressed as peach
@@shovelknight14 *Also,* not a new concept.
Yeah, I believe it was in Super Mario Odyssey and one other game which I can’t remember…
That's literally been the thought on why he kidnaps her so much for decades
@@BlackGirlMarvel even the first Mario movies were like that. Peach got kidnapped by bowser for marriage purposes and then married a prince by the end after Mario saved her
I love this film so much. It's the Mario film I dreamed about watching ever since I was little. The plot is simple but that's mainly to play it safe and not have Mario's first time in decades in theaters to have the film be crowded with a lot of Mario characters being focused on and being apart of the story. Would've liked if Luigi was in this film more maybe a minute or 2 more but what I saw I absolutely loved Charlie Day as Luigi and everyone did a great job with the voices
Yeah I think this movie is just to “rewrite/recap” the main Mario games throughout Nintendo’s history. I think the sequel will be about Luigi Mansion or at least Luigi focused because we all know Luigi lacked screen time and not a lot of character development. I hope that the next movie will reintroduce forgotten Mario characters, mainly Daisy and waluigi/Wario.
Another few things I hope they fix is pacing issue, deeper story, and fix toad’s character. Toad and Mario’s relationship is non existent and Toad really didn’t provide much help just comedic relief.
Overall the first movie was to play it safe as many said. To summarize the entire Mario games. I hope that Nintendo changes the Mario formula in the games and not just repeat “x character is kidnapped” or “Bowser is scheming to…” Odyssey is somewhat of a new Mario. And the next Mario movies will change our perspective of Mario and his world
Congratulations on getting the video back up. Now, let's hope NBC Universal leaves it alone. Anyway, this movie is awesome. Just pure, unadulterated fun. My favorite part was Jack Black's incredible performance and banger song, "Peaches". I also love the amazing animation, awesome references, colorful action, and great music and humor.

THANK YOU FOR WAITING TO REACT TO IT
now you gotta react to the 1993 one 😅
Fantastic video game film alongside other video game films, and excited you guys react this film.
I like to think of this movie as an adaptation of Super Mario 1-3 that’s why there isn’t so much of a story just a save and rescue and since he just met Peach that’s why he had to save his brother. Now with the sequel, I believe they will flesh it out more and give more context because the other Mario games have more of a story to them so they have more there to go off of.
They had up to 3d land/world
That's still not a good excuse lol
"Comment every easter egg"
Well im not gonna do every single one but i do want to point out my boy Diskun
In brooklyn towards the end theres a hardware store themed after him, and for those not in the know, he is the japanese mascot for the disc attachment for the Famicom (their version of the NES)
Anybody else reminded of the Mario brothers when watching greg and Jon
Fun fact: the two people who played the blue toads that were messing with Mario and toad are the voice actors that play cuphead and mugman from the cuphead show
Yoshi’s island was present but the iconic Yoshi that is attached to Mario was the teaser.
Also if y’all didn’t noticed when they are putting all the gifts on the table, one of the shy guys puts yoshis egg on the table as a gift. That’s how it ends up in the sewers in the last post credit scene

The past few weeks of movie drops have been banger after banger after banger. Love you guys and your reactions! ❤️❤️❤️
Agreed. Well said
The score to this movie is definitely the best video-game adapted score I've heard. I'd also give the soundtrack a listen on it's own because they're are some unused tracks in there as well. I'd want more Nintendo movies or shows just to hear the music alone!
It would have been nice if they used more of the music from Nintendo's library during most of the action set pieces rather than 80s pop songs. Bit of an odd choice in my opinion 🤔

I would love a movie series of this like they did for Sonic. Pretty sure they have a second one on the way.
Sonic 3 shows up first, while we soon get a sequel for The Super Mario Bros. movie in the future, due to development.
Also, I got to tell you there are rumors that there is going be a FNaF movie in development, and it’s coming soon. I decided to put this in the following:
1. FNaF movie
2. Sonic 3
3. Second sequel for the New Super Mario Bros.
Oh I have no doubts we’re getting not only sequels but movies for nintendo’s other movies.
@@pabloruiz6224yeah the fnaf movie has been conceptualised for a while now. They did finally release a teaser tho

Glad you guys got the video unblocked, you managed to wait until this came out on streaming for more over a month and Universal won't stop people from getting your reaction!!!😅
The internet collectively owes Chris Pratt an apology
This movie I love a whole lot seen it twice since it drop Monday night lol
I honestly love this film. When you realize that story telling has never been the Mario Franchises strong suit, the movie does a great job sticking to its source material. With that the world building, humor, animation, voice acting, Easter eggs, and overall sense of Nostalgia, The movie succeeds in being like the Mario Brothers themselves, Super. 10/10
I mean no one goes to Mario for complex storytelling.
Occasionally yes we get it like the Paper Mario series, but overall, it’s definitely not what we go for.
Fun Fact: The reason they used A-Ha's Take on Me in that montage when they got to the Kong area was because that was the number 1 song in the US when the NES launched in 1985.
I really enjoyed this movie especially the music and animation, plus the VAs really did great, glad you guys enjoyed it too!
This Super Mario Bros. movie was just AWESOME!!!😁
What Nintendo and Illumination needs to do is either STAR FOX🦊 or THE LEGEND OF ZELDA 🗡️ for the next movie!😉😂
Imagine this. A zelda movie in the Puss in boots style of animation
@@JayPlusForerunner That'd be cool to see😏
No we need a sequel with wario and waluigi. We need a Luigi mansion spinoff and donkey Kong country spinoff.
@@shovelknight14 Id like that too but I really still would like to see a Star Fox movie.
They're saying they're interested in a Zelda movie now, so I'd say we're probably gonna get one.
This movie didn’t need to be deep like Toy Story or Puss in Boots 2 or any other animated film, it just needed to be a FUN Mario movie for the fans.
They weren’t really asking for it to be deep all that much, they just said that it could’ve benefited from that aspect. But what they were really asking for was substance, was a more grander story instead of it being so straightforward since the beginning of the film resulting in the film being predictable the whole way through

Universal really should have made this 2 hours long. People had problems when they announced this would be an hour and a half.
One of the little references i enjoyed was the yoshi's story reference. In the scene with the herd of yoshis running, mario is eating an apple and a pink yoshi stops and licks it's lips. In yoshi's story, the apple was the pink yoshi's favorite fruit. I caught that one right away and loved it.
I've been waiting for this one! Saw this in theaters and absolutely loved it!
I know it’s probably not intentional but little mac having a restaurant reminds me of how Rocky retired and opened his own restaurant.
I honestly think this movie deserves an Oscar for “Best OST”
The music is…gold. I might be a little biased, because I love the music of the games, but it is GOOD.
As a Sonic fan, seeing Mario's success makes me wish they made the Sonic movie fully animated like this one.
I feel like it would have been 10 times better than it already was if it was fully animated and they could go all out with the powers and action.
We need a sequel
So glad you guys waited to react to this !! Loved this movie
While I'm extremely critical about both Illumination as a animation studio and it's lack of respect to not do needle drops every 5 minutes (thanks Shrek) I really felt the first half of the movie was okay but the latter half did a much better job at being a movie.
The Bowser piano scene looks a lot like the zone from Pixar's Soul. Coincidence?
probably
After having seen the new Super Mario movie, an actual masterpiece-like movie - Despite the Mario-accent isn't there 100% of the movie - , i'm hit with a few questions and perspectives, about possible references and character personality viewings, like:
Personality) Mario shrinks down his size while fighting Donkey Kong, indicating his lack of fighting skill, fear of this new world and its stuff, and fear of what he's up against: The same guy he struggled with in Brooklyn.
That same fight he turned into a cat, where he managed to show his speed and skill to adapt to new things, because he had to to save his brother.
Ref) When Bowzer finally arrives to attack the Kingdom, the whole civilization were running around in fear: Possibly a nod to Super Mario Galaxy, where in the intro that exact thing happened.
Ref) Last scene plays a song very familiar to GOTG fans, as it referanses to Chris Pratt, who voiced the Main character - who both got transported to a new world - where he had to learn to adapt to new things, alongside: a very strong/angry man, a inhuman companion, a badass woman.
Ref) Donkey Kong Smash Bros launching-punch and sound effect were close, if not identical, to the game.
Ref) Luigi - the Green-clothed brother, was carrying a shield at one point, refering to Zelda?
Ref) Mario drives off the Rainbow bridge to a lower part of the same bridge, which could be a nod to all the cheaters and speedrunners doing that same thing to win.
Ref) When Mario starts loosing hope while fearing for his life, the TV starts playing their commercial in a pretty nice *"Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope!"* way, where he got strength to continue his battle.
Question) Where DOES Peach really come from?
Question) The Rainbow bridge were glowing the same way as the Magikoopas's wand, so could there be a secret Nice Magikoopa in the Jungle?
Question) Did the city know about the warping pipe? If so, could they have tried to cover over the truth that someone - Peach most likely, or maybe Rosalin? - went though it?
What did You think of the movie, and during it? And what do you think, if there'll be a 2th movie, will be in it?
I really went with my lil sis and took my mom to see it as well…
And there I was, nerding out pointing out to them both, literally about every reference and which game it was from💪🏾😂
Wow. I think you're the first reactors I've seen that noticed the End scene with Yoshi was a reference to the Godzilla[1998] movie.
I would have cast Larry David as Kranky Kong and you can’t change my mind
I like your casting choice
5:01- this is the same song I heard in theatre in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It make sense now that Chris Pratt Star in both of the movies of The super Mario bros & Guardians 3. He very love that song so much. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It's BACK! YAY!
I watched this in the theater in 3D Max 4D and had a great fun experience! The seats would move, some tiny water and air would shoot at us and lights would flash! Thanks for reacting to this film! 👍👍👍👍👍
I had no idea you were waiting to react to the movie. There was a few odd choices, and definitely some pacing issues. They could have done with adding 10 or 15 minutes to the middle of the movie. But overall, it's still amazing. I love the original soundtrack (and wish they used more of it instead of adding in real pop songs). The amount of easter eggs and references, even in small background details that get no actual focus, shows that they really did put time and effort into this.
It’s the best movie of 2023. The Nintendo Cinematic Universe is born!!🎉🎉
Fnaf: Nintendo I give you the change today....
I think the Blue shell targets the most important target, since this was no race there was no 1st place and mario was the most important target for the blue koopa

I'm always amazed at home many movies they talk about then they dont see it when they first come out.
22:33 Who else immediately knew that was a DKC:R reference?
This movie was so good. I didn't find any flaws when it came to the gameplay sequences because it matched to the game perfectly from the Mario Cart on the Rainbow bridge to the obstacle course with Donkey Kong as they acquire the different power-ups. Also they do an amazing Italian accent with their Plumbing service promotion for like 15 minutes.
I find it so funny how some people, including my mom, had no idea that Bowser's goal has always been to marry Princess Peach. XD
Also, the newscaster from the beginning was Pauline! Super cool. :03
Um, Pauline is the Mayor not a Newscaster. That was the Mayor addressing the city.

@Papa Hamdrew understandable your guess was right though
Chris Pratt's Mario's voice was a reference to Mario's Brooklyn accent that he had before the modern squeaky voice we all know today, and the fast pacing of the movie was necessary for this first of a series, if they're planning sequels why would they put everything in the first movie? They have to play it safe, this movie was good for what it was, the pacing and all, like a tease of what is to come, a good introduction for Mario in the big screen

There IS a defense against the blue shell, at least in the most recent game(s). One of the items you can get in 1st place's item pool is a sonic defense thingey. It's a red box with a yellow horn coming out of it. Activating it creates a very brief sonic disruption AOE effect. If a shell strikes you while it is active, it will be destroyed. Any shell. Including blue shells. It happened once by accident and I subsequently verified it a few more times. This might be old news but it took me completely by surprise, because I've been playing these games for decades and it was accepted wisdom that there was NO defense against a blue shell. Something that can come in handy if you're trying to 3 star 150cc and up.
I know, right? So many people don't know about that. I stumbled on it completely by accident.
i guess i thought this was old news but maybe not everyone knows this
2 ways to escape. That horn thing yes and a mushroom turbo just before the blue shell hit you
The musical score was one of my favorite parts of the movie. Brian Tyler, who composed the music was a fan of the games and he did such a wonderful job with it.
I had such a blast listening to it from beginning to end. In fact, the whole soundtrack was an easter egg in of itself if you think about it but not everyone will catch it right away.
What kind of shocked me was when hearing one of Bowser's themes, there was a bit of a heavy metal/hard rock moment. Was actually headbanging to it and wanted to start a mosh pit lol.
If they do a sequel. they need to bring Tyler back for it!
Haha i freaking loved Bowsers love song. Totally improved lol
Trying to marry Peach has been Bowsers motive in most of the games lol.
Im glad you guys finally got to watch it!
The dog at the beginning was so random. Since Mario becomes Cat Mario in his fight against Donkey Kong later, I think they should have had an angry cat instead of a dog at the beginning of the movie. Then, when Mario gets the power-up, he remembers what the cat did to him and Luigi, and uses those same moves to win the fight. This way, that scene wouldn't have been for nothing, it would have been foreshadowing and setup.
Yeah this movie didn't really do much in terms of set ups and payoffs. Like the whole Mario disliking mushrooms, thing. What the hell was that all about? It served no purpose other than I guess the writers just thought it would be funny maybe? I have no idea
Love the Rider Kick nod at the end of the fight
18:29 that is the most emphatic reaction that every mustache man can ever feel😂😂
I had a blast lot of fun watching our childhood gamers come to alive
After watching this film, I’m very excited to see where the Super Mario Cinematic Universe will take us, and speaking of it, I heard their making a Solo DK Movie and Charlie Day said he also would love to do a Luigi’s Mansion solo film. That I cannot wait!
And I Love this film so much that I don’t see it as a movie but as a celebration of everything Mario related.
They should do a link movie. Alot of people have a huge desire for it. I like donkey but I really don't care for sith Rogan as donkey. A Luigi mansion would be dope
@@cngotham4111 I think other Nintendo ips aren't off the table, they did talk about other planets or galaxies or universes or whatever in this movie so I feel like it's a bit of a set up
@@cngotham4111 I want other properties like Zelda or Metroid to be made by other animation companies like say Laika or Dreamworks
@@mmrproductions3176 why would Nintendo get different companies obviously they are gonna want a crossover.
@@cngotham4111 Because I don’t think Illumination would be a good choice for either of those properties considering the stuff they put out
The call backs to all the games are so dope
dude has an amazing Yoshi impression
Goated film as a long time mario fan i loved it!🎉❤
16:57 Kamek's voice is extremely familiar, and I don't know why. And I don't just mean the voice actor, I mesn the exact way that he speaks. I know that's a voice I've heard somewhere before...
I feel the same about Cranky Kong's voice. It doesn't fit the character, so it's a bit jarring, but I also feel like I've heard someone talk exactly like that before.
