- This is the brand new RED BULL RB17! Join me at Red Bull HQ in Milton Keynes for a first look at Adrian Newey's new creation, the £5.75M ultimate track hypercar. Limited to 50 cars, featuring an NA V10, and the most incredible aerodynamics, we're taking a full tour in detail. Let's check it out!
Having been involved in the AM-RB 001 project that became the Aston Martin Valkyrie, this time around Adrian Newey has been working on creating a new hypercar under the Red Bull name. Adrian's work goes without introduction as one of the most successful engineers of the Formula 1 world, notably in the recent years with Max Verstappen. However, this time around, it's a road car coming from Red Bull Advanced Technologies.
In 2021, the F1 regulations were on hold, so the RB17 never 'existed', a jump from the RB16 and RB16B to RB18. The space is now filled by a new track hypercar, limited to 50 units, powered by a 4.5l NA V10 that revs to 15,000rpm, in a vehicle that weights sub-900kg and boasts downforce figures almost 2x its weight. We're exploring the new car in detail with Rob Gray, Technical Direction behind the project to understand more of what it's all about and the plans ahead.
It has been an honour to visit Red Bull and explore the new RB17 ahead of the global debut, and to preview it with Rob to share with you.

I have a doubt, Why they haven't asked Pirelli to make a specific tire set akin to the tires of nowadays F1 cars? I think there's a high chances that if Pirelli made tires for RB 17, it would withstand even more downforce than Michelins.

It’s more of an LMh car unrestricted. The car is extremely similar to Valkyrie, which the two were developed by both Red Bull and Aston, this is just red bull’s own focused iteration

1700KG OF DOWNFORCE AT 100MPH IN A CAR THAT WEIGHS LESS THAN 900KG!!!!!!!! You actually need an F1 drivers neck to get anywhere close to its performance without snapping your own neck.
what the difference between downforce and g-force? too many forces 😆😆 use the force, luke, snap darth vader's neck! lol
@@malter87 Downforce is the weight, so 1700KG of downforce would be like putting a 1700KG weight on top of the car. G-force is acceleration, 1G is 9.8 m/s. With more downforce, the car sticks to the ground more, therefore you can take corners faster. Faster corners means your acceleration changes left or right faster, remember that because of inertia when the car turns your body will not, so the faster that acceleration changes the more you have to fight that acceleration with your body.
It's nuts haha! in contrast, the GMA T.50s Niki Lauda produces a little over 700kg of downforce at 150mph. With the high downforce kit (for a total of 1500kg of downforce), that's a little over 1000kg of downforce at 150mph. The Red Bull RB17 produces 1700kg of downforce not even at top speed! it produces that much at just 150mph. The car might even be more overwhelming than the "it's so fast it's painful" Valkyrie AMR Pro.

@@malter87 g-force is the force of gravity, so for example, if someone is experiencing 4G forces, their body will feel 4x as heavy as normal when going against that gravitational force

God Bless Adrian. He’s given us an F1 car without stupid FIA rules. V10, 15K RPM. I hope this smacks current F1 cars on the lips for lap times and I hope one day some rich billionaire comes along and makes a new series called Formula X. Aerodynamics works the same for everyone. If you want an ultimate aerodynamics your car will always look like that. This is a sort of F1 monocoque with a skin on top after all.

i heard it being a roadcar and now they say its track only, so to me this means the project is not as exciting anymore as it doesnt really mean the V10 got a revival.

Aston ran out of money during the Valkyrie's development, so it was released almost unfinished. Red Bull doesn't have this problem. 😂

We know Max is very familiar with the track through sim racing and also we don't expect this car to beat the 919, but I believe this can easy pip the AMG One.
This ain't a road car
If the car is as fast as a current F1 car then it would easily smash the 919 Evo lap record, it‘s as simple as that.
it had more power than 919 EVO,, and (*less than 900kg) maybe simillar weight also,, a lot of downforce and running on slick tires,,
it could be chasing for new record beating 919 EVO,,

@@rianrahmanto8069 probably not possible. Timo said the car could've gone quicker but he was already on the human limit. Besides, the 919 had more power and less weight compared to the RB17. And my guess would be that the RB17 is also not as quickly accelerating as the Porsche.

He did design the Aston Martin Valkyrie so naturally you will see design cues because it's most likely the most affect design style required to achieve x objective...just inflated for even better performance
