Sorry I have been so aloof and not strongly behind supporting you and your marvelous finds. Yesterday May 23rd was the 2nd "FOREVER 26" of my son Talbert. It has been a struggle to stay away from the dark side. My emotions bounce around so much I have been staying clear of getting involved or spending time letting people know how much I appreciate all the hard work they have done putting out videos. You especially always make my heart soar. I utter love your Belter Jig! You excitement always put a smile on my face and a joy in my heart! Another CZcamsr from a different Genre who is young like you has been calling me and letting me talk of my son and helps me get through the bad times. CZcamsrs like you young men are utter joys!
Your passion can not be compared except by the young lad Adam Gates, the pure honest joy of finds always puts a big smile on my face. Thank God for Adam and other young people like him because they re keeping history alive. We live in a time that is rather sad, people want a quick short condensed answer to every thing, they are lazy and want instant gratification but yall give me hope that all is not lost and yall will be keeping history finds and sharing the thrill with us. I had always hoped my son would have found him a helpmeet like you have in Sarah and I would have had the joy of grandchildren, I never imagined the end of an era losing my son would have created.
I have gotten a box of some glorious pieces of history from a box the WestCountry Mudlarks have sent me, I have so much thrill just holding a small Daddies bottle that got broken in the journey from the UK to here in Middle Missouri. NO ONE can understand the utter joy of holding a green gin bottle from 100 years ago or a bubbly wee bottle or an amazing beautiful ink bottle. Sitting here holding a pork pie ink was an utter joy because you gave me a great admiration of stoneware. I was utterly in shock and elated holding a pipe for the first time. The intricate detail, the amazing color after seeing it come from the black shores and the stark whiteness it becomes is so amazing. I had no idea its actual size and weight. I am saving now for another box of history joy. I have investigated each piece I have gotten to know all I can about its history. I never appreciated a Vulcanite stopper but now I have 3 and the history has started making me appreciate them.
We CZcamsrs are learning to love the adventure of a bottle dump and the great thrill of discovering something new or something that was desired from the bucket list. We CZcamsrs are learning so much history and I pray the future generations learn the deep history because sadly our generations will not be leaving such intricate treasures because of our disposal society
LOL Since I have discovered the thrill of the hunt you ammeter Archeologist are such a thrill to have around. Keep discovering and sharing. I plan to sit around here in my old age and appreciate greatly all that you discover and the history you unfold. Thank you so much for putting up with my babbling.
    Love you

I don’t know how collectors feel about this, but it could be cool to find images of the old labels for your plain bottles like the Perrier and print it off and glue it to the bottle. So you could take some of the the so so plain ones and “restore” the label? Could be fun!

Just a suggestion on your repair at the end. Before you paint over the Milliput, put a light coat or two of white Gesso as a primer. It will cover the color of the putty and also give it "tooth" so the paint will stick. Don't want it to flake off in he future. Water the Gesso down so that it isn't thick. Do light coats. Avoid paint brush marks. I think you did really well. White and shades of it are one of the hardest colors to match. I do ceramics restoration in my hobby. Love your videos. Hi Anne,
Fresh ash is where the finds are made. In the old times, they threw away their household waste with the fire ash - so when I'm talking about fresh ash, I mean that it hasn't been already dug by another bottle digger - fresh ground. I hope that helps. Willie :)

Ok, so the ash is from household fireplaces or stoves - I was wondering where it came from. So, is that why some glass bottles are melted when mudlarkers find them? Or were bottle dumps set on fire periodically? I am not familiar with all of this - I just love treasure hunting! I went mudlarking on the Thames on a trip to London and I have been fascinated ever since! Thank you for your response!

Sometimes you’ll see trash cans/bins referred to as ash cans in old novels.

Met you at b. O. Earn. Can we see your pit check. Finds. Eddy Berry and Nick Clegg from the out side stall.

      Hi Eddy,
Good to hear from you again.
I only have the one pit check that’s actually a pit check… it turns out the others are all theatre tokens. I thought they were pit checks because they say ‘Pit’ on them. But it refers to the pit area of the Prince Of Wales theatre, not a coal mine.
If I find any more I’ll let you know. I’ve got both your cards to get in touch. Fingers crossed I find some more.
      Willie 😊

Yup… I try not to talk about blue poisons too much. I’m hoping more than she is that she finds one soon! 😊
