😂😂😂
Absolute TUNE! 🎸
4:22 “oh you’re a real tough cookie with a long history”
exactly what i thought haha
It does sound like it
Great band The Cars, RIP Rick Ocasek
And what a great solo 😱
Don't forget Ben Orr.
3:59 A true masterpiece if I say so myself
I believe the singer on this was the bassist, Benjamin Orr
My Goodness, I have coincidentally been listening to this song so more frequently now! Definitely my favorite Cars song!
Thank you Marty! And rip Ric Ocasek!
I.m.o...The Cars! No one ever covers thier music because it was and is so unique, the vocals, the keyboards, guitar effects , etc. Tough to do and sound as good as they do. I grew up listening to the Cars loved them in 1979, and still do. The passing of Ric has made for a sad past few days, but hearing his music being played all day long brings back great memories, like in 79 when The Cars came to Vancouver bc, and my 7 friends and i wernt to go see them. The funny thing was my best friend was now with my ex. When the Cars played my best friends girl, my buddy frank sitting next to me, said you gonna go hit him. I said no he can have her. I just sat back and enjoyed the concert. They never lasted.
Weezer covered you might think.
Awesome Marty.
You're another guy I've followed for years and years without subscribing.
(you always pop up if you Google how to play anything)
So thankyou brother from me everyone else and the Universe for all you do and of course...
blessed be.
Any time I have a problem figuring out a song... I come to your site Marty. I've checked out others however, I appreciate how you take the time and I'm able to pause your video's while I practice what I've just learned. I'm not a beginner, I've been playing for 55 years however, plateaus that I've hit over the years would curb my enthusiasm and I've actually gone years with only picking up my guitars about once every 6 months. Thanks to your page, I've found renewed interest, play daily and am surprised how quickly I am now picking up songs that I loved in the 70's and 80's but never attempted to play. I do get stumped occasionally on a chord however, a few minutes here and I'm off and running. I've even learned some songs from you that I really enjoyed but never attempted, such as Zeppelins "Rain Song!" Thanks again Marty and never stop... you are my Go to guy when I need help with a song! Good on you Bro!
Elliot Easton was amazing with his riffs...
Left handed thumbnail.
I see what ya did there Marty. 😁
This is the best lesson I’ve found on CZcams for this song. Thanks bud
Telepathy does work. After hearing sad news about Rick O. I thought Marty needs to give us a Cars song. Thx Marty!
Thank you for this. Ric is jamming again with Benjamin Orr. Sweet sounds on the night shift. RIP Ric. A lot of your stuff is on the soundtrack of my youth.
you rock marty
Thank you for the lesson, Marty, I guess you’re just what I needed.
Love your channel Marty. This is one of my all time favorite tunes and (even though I regularly played ‘my version’ of it at gigs) it really took me a few years to pin this solo down. I think you nailed it note wise, “but”, from any of the cars live performances I have seen, the solo is played down around the 5th fret, ie starting on the B string. Thats the version I play and I find the fingering much easier than starting off up at the 10th fret.
Thanks for the tutorial Marty . . . all the best & stay well !!!
Great tribute, legends live on through their music.
Love the Cars thanks Marty. MTV memories. You have awesome teaching skills.
Love this song Marty thank you so much
You've taught me so many songs........ can't thank you enough
Rip another legend. The Cars will always be on of my all time favorite bands! I will definitely learn this one for sure!
Working up .38 Special “caught up in you” & knew this was the tune I was actually looking for. Thanks. Both tunes are great!
Great song! I love the Cars. And man I like that guitar you are teaching it on.
Thanks Marty
Really good one. Great instruction, thx.
Yeah Marty. Classic Rock and Jamband. You rock.
I love the solo in this song!
New sub. I found your channel soon after Ocasek passed away because I saw an article calling The Cars, "new wave." They may have started out that way, but they quickly became one of the top innovators (creators?) in what people now refer to as "Pop/Punk." I always knew the basics to this one, but that solo is a beast. The entire tutorial is paced perfectly, and I would definitely recommend the solo portion to anyone who wanted to learn how to effectively bend a half or whole step on the guitar. Placement and hand to hand coordination are only half the battle. The chords are relatively simple, but that solo requires finesse. I think the band would be proud. Anyway that's enough of my sentimental ranting for one evening. Going to check out some more of your vids before I have to hit the hay. Thanks, Marty! 🔥🔥🔥
Great lesson as always, thanks Marty!!!
That guitar's top finish is sick man. It's goddamn perfect.
I love the cars, but I highly recommend giving the ink spots a try, I'm trying to learn "Maybe" and my hands are so cramped. I'd love to see you do it.
Thanks, Marty! Had fun dialing in the sound.
Reminds me of my dad. Great song. Love the hat!
Awesome lesson thanks Marty

Thanks Marty for another great lesson. I’ve learned so much songs from you. FYI for all you millennials. This classic Cars song, Just What I Needed, was sang and written by Ben Orr, the bass player for the Cars. RIP to both Ric Ocasek and Ben Orr.
Written by Ric, sung by Ben.
Good lookin' out for Ric!! Cars are one of the all time classic rock bands!!
Hey Marty Bravo! I'm a BIG Cars fan. R.I.P. Ric Ocasek. Thank you for posting this!! See you at the Iridium soon.

Could you break down Talking in your sleep by The Romantics? All the songs I’ve been wanting to learn you have literally had them all! Thank you so much 🙏🏽
Love this - love all your stuff. I see you play a divided by 13 - what effects do you use to get the cars sound on this?
Never heard this before. Cool song. Cool solo too. :)
Like your videos, like your style, like your lessons, and like the beard!
R.I.P
Rick ocasek
Loved the cars when I was a kid
Some advanced lessons would be really cool, thanks ( like fade to black outro, juste an exemple)
Thanks Marty as always !
That guitar is sweet.
Ric Ocasek was rock royalty and very underappreciated by most.
It is crazy hiw most of us , myself included, have to really pay attention to the chords and the changing of the chirds, our finger placement, etc,,,, and Rick plays this stuff like he can do it in his sleep.,,, lol,,,,but yet he is not recognized as a great guitarist per say stats,,,,but in my HUMBLE Opinion,,,, He should be recognized as one of the greats. ! 😎✌✝💕💕💕
Wow Marty, other videos use a different position. This one is easier and better, THANKS!
Amazing how close this sounds like Journey - Don't stop believing.
Man your job is amazing. Please teach soul sacrifice from Santana. ♥♥♥♥♥♥
Hella groovy yo!
Awesome tribute, probably going to take the next few hours to learn how to play it.
3:57 I’m dying 😂
Have you heard mark Hoppus’ version? It’s so cool. I did yesterday and thought “I wonder if Marty heard so I can learn the original “ and here you are a day later. Thanks!
Can you do a lesson on Story Of My Life by Social Distortion? Thanks Marty for this lesson of this classic tune!
MARTY! If you could do a tutorial for Shape of my heart by Sting that would be awesome! The other tutorials arent in the Marty Music style... WHICH IS THE BEST STYLE
I just now realized how similar this chorus riff is, to Pat Benatar's (Geraldo's) main riff to Hit Me With Your Best Shot.
I love you broooo
This was the very first song I ever learned on guitar! Cool to see it come back around after all these years.
hes actually playing the solo starting on the b string 5th fret and plays in that position . there's a video of Eliot showing how its done
