  • A button/key was stuck on the accordion.
    - the cover was removed (held by 2 screws);
    - the shaft was pulled to the right to release the first button;
    - the first button was taken out;
    - the spring holder shaft was removed;
    - the broken spring was replaced with a safety pin;
    - the spring holder shaft was re-inserted;
    - cleaning
    - the button was reintroduced;
    - the button holder shaft was pushed to the left (check shaft/hole alignment!)
    - all keys were verified (adjustments if needed)
    - the cover was mounted back;

    Just a warning- you should not vacuum out through the air holes covered by the pallet from the key, some vacuums produce much more pressure than the reeds & valves (on the other side of the holes) are designed to take in use, which can lead to bending or cracking of either and a reed or valve is much harder to fix or replace than a key.

      You should (one should) also not lay an Accordeon on its keys like that. 😬

    Very nice video - use of a safety pin as a 'spring' is very nice idea. However I have used a a small paper pin inserted in the space in the treble wooden board , twisted it downward at about 5 o'clock position and put in a very small rubber band between the treble shaft and the pin - and it worked fine. Give as many twists to the rubber band as it becomes almost similar to the 'bounce' of the original spring. Have tried it a lot successfully on my 12 bass Pietro piano accordion( way back in 1950s- as a teenager accordion player) when the springs cracked and spindle could not be taken out. Caution , the rubber bands tend to break after some time, you may keep replacing when required. However replacing with metal spring or a safety pin is a better option as explained in the video . Warm Regards.

    if you push the axle by 1cm by pushing it with another axle and remove it with a screwdriver, it would be much easier and would not bend the axle.

    Very good but remember to number the keys so you know the order they are put back in , and be careful when you pull the rod out as the keys are often Spring loaded and will pop out.

      yeah a customer once made that
      with the mechanic (left hand side)

      over few billion possible combinations
      nothing to worry about really :|

    • @edwardc7462

      MartinDxt Had a e soprani a few years ago that developed sticky notes on the bass side, The accordion repairer used a lubricant spray in the mechanism and pressed the buttons until the buttons were free and able to move without sticking, Had no trouble with it after that

    • @MartinDxt
      @MartinDxt Před 7 lety +1

      Edward c LOL
      that's not how you should do that but if it works ok fine
      lubricant spray may still do harm to some other stuff in the mechanism
      if it was done purely out of metal
      sure why not but there is felt, wax, 2-3 glues, rubber, wood, letter, celluloid, plastic, and at least 2-3 different metals
      and every manufacturer has slightly different materials
      but if it worked good for you i hope he's been careful in his lubricant choice

      @@furulevi thank you very kindly for writing. I’m looking at buying an old Yamaha model that’s similar to yours. The metal grate as a cloth liner on the inside and it’s starting to become detached from the metal. Perhaps the cloth superfluous.

    It Is a mistake to bend the key arm. Bending can cause air leaks. The problem is the tension spring, not the key arm.The safety pin can do the job, but the head has to be cut too. Then it can be adjusted applying more o less pressure.
