  • I had the leaking bellows on my 15 year-old German accordion repaired. The technician stated that new Rubin model accordions are still made with the same gusset material that failed on my instrument.

    Need some assistance in finding out who manufactured a 4-row Tirolander Button Box / Accordion I inherited . It was reportedly purchased in Europe in the 1960's.

    i am so disappointed with my Perle 60 bass Weltmeister too. Bought in 1999. Same thing happened to my bellows.May I ask what approx cost to repair? I will have to get this done too. I have retaped bellows on my other older ones, but hesitate to do this operation myself. My Hohner from 1935 still going strong, no leaking bellows on it!

      If I remember correctly, it was about $350 to repair. They could also install a new set of bellows - but, Weltmeister is still using the cloth, so you would have the same problem in 10 years. Better to have them rebuilt with leather.

    Just asking about that bellows gusset repairs again. What material was used to patch? Was it leather or...? Were you satisfied with this repair? Did it add more thickness to bellows so the bellow straps had to be adjusted? Reason i am asking, most say to totally replace these bellows with italian made ones (custom so double the cost!) also, who did your repairs?

    I have a question. I have an accordion with a sixteenth note in the channel. The voices are clean, without corrosion, while the 16th note in the channel has corrosion. Is it possible to clean them and how could they be cleaned?

      Please refer your question to someone who works at an acoustic accordion shop, or an accordion tech who has an on line site.

    I have the same situation with the gusset with same exact accordeon. I live in New Jersey is there a way I could get the address of the shop that did this awesome job?

      The Button Box shop will work on Weltmeister because they are a dealer for the product, but they are not interested in working on other brands.

    When I was looking to upgrade from a chinese made accordion, I was interested in a Weltmeister - because they are "German" made. Until.... an elderly accordion maestro in formed me that the "German" name was from the old communist east germany area. He suggested that the company has never upgraded their quality regime, and that I would always have a 2nd grade instrument. Fortunately I bought a Scandalli and haven't regretted it - at all.

    • @dalematthies
      @dalematthies  Před 3 lety +1

      The Weltmeister instruments are not "bad" instruments, and as far as I know, they are still built in Germany, in a town near the Czech boarder. Yes, there are better instruments available. The benefits of the brand is that they have a pleasant sound, they are available in colorful cases, they are lower price than many other brands. They are definitely a leap above most of the Chinese accordions.

      @@dalematthies Does that include the Hohners? Around 95% of all Hohners are now made in china.
