I love this! This feel like the most pure essence of what this channel is all about! Fantastic work, I love seeing ultra-cheap decks like this once in a while. Not every deck tech needs to be this cheap of course, but it's really nice to have these ultra-budget decks once in a while to help fill out my collection of commander decks I can lend to a friend, or just want to play something different.
This is great. I really like this type of video. I have 95 of these cards already just sitting around so I can build this deck easily and give it as a Xmas gift to get a friend into commander/MTG.
...What about the new Island land for "reasonable upgrade"...you know...the one that lets you put an Instant or Sorcery from your Graveyard on top of your Library.
I mean without a doubt add it if you already have it. Going through this deck tech I have like 75% of the cards already, which makes it even more affordable.
One great thing a about this channel is that you can use the money you save on decks to purchase great commander's quarter merch.

lands to consider for any mono color deck:
Throne of the High City (being the monarch is criminally underrated in commander, at worst another player steals it from you and becomes the main target of the table, but with all your Drakes you should be able to keep it and steal it back easy when you lose it)
Arch of Orazca (with a deck like this, getting the city's blessing is super easy, barely an inconvenience, so that's another optional source of draw for when you don't have anything else to spend mana on or just need to dig)
Reliquary Tower (so you don't have to discard to hand size, really useful in a high draw deck like this)
Fetches (Wilds, Expanse, and/or the Panoramas to help pull out your Islands so you're more likely to draw gas)
A $10 edh deck? Mitch, I know you don’t wear capes, but you might want to consider it, hero.
Loved it. Run most of these cards in my Niv-Mizzet spellslinger deck, might just pick up the missing pieces. Nothing more satisfying than beating people with cheap, well constructed decks.
This channel helps me A LOT, prices here in Brazil isn't that cheap and watching these deck techs is very helpful.
I build my Lazav, the Multifarous commander watching this channel and i improve later, now it's one of the strongest decks among my friends and the store i play some tournaments. Keep the good job, budget decks can be really strong and you guide us to building correctly.

But Mitch, there's one thing this episode is missing. A small little minor detail. I know you were trying to be professional and what have you but I so desperately wanted you to finish the deck tech with "Take that Maximillion! Eat your Force of Mana Expropriate heart out! We have no upgrades because this deck is just fine as it is!"

Man I really love the super budget things you do. Also I like that you have been thinking alot more outside the box than usual. This and the pirate ship have really made me reconsider what is possible when brewing EDH decks
Abjure is one is my favorite cards for counterspells for Talrand. It costs a single blue mana and has sacrifice a blue permanent: Counter target spell. It costs you a drake but Talrand immediately replaces it. And It only costs 28 cents.
Talrand is in one of my decks, but after watching this I am EXTREMELY tempted to take him out and build this deck with him as the commander

Impressive. Never would’ve thought a deck can be built jus under $10. And it’s honestly easy to pilot for a beginner. Your channel jus keeps getting better and better !
I really like the idea of this. I would probably throw in a Helm of the Host, because the idea of casting a cantrip and dropping several 2/2 fliers for U tickles me something fierce.
Best part is most of that stuff is going to be at instant speed, so you don't really need to worry about haste. You can just unload on your opponent's turn.
I'd say that Crashing Drawbridge would be a great addition to this deck so that we can always swing with our Drake army and he's only a nickel!

I’m totally on board with this deck, it’s similar to my version of Talrand.
A good upgrade has to be Spark Double and Abjure. One gives you a copy of your commander and the other is a 1 mana counter spell.
This deck is better than most pre cons at $10 😩
Watched for ideas for my token Kykar build. Had never seen Rise from the Tides! Great tech per usual.
Talrand was the first legendary creature I ever got right after I started playing, super excited to build this deck
I was tinkering around with building this deck the other day.
I think I'll have to build it for my mono blue commander.
One alteration though... No creatures. Just T dog and a Proteus staff. This means when I activate the staff I can stack my deck huhhuhuhuh.
And what to draw after that, well... Goblin Char BELCHER!

i play EDH exclusively. my 6 year old has been showing interest and ive been struggling on how to get something together for him that wouldnt cost me a whole lot of money AND wouldnt be too complicated.
youve just given me a possible answer. i hesitate with counterspells, since hes 6 and probably wont really get the hows and whens, but its this or freyalise.

I just drafted a Talrand list that comes in at the $150 range and your fun $9.95 list is likely comparable in terms of the power of exploiting the primary strategy of making Drakes and smashing face. Higher budget options include adding more efficient control spells to play more of a mono U tempo game, better ramp, and infinite combos like Dramatic Rev. and Iso. Scepter and Mass Polymorph into Dead-eye Navigator and Peregrine Drake.
This is a great deck!! Not what I usually would play, but I greatly enjoyed it. I won the game, and it was tense until the last turn. Thank you so much! Looking forward to more hyper budget decklists. :)

One thing I used to do in Talrand edh was cheap flicker spells (essence flux/siren's ruse) and recursion creatures (mnemonic wall/archaeomancer). Highly recommend!
I was looking into building a spellslinger deck and talrand is definitely one of the top contenders. Might have to try this build out, especially since it wouldn't even set me back much! Great deck tech

Sounds like it needs ways to protect the Commander. Some budget options include Mystic Veil, Diplomatic Immunity, Robe of Mirrors, Curator's Ward, and Neurok Stealthsuit.
Gravitational Shift also sounds powerful in this build. What an anthem.
