  • The weather was perfect for this sheepshead trip with MJ. Sunny skies, low winds and a slow moving current an hour before and after low tide. We caught a good number of convicts using fiddler crabs rigged on Bottom Sweeper jigs. The bite was pretty much non stop, catching fish ranging in all different shapes and sizes!

    Hey brother nice video, I've been fishing sheepshead since before hurricane Hugo with a handling, just a few tips when they are acting shady, change your set-up from jigs to maybe split shots and circle hooks

    Enjoyed the video" can you suggest a good place to launch a boat in or near Charleston for some inshore sheepshead fishing which has lots or barnacle covered poles without having to make a long boat ride?

      Honestly, anywhere you put in around Charleston should have easy access to docks, which should all be holding sheepshead right now. I see them on floating docks all the time too.

      This day we put in at Remley's Point. It can handle your boat no problem at all.

    are you anchored up? how do u get close without banging the boat on the pilings?

      Yes, we were anchored. It took a few times to get the boat just right. Also, I always anchor on the downside of the current. That way my boat floats away from the pilings instead of toward them.

      Depends on the tide. But I use 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and 1 oz if out by the jetties.

      Yes, this time of year they are everywhere on the banks. Just make sure you know the difference between pluff mud and solid ground so you don't sink in!

      It depends on where you live. Here in Charleston you can catch them year-round. During the colder winter months, the bigger ones move offshore and then come back in when the water warms up to about 60 to 65°.

      @@SCFishTales we are up in PA, we fish Ocean City MD , our inshore sheep season is August and September
      water temp around 70 , when the water get below 70 we still find them in the wrecks 10-20 miles from shore in October
      very few in November , However you can find them in the Chesapeake bay VA till end of November inshore
      we are planning to come your way mid march and give it a try

    Go back VA family dad SC live blue crabs red dram black dram black sea bass oyter muscles clams all the way up to scallop sea scallops all the way up to a barnacles scales and like South Carolina it's pretty cool the best fishery yet is the red drum and the best one of all is number one will be usually catch shark croakers and spots and lots of sheet set I never caught so many sheet set so I went to South Carolina it's a good sheepshead fishery one of the best blue fish and whiting surf fishing is one of the best fisheries it's your surf fishing sure fish buy a fishing license in South Carolina for a 3-day stamp to fish still one of the best fisheries I have ever fished in South Carolina
