Worked with a middle aged woman 20 yrs ago who had a 10 year old daughter. A Mason worked with us. He was lovely on surface. He and his wife used to baby sit this girl from time to time. Saw him some years later and asked about the woman. He said that she'd gone "funny in the head". Clearly he had fallen out with the woman for some reason. Only person I had heard say something negative about. Often wondered if there had been something going on related to the babysitting of her daughter and she had found out and so he smeared her.

Nice one John full respect for trying to do your job honestly, fairly and with respect to inmates, it’s just a sad case that so many work colleagues in the prison service are corrupt and out for themselves whatever way they can.
    Excellent enlightening stories,
I totally commend you for doing 37yrs, not be corrupted around so much dodgy shit going on. Normally I would have said well done doing 37yrs of service, but think I’d better rethink that after you telling the story of the wing governor letting an inmate out of his cell when everyone else was away at lunch and the wing governor would bend over his desk while the inmate would service him! I don’t think I’ll ever use the word servicing again in its correct terminology how it’s intended to be used. It’ll always conjure up these images in my head I don’t want to think of in future.
    Good luck John, thanks

I was an officer in the service from 1970s for 30 years working at strangeways and other jails.I would say the story of the cat a inmate and governor is a fabrication by John. This would not have happened, never.looking at it logically all the staff in the wing ,including the wing SO and PO would have to be in on it, impossible. Wing governors were not liked so any sniff of wrongdoing would have been reported. It didn’t happen.

I find myself constantly researching while watching this, and things check out. Unexpected: John Sutton referring to Eric Allison (around 50:00) as alive, has an obituary on The Guardian dated November 6 of this year. So he passed away right after this interview was published. I was wondering after a while if this guy John Sutton is crazy, but things check out, you can open a tab and research, as he talks, and what got me was that the Guardian hired Eric Allison. They did! Other stuff checks out as well. Fascinating documentary/podcast and full of rabbit holes and coincidences, but when they check out... it feels really freaky. Like, this shit is real. First time watching this channel, and definitely subscribed.

SHED thanks for taking time to research my tales from the jails I am telling the truth, I have no script no notes just my mind. Lots of staff say they did twenty years or so as jailers saw nothing like I did and I get that OK anyone can do that Head down, Eyes wide shit see no evil etc. I was paying attention and taking action. Maybe read my book HMP Manchester Prison Officer on Amazon. Best Wishes JOHN

@@talesfromthejails Indeed, I only researched because I was so fascinated by the whole thing including that The Smiths did "Strangeways Here We Come" and I never knew what Strangeways was. And then I see you have this psychic book, you run the gamut of interesting! (book is on xmas list)

Shaun another great great guest from former prison officer I find the views from them having been keepers fascinating but because of the Masonic slant this guest was brilliant your guests and topics.are up there with the best you are a good man and the lady at your side only further validates that fact your success is down to hard graft and a lot of work must go in trying to secure these very interesting guests and topics and the more relaxed they are and trust and respect they have for you and the lady makes for really good show thanks for getting us all set for great episodes through the long dark winter months.
