About La Bérarde - Hidden Gems of Isère Series
The ride to La Bérarde is a hidden gem. Tucked away on a dead-end road, most riders opt for the famous Alp d'Huez and Galibier. But those that make it to this ride are in for a treat. The ride starts in Le Clapier d'Auris. Here you leave the busy main road and enter the peaceful oasis of the Vénéon Valley. The valley is very popular with climbers and hikers and that is not for no reason, the area is simply stunningly beautiful. There is very little traffic on the small narrow roads and it has some amazing segments of balcony road. The beginning of the ride is easy, but a bit further into the ride you get to some difficult segments with double-digit gradients. Two-thirds into the ride it becomes very easy again, and one can enjoy the stunning scenery without much effort. The ride ends in front of the local café in La Bérarde.

    Just add music:
Most cyclists would agree that the ride to Col du Tourmalet is awesome. But when it comes to music opinions are very mixed. This is why we have not added any music and why we recommend adding your favorite music to the ride. It is quite simple. Mute CZcams and open a browser window. Find a site that offers music (Spotify, CZcams, etc…) and pick the music you like, and enjoy the ride... The original sound of the ride has been left out. This is because the natural sound of the surroundings is drowned by noise from passing cars, vibrations from the road, wind, and the rider's breathing.

It shouldn’t be allowed, such natural beauty crammed into an hour of video! To view this, from my exerciser, at a late stage of life, is just sensational. I have expressed this before, that, as a motorist, these views are just not appreciated because of the concentration on the road ahead. To be able to sit on your rider’s shoulders and enjoy the majestic grandeur is wonderful, just thankful that I am not having to keep away from the edges. Thanks, again, for giving me such pleasure, this is the best, so far.

I love you videos. But sometimes it might be nice to have a soundtrack as well. My favourite music doesn’t have the kind of beats per minute for a good workout. Do you have a suggested playlist? Thanks

Hi Gerrie, Glad to read you love our videos. I would search CZcams for 'workout music'. I'm sure you will find something :-)

Try SmoothJazzFM from Portugal, there is an App, or the website. About 8 channels of uninterrupted smooth music, 24/7. I listen daily, and have been for several years, it’s brilliant, give it a try.

Is that path meant for walking only? I'd feel alot safer biking on that then the side of the road

You could check out our videos from Denmark. Many of them of designated bike lanes....
