    About Col des Tentes via Gavarnie from Gèdre:
    Col des Tentes is hidden gem protected by the world heritage status of Cirque de Gavarnie. Most cyclist en route between Col d’Aubisque and Col du Tourmalet misses this climb. But that is a big mistake. Due to the area's protective status, it has never been possible for the Tour de France to bring its entourage here and thereby bring ‘fame and glory’ to Col des Tentes. But where Col d’Aubisque and Col du Tourmalet wins on cycling history, Col des Tentes wins on remoteness, elevation, and lack of cars. The ride begins in the charming town Gèdre on a sunny day with perfect weather conditions. From here you have the perfect warm-up along the river ‘Gave de Gavarnie’. In front of you is one of the most jaw-dropping natural sites in the Pyrenees, Cirque de Gavarnie. Most cars stop in Gavarnie, so from here you have an almost car-free ride. As you climb the ride becomes more challenging and the scenery becomes more stunning. Sheep and cattle roam around, making this ride a pristine alpine experience and a true gem for those cyclists who prefer to ride with few car and world-class scenery.

    Adding music to the ride:
    Most cyclists would agree that the ride to Col du Tourmalet is awesome. But when it comes to music opinions are very mixed. This is why we do not add music to our rides. We simply do not want to spoil your ride with music you do not like. But it is quite simple to add it yourself. Open an extra browser tab. Find a site that offers music (Spotify, CZcams, etc…) and pick the music you like and enjoy the ride...

    These videos are so wonderful, and this countryside is so beautiful. My only small quibble is that we go up and up and up and when we finally get to the ultimate view, it cuts off before the bike even stops. Let us stop and revel in the scenery for at least a minute!

      Hi Karen, thank you for your feedback. If possible we will let the camera roll for longer at the end of the video in future videos.

      Yes, it is amazing. But few know about it because it does not feature in the Tour de France...

    Is it sad that I sit and watch this to remind myself of (and re-live) the brilliant cycling trip me and my friends had last year (Sep '18)? Brings it all flooding back ... without the burning muscles!! Thanks for the fantastic video.

    • @BiketheWorld
      @BiketheWorld  Před 5 lety +1

      No it is not sad. That is why we make these videos and building an app to support them. So you can ride or see them.... Again and again...

      Thank you for the nice comment. What is the autumn like in Upstate NY? Would it be worth making a cycling video there to capture all the autumn colors?

      Bike the World Color reached its peak where I am in the Adirondacks October 8 this year. My unbiased opinion is if you catch it right, our color is magnificent. Your great panorama views would be harder to find but worth researching. Perhaps the road up Whiteface Mountain or some similar stretch. There is a group called Cycle Adirondacks that might be worth contacting.

      Lisabëth Rosemöon Magical Drawings holy cow.... you really read into my comment. Firstly, it was meant as a joke and secondly it was a compliment to @bike the world for there amazing places they visit and capturing the roads so vividly that it actually feels like your riding on them!!
      If you notice, I watch his videos in the colder season {6 months ago) when you can’t go outside and it makes indoor riding waaaaaay more enjoyable.
      This summer I’ve been riding outside virtually everyday and thanks to @bike the world, I’m looking forward to getting on my spin bike as the weather gets colder.
      You need to develop a sense of humour and not crucify people by judging them on how you interpret something they wrote.

    Is your rider just in much better shape than the riders he passes, or is he on a motorcycle?
