  • The Snæfellness Peninsular is often nicknamed ‘Iceland in Miniature’. This ride around the peninsular gives you much of what Iceland offers in two stages. You will see volcanos, glaciers, lava fields, villages, lakes, waterfalls, beaches, the ocean, cliffs, and mountains. It is a loop with jaw-dropping scenery on a road with very few cars. The ride starts and ends at the iconic ‘Kirkufjell’, probably the most photographed mountain in Iceland. Without long and steep climbs this loop is a relatively easy multi-stage ride. Few rides around the world offer such variety and beauty. We rate this ride as a virtual bucket-list ride, a ride that one should do at least once virtually in one's lifetime.
Stage two starts out with a few hill climbs in an extremely beautiful volcanic area. Along the way, you can enjoy the view of waterfalls, mountains, farms, and the ocean in the distance. After the last descent, you can enjoy an almost flat ride to Hótel Snaefellsnes.
Stage 3 starts with a gentle climb up to an extremely beautiful volcanic area with beautiful lava fields. This beautiful area is followed by a nice ride along the ocean until you get back to the iconic ‘Kirkufjell’ where you finish the loop.
In this ride-along video, you ride at the speed of a very fit cyclist. If you want to ride at your own speed, please look below for how you can make that possible with our indoor cycling app Open Road.

Take your indoor cycling to the next level with our indoor cycling app Open Road:
Dive into an immersive indoor cycling experience with our training app ’Open Road’ for Windows. The app transforms your effort into speed and lets you ride the ride as if it were a real outdoor ride. With the app, you get a better and more realistic indoor cycling experience compared to our ride-along videos on CZcams. The app is compatible with all ANT+ cycling devices, including smart trainers, power meters, and speed sensors. Athletes with spinning and exercise bikes without ANT+ compatibility can control the speed manually and enjoy riding with all the important cycling data such as altitude, distance, speed, heart rate, etc. displayed during the training session.

    Just add music:
Most cyclists would agree that the ride to Col du Tourmalet is outstanding. But with music, opinions are very mixed. So we have added no music. Instead, we recommend adding your favorite music to the ride. It is quite simple. Mute CZcams and open a browser window. Find a site that offers music (Spotify, CZcams, etc.) pick the music you like, and enjoy the ride... We have left the original sound of the ride out. This is because the noise from passing cars, vibrations from the road, wind, and the rider's breathing drowns the natural sound of the surroundings.

This is almost surreal. The landform slowly changing. The promise of more change to come. The joy of seeing the first stunted trees. One of the best. Thanks

These rides are brilliant, thanks for posting them, they make training on my exercise bike much more enjoyable. One request, I find that the sound adds a lot to the realism. But thanks again.
