    Was just doing the one leg drill with my son at the range today! Had him "skip a few stones" down range first and just like you always say - nobody does it wrong! He has been out with me a few times but today was the day I saw the boy produce nice ball flight quite a few times - thanks for yet another proud papa golf moment!

    Hey Shawn, man, your videos are phenomenal. I'm in the Sunshine State where golf is a past time, because we play all year round. However, that still doesn't make some or most of us good golfers. Your analogies are what helped me. Now, I swing a club just like a sling blade. One word, AWESOME! Thank you.

    This will be my regular swing from now on. I see no reason why not to.
    I watch your videos all the time and I love them.
    Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

    Phenomenal stuff Shawn. You’re knowledge has drastically changed my perception and improved my ball striking. Way less taxing on my body with equal or more distance.

    I used to want my swing to look like Ben Hogan; it really has not worked. I never thought I'd say this, but I am now modeling my swing after Mr. Clement and I must I am very happy; I have learned to keep width with my right arm on the bs, and learned that I really don't need to plaster my right arm to my body, but let it separate some. My swing feels more powerful and free.

    Shawn, I discovered your videos a weeks or so back and really find them very useful. I’m in the UK and have been to some of the best coaches including a couple of big names in the US. I find your tips are non technical and sound and they work for me ! Fantastic !
    I tried the one leg swing at the range today and boy oh boy the ball went straighter and longer. I’m not worried about how far the ball goes but a consistently straight ball will make life sweet ! The one leg approach seems to solve the problem I have always had of transferring weight and rotating my lower body on the downswing. My only issue know is how to combine this new drill into a full time on course swing.
    Many Thanks, Tim

    It's March 2021, my golf course is closed for spring aeration but can't wait to get the the practice range tomorrow. Did some practice swings without a club standing in front of my laptop and immediately felt how this drill trains the rotation/rpm. Doing well this spring with your dandelion cutting advice, very high percentage of balls close to the target!

    Wow! Love the effortless driver example! It's almost comical how little you were trying to 'paste it'. I laughed a lot! I have had some huge breakthroughs recently after watching a lot of Snead and listening to his own comments on the swing in order to capture the essence of what he did as supposed to, in my humble opinion, other peoples' overly-detailed analysis which is of less value . After doing this I have been smoking balls with little effort and good accuracy and I feel like your approach really aligns with this. You really transmit a heck of a lot even with very simple information. Thank you so much for your continued effort frae bonnie Scotland.

      Practice throwing the club nicely first; see “head position and lag shawn clement” and then see “throwing the club shawn clement” and the “club speed’ video on our premium channel; then practice throwing without letting go and then throw farther to get more speed; the “swing caddy” training aid I have on the website as well as the superspeed golf system are very good tools to train with.

    Pretty awesome video, Shawn, but it underscores the problem I have with my swing these days. I'm an older guy with advanced arthritis in my LEFT knee and hip, so I have difficulty and discomfort moving my weight to my left side. (It was so bad at one point that I entertained the thought of learning how to swing all over again left-handed.) With the graying of the golf community at large, if you could do a video some time for us left-side-limpers, it would be much appreciated.

      Hi Peter; here is an answer for you and leif: see this video here to blend back into a swing with both feet supporting the COG of the body: czcams.com/video/8mIq15Ra3X0/video.html
      For you, you need to walk gingerly and take whatever time it takes to perform that walking cycle;

  • @Waddymanman
    @Waddymanman Před 6 lety +1

    From watching this I’ve noticed how your trail elbow comes through in the downswing ahead of the hands. The forearm then bends at the elbow allowing the wrists, which are still partially set, to begin to rotate, come level for impact and then release to target. Not sure if I’m barking up the wrong tree or if this is an “ah ha” moment.

    Great drill. But now I'm hitting the ball much better on one leg than with two. Better contact, better trajectory, even a little draw. Would love to see how you take it to your swing. Keep up the videos.

    hey Shawn, just getting into golf (3 months ago), love the videos, definitely see improvements each time I make it out to play or the range.
    Do you have any videos on club head at address? I hear in some of the videos you mention "slightly open" "slighty closed", but I'd like to visually see it. I feel like my club head is opening massively through the ball, so I have to over compensate and close it A L O T at address. Would just like to see how yours looks, if possible. Thanks.

    Hey Shawn, I’m a big fan of the one legged swing and feet together drill. Both have given me great results and I too hit the ball further on with one leg. Where I struggle is transitioning this feeling to feet apart. I’m not able to replicate the feel or distance with a normal stance. To compensate I use a very narrow stance, just within my shoulders. It’s been providing me decent results. Somewhere in between one leg and feet apart. Any thought on staying where I am or tips to move to a wider stance. Might be a good topic for a new video!

  • @Eric-zk2hu
    @Eric-zk2hu Před 6 lety

    I think its executing your task---to hit the ball TOWARDS your target, where similar to throwing a dart towards a target, each throw is slightly different and your brain senses the right ratios of the moving parts to throw the dart at the target with the right trajectory and speed. So on one throw you might use your elbow slightly more and your wrist slightly less and vice versa. So anyway you think of the golf swing like throwing the club or cutting a bamboo shoot or unwinding your body, the object is to make the ball go to the target. So from setup to the finish (even after you hit the ball) your focus should be to hit/make the ball go to the target. That is why pure speed training or just trying to make the club woosh with no thought of hitting towards a target while you are swinging can make your brain "blackout" and mishit the ball way, way, way, offline. So when hitting on one leg your brain senses to use less hip motion or hip bump/slide weight transfer and just swing the club thru to hit the ball towards the target.

    Shawn, I've been a premium subscriber for a while and I love your stuff. I pretty much learned how to play from you exclusively. So, thanks for that.
    I'm curious if you've seen Jim Venetos' instruction? He advocates pivoting into your left and swinging while keeping your body still. I played with it a bit and it produces a nice tight and repeatable draw as you described in this video. The reason I ask is because your one legged drill starts to look similar to the technique that he advocates and I'm curious to know your thoughts on it. I guess I'm wondering if you can get as good or better club head speed and distance, then why not just do it that way all the time?
    Thanks again for all the great info you put out there.

      @@golflessons haha, I didn't mean to imply that you got the drill from him 😁. I just think it's interesting that this drill produces such a nice shot and his whole system is built around being in the left side and maintaining stillness. It makes me wonder why more people aren't doing it.

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  Před 6 lety

      That is because the golf industry still thinks we are defective and need to be fixed while we KNOW that the human machine is perfectly made both physically and mentally to perform these simple tasks and finally, guys like Brandel Chamblee and Sean Foley from the mainstream are realising some important things!

    • @golflessons

      For many it can be; and feet together can be the one for many as well! They are tied for the lead in so far as keeping the centre of gravity in place!
