So I had to laugh on the Follow Me examples. My New Mavic Air actually decided earlier tonight that it knew better than me and Blacked out my iPad and then no signal, it shot straight up like a bullet and decided to go East. I was hustling to. Finally after giving up on the sticks I got it in RTH mode and after about 2500 ft away it came back and did a perfect landing. No Idea what happened or why it finally came back but scared the holy crap out of me to see 1000.00 going off on it's way. New battery and still dead and finally everything went back to normal and I had no more problems. Had 3 P3SE Fly Away about 2 years ago and I found it in a Corn field. Took it right back and replaced it. This was worse. So I get the Fly Away, doesn't matter how much or why, happens to the best of us. Trying to decide what to do next, not happy for sure. Thanks for sharing the uh oh moments with us Steve. Good to know it happens to you too.
To swap controller mode back to normal...
Hold down the Speed button, on top left corner of the controller, while you switch it on.
This toggles control layout mode A/B.

Captain I so glad you let us see that follow me!It has been almost a normal experience for drones I have shelled out for would be good but it had bit of crazy in it DNA I think that very fast rate of flight is a indicator of what's to come Tree Loven Drone!
Maybe they should change the name of the feature from "Follow me" to "Fly away from me".

Good review as always, Cap'n. I noticed that little bit of jello, too, but actually, for the price, the camera is decent, it flies fast and that case is a real plus. It's only $20 more for a second battery, and while there are some issues, all things considered it might be satisfactory for some beginners.
Have you ever had a Dji battery swell up after the six plus months. Just curious never happened to me. But hear of it on forums and you tube. Also. When you store your Dji drones for the winter ❄️ Do you take the battery off the drone or leave it attached ???
I have had 3 Mavic batteries slightly swell. Still useable.
Update, found out the proper way to change stick modes.
Turn off controller, hold down the rate mode button, turn on power switch still holding down the rate button. Once on push up down on any stick where you want throttle to be, it should beep 3 times once done correctly.

thank you for this video it's clear it's accurate so I bought this drone it works fine but I noticed that on the remote to synchronize the drone and the remote before I had to use the left joystick and since a some time I have to take the site right I add also that to have videos in 1080 it is absolutely necessary to use the SD card in the camera
Very good Price, in one or two Years we have a 4k Model for this Price.
If anyone have a problem for wifi drone is not detected, try to turn on your Air plan mode on your device, and try to search again for the Wi-Fi drone. It's will be working if your mobile already support dual band Wi-Fi. Have a try bro!!
The fly-away in 'Follow Me' problem seems endemic. Not only you but also at least one other reviewer has had this problem. I have two of these because I broke the first one on its first flight due to fly-away. I bought a second XK X1 because I want to like this great looking drone. First time trying Follow Me on second flight it took off like a rocket about 045 degrees away from me. Found it on a hillside after about an hour search. No apparent damage. I would not advise buying this drone until WLtoys debugs their program. If you have one of these do not use Follow Me.i

Can the camera be changed so it is NOT wide angle? I would prefer to be able to have a choice between wide angle and normal. Whatever normal means -- I guess 120 degrees is wide angle? I just want the horizon to not look like the earth is visibly curved at drone altitudes.
My guess is that they only sell one camera version for this drone. Option would be to attach your own micro cam with a more narrow view.
It would be great to see a video on low cost drones specifically for sports like hiking or mountain biking where they can follow you up and down hills.

Good review CD! Looks like a pretty decent camera drone for < $150US. Too bad about the jello though, although I think if you got some 3 bladed props, that would stabilize it quite a bit (at least it did when I had my Phantom.) Hopefully it's compatible with Phantom blades so that you can get a set of self tightening ones and dispense with that screwdriver nonsense.

Hey, loved this video, you answered every question i had about this. So i have the phantom 3 4k, the one tht has wifi and not lightbridge. I have video signal loss and interference at about 150 feet (so little). Was wondering whether a common wifi range extender like and argtek would be a good idea, those parabolic antenna attachments do nothing btw.
Sounds like you are flying in an area with plenty of interference. Fly elsewhere and you'll get plenty of range. Also, you could just place a strip of aluminum foil behind your antennas so that the signals get captured and bounced back to your antennas.

Are you sure your phone has WIFI 802.11ac? If so, then you just power on the drone and then go to the wifi on your phone and look for the drone, then connect to it. After you are connected open the App.

@@Glenrsi For all low cost drones that you do not plug your phone into the controller with a cable the answer is Yes. Now you can fly with no phone but you won't get video or flight features.

Very similar indeed...however the X1 has a better mounted gimbal than the Aircus, thus delivering smoother footage. Many Aircus owners are modifying the gimbal mount to make it more secure to the aircraft body...improving its video quality with good results 👍

There is this drone (X1) and the X9 Heron. You'd have to go up in price if you wanted good quality video with a 3 axis gimbal.

Nice videos as always. Good to see that the china brands drone are getting better and near to dji standards these days. Only if the can perfect the software side and fine tuning of the camera, then it will be a rival to dji. But considering the price it is a really good bargain 😁

This drone is much too small in size. Also, you have to remember that if you remove a camera and replace it with something else, how would you then see the video feed?

Looks a lot like the JJRC X6 Aircus. The controller looks better. Gimble looks better too. Good video. Looks like I now have an alternative to recommending the X6 which is a good drone but JJRC's customer service is shite. This drone is priced right. I flew mode 2 so much, mode 1 would make me crash on landings so my friends that flew planes on mode 1 would let me fly but not take off or land.
I've been it a tree 3 times but only once a day. Check to see if that camera system will fit the X6 Aircus please.

First of all great intro music.. this is a nice drone for its size having a 2 axis gimbal. The app and the controller makes me want to ask if it's made by wl toys . I have an old wl 262 and the controller has the same setup with buttons minus the telemetry screen.

Nope, very very very different camera than on a DJI Phantom
it's well into 2020 now and i'm consider getting a drone.. this one strikes me as the one i've liked best for this price range.. but has anything better come along that maybe i'm missing.. so many makes and models out there and no local retail to really size them all up.. anyone have any suggestions? i really like the follow me feature (which i understand these don't do well with from reviews like this one) but maybe it's been fixed with newer model? really looking at under $200.. don't care about size/weight too much.
Since your budget seems low, go with the SG906 BEAST PRO or CSJX7 PRO

Hi Captain Drone. I know it's a long shot but I have a friend who has his XK X1 controller stuck in 'Mode 1' and needs help returning it to 'Mode 2'. How did you manage to change your controls back to 'Mode 2' please. Any help would be appreciated as I can't find anything in the User Manual about it. Many thanks :)

The next time I charge the battery for the drone, I'll have a look. it may be awhile because I don't plan on flying this drone for awhile since I have so many other drones to fly.
That looks just a tiny it like the phantom 4......in fact to someone that doesn’t know a lot about drones they could easily get tricked into thinking it is one. The video is decent but I could see some noticeable jello.

Hello captain drone. Excellent video it looks just the same as the jjrc aircus.the only thing I don't like its the remote control it looks cheap, the remote control of the aircus looks better. Have you seen ads of the new cfly faith it looks like the mavic air clone but its not on sale yet but it looks great 3 axis gimbal foldable o hope it gets on sale soon
I agree, the Cfly Faith looks great, there are already some, I think Vietnamese you tube videos on alredy. It will probably sold as a JJRC, like the Cfly Smart Pro = JJRC X7P. That one with a 2axis gimbal, optical flow and sonar. Looks like a competition to the Fiji A3 to me. Ordered one yesterday...

Good question. In my video I pushed buttons and caused it to swap left and right and I could not figure out how to get it back to the way I started, so I gave up.
No worries boa i have the ways how to fix it. It's simple. Just pust and hold the bottom for speed mode on the left hand corner, after that turned on the remote controller until mod is changing. Have a try :)
