Hip before feet. :P You felt "weird" when looking at your avatar because of the lack of hip tracking. It makes things a LOT smoother and natural. :) Some people actually claim that just a hip tracker is better than two feet. :)
I agree. I’m shocked that hip tracking isn’t mainstream yet. Not only is it needed for immersion, you need it as a second point of contact to determine if your leaning vs moving. It would also standardize locomotion by giving the body a point of orientation, ultimately limiting motion sickness.
@@nadaso8819 I mean, I would expect so, yeah. I would hope that with a single hip tracker that it would default to a sit animation (or something of that like) after you get so low, but if not, I guess I'm not entirely surprised...
Hip movement truly adds more expressiveness with posing and movement! Looking up vids and wondering if it's worthwhile to spend $265 (+tax) for a tracker & base station just for the hips tho as that is quite expensive. The phone option works but I'm not as fond of it.
For whatever it's worth, at least here in the U.S., those camera-style connectors are called 1/4"-20 screws, meaning 1/4 inch diameter and 20 threads per inch. This is also the same type of connector that the lighthouses use to attach to their wall-mounting brackets. It's a very common threading, which makes it a nice choice for compatibility. It would still definitely be nice if it came with some kind of adapter (or, better, yet, multiple types of adapters) for attaching to clothing, though, especially at HTC's excessive price point.
For my trackers, in the meantime, while waiting for my third-party straps to come, I have permanently tied mine to an old pair of shoes. I undid the laces almost all the way down, then sat the tracker on top, and threaded the shoelaces over and around my tracker and through the lace holes. It's just as stable as using straps.
Just letting you know that the point of the cradles is because if you plug the dongle on the back of the PC, the trackers can have hard time to connect to the dongle due to interference from the PC. With the cradles, you can keep the dongle away from the back of the PC.
if i buy the Vive Trackers it doesn't mean i really need to buy the BASESTATION. so in conclusion the BaseStation is just a Supporting Role to Track the Vive properly. (Sorry for my Poor english)
I use Vive headsets, vive knuckles, and vive trackers for full body mocap in my video game development. Then an iPhone for face mocap! Very versatile hardware!

What a review, I sure can't wait for someone who knows anything about trackers to review this. You got everything from, "I bought the old ones and never used them" 4:53. To the "And this thing, I don't know what this is. I've never set them up." 6:48 - 7:20. Has no idea what the quarter twenty bolt is: 7:45. Confused by steam vr: 8:47. Doesn't know how to calibrate: 9:25. Wish there were some kinda, you know, benchmarks in this review. Like it would be nice to see some empirical data about what makes this better than the other one. How's the jitter? What's the measured battery life? Etc.
ok so, I skimmed through a couple of your other vids and got here and seeing you greenscreen (or whatever) kick tht bad guy off the cliff and celebrate got me to subscribe- you had me at "hoo yeah! waaah!"
3:26 hey just a quick correction the one with the blue vive symbol is a 2.0 teacher. the original has a grey symbol on it with the exact same size if i’m not mistaken
Awesome to see you featured omotea for FBT example in Beat Saber and the shoutout to Naluluna for FeetSaber! 😃 Was interested to see if there were any tracking improvements compared to the 2018 trackers, but noticed you mentioned you haven't used the original ones 😅
May be a bit late but the previous tracker had issues with dongle interference, where, if you had multiple trackers/dongles they would conflict with each other so a common fix was either assigning different usb driver for each dongle or separating thing with a usb cable extensions. So I'm assuming HTC chose to address the issue by including the USB C cables with Dongle Cradles at a premium.
8:32 You can get the feet trackers much more secure and you only need to loop your shoestrings around the points sticking up on the trackers. Pay attention to where the charging port is pointing so you can still plug it in easily. Pull the center of the shoestring at the front tip of the shoe out to make loops, fit the tracker under the loops and tighten them back down. The tracker will be rock solid secure. I had already bought tracker belts and only needed the waist belt so far but I may use the small belts for knees or elbows I dunno yet.
i’m watching this right now because i wanna get 3 two for feet and one for waist and i needed help with how it works and if i shoudl buy them together or separate so this helped me
hello! you have a new subscriber! I came to your channel without knowing very well that it was a live tracker, although I am an Oculus Quest user, I have a project like Vtuber, in which I use a webcam for facial recognition, and a leapmotion with a support in my neck, which detects the movement of my hands when using a keyboard and mouse, joystick, or simply moving my hands while I speak! The software I use for all this is VSeeFace, highly recommended especially for the ability to activate facial gestures just by performing the gesture in question (for example the emotion of laughter or anger). Anyway, with the idea of going to the next level with my Vtuber avatar, I started following Zentreya, and I was very surprised to see that he uses full body tracking, suddenly he stops and turns, he starts playing the drums , it is so fluid that it seems incredible, I always wondered how he does it? researching I found that he was probably using these Vive devices. Do you happen to know what software I could use to move my avatar and use it within my streams like Zentreya does? And how many Vive would I need approximately? I leave you a video where you can see his follow-up in case you don't know him czcams.com/video/WVrW5B2D0Fg/video.html www.twitch.tv/zentreya

Well, won't be getting any of these trackers any time soon. There is only a couple worthwhile games that actually uses them - and I don't do Beat Saber. But watching your video it does give you quite a workout. Beat Saber needs to do an option for both hands and feet together. That would be quite an Aerobic workout.
If you find that 3D printed attachment parts don't hold well over time, before any suitable aftermarket parts arrive, DM me and we can try to machine something in aluminium.
