    Thanks very much Scott,
I got home and played this for about 3 hours. Amazing job on the aesthetic look, but even greater kudos on tightening everything up and the intonation up the fretboard is spot on. Beautiful job.
My grandfather on my mother's side gave this to my Mom for her birthday upon return from WWII. It's definitely staying in the family, and I'm passing it on to my son, who is also in the Army.
These guitars were built by women Luthiers during the war effort, and if you want a good book to read, check out "The Kalamazoo Gals" by John Thomas.
Truly appreciate the beautiful work. 👍👍

Beautiful repair work as always; you are a man of many talents, my dear sir. I know your forte is Rock playing but you’re fantastic with your fingerpicking as well!

Wow im almost speechless on your attention to detail and processes just Outstanding work !!! Scotty its pretty much a Luthiers rule that you dont critique other Luthiers work (at least it is to me ) and I would never do that to you and dont think anyone with this type of skillset would either ,everyone has thier own ways they do things ,im looking for the group now you mentioned

I get how some would never want to replace anything on a vintage guitar, because of value. But for me, it's about playability. My Kluson tuners has a bent G string winder. Yes, it still functions but I wanted straight tuners. So I purchased a new set of Kluson double line tuners and kept the old ones.
I also created a tight fitting plug for the adjustable saddle, out of Brazilian rosewood, to make it a non adjustable..lol.. But didn't glue it in, in case we wanted to revert back.
Great video. I always love your content.

You said FOLKWAY, Waterloo Canada. I've been there, incredible acoustics there. I bought a 72 335.

Amazing. Just picked up my 1943 L-00 that I rescued from the trash. She plays nice but needs a neck reset.

Another great job. I love that you don't "over restore" these old beauties. Just enough to make them healthy and playable into the future while keeping their earned scars and patina.

Outtasight my guitar guru friend. I love the old ones, especially when they have been restored by a guitar artist like yourself. I won't forget that rick about gluing down older guitar cracks that have curled at the edges.

Great repair work. I wouldn't say it sounds louder (could be recording parameters) but it certainly sounds more alive with better sustain and string definition.

Enjoyed both vid's, but my one Q is, did you lower the action by any other method other than lowering the saddle, and if so what were the final height measurements? Cheers!

    • @harpethguitar
      @harpethguitar  Před 2 měsíci

      Thank You!
Three things brought the action down: new saddle
      Neck straightening and taller frets.
Final measurement was about 3/32” (2.5mm)
