Bahnstrecke - Bremen to Oldenburg Review (remade) ~ Train Sim World 3

  • The Bremen to Oldenburg route is a classic example of a TSW route being far too short. This add-on only includes the 44 kilometres (or 27 miles) of track from Bremen Hauptbahnhof to Oldenburg Hauptbahnhof, but curiously, it's set in the late 2000s instead of the present day.
In my opinion, the add-on is (for want of a better word) saved by the included DB BR110.3 locomotive and N-Wagen coaches, which are very well-made. You also get the BR425 electric multiple unit and BR155 locomotive; the latter being in the blue 'Press' livery instead of Deutsche Bahn red.

9:41 The n-Wagen coaches are/were one of the most wide spread and wide used paassenger coaches that are still in use as they are one of the only widely available loco-hauled single decker regional train coaches. They were a staple of Regional traffic in Germany until the Doppelstockwagen and singeldecker EMUs an DMUs came around.

About the BR 155, I think the physics on the new one are slightly different. The taps increase the tractive force more slowly.

Actually, I eventually decided sod it, I will get it as it was on for half price, as for one I like the n-Wagen coaches. But I noticed that the Maintalbahn BR 642 now layers into the route, much better than the BR 612 (although the Westfrankenbahn livery)

I'm confused as to your negativity over this route. You overloaded the 110 locomotive on startup, you can watch the amp meter. The stock is also slow to stop because its very heavy and old, obviously a newer dmu/emu will be vastly more responsive. Length isn't something DTG consider a major factor in routes for TSW, console players want something 30-45mins at a time so this kinda ticks the boxes. TSC has spoilt us in this respect, and is still more realistic for those that want to be a train driver over a long route (IMO).

I am personally not fussed on getting this route as I technically have all the locomotives already (425 on Rhein-Ruhr and the Red 155), the 110.3 and n-Wagen being the Linke-Rheinstrecke varient, which actually gives you a decent run in the 110.3 from Koblenz to Mainz, vice versa, plus the timetable is not so tight. So, I am not really one for getting this route.

    Thank you for the video.
I think it is a great pity that the local coaches do not include 1st class. At the latest with the left Rhine line, 1st class would have been a matter of course. Instead, the trains only run with 2nd class.
Well, for me - as for you - the route is too expensive. It has the same signalling errors as Kassel-Würzburg and the Left Rhine Line, which I simply don't find tolerable.

I wasn't aware that there were any signaling errors on this route, maybe because I always drive with PZB disabled. Doesn't surprise me that Dovetail haven't fixed the issue (sometimes, I question why I still bother playing this game and supporting these developers).

Interesting point about the whistle on the 110. The sounds seem to date back to the old virtual railroads 103 from like 12 years ago.

Also, fun fact (at least on Xbox) the destination board on the n-wagen cab car keeps reseting when you set it to any destination

Unfortunately in lieu of manuals, it seems DTG finds it much easier to teach players how to drive each train in their preview streams I’ve noticed. Which can be super helpful but it can be hard when you need to go back to find out the one thing you’ve forgotten. In the preview stream for this route though Matt does talk about how to not overload the breaker. There’s also a sticker on the 110 dash telling you at what amount of power you blow the circuit. I wish we had manuals but let’s be honest when we do get them they rarely are helpful. I’ve learned far more from the DTG streams than any of the manuals.

At 14:00, I swear I’ve seen that office building somewhere else.. I think it was on Horshoe curve, oh and NY-Trenton and I think Boston sprinter, Oh yeah don’t forget Cajon Pass, and I think The Harlem line. It’s like Dovetail can’t stand to make new asset buildings. This builds look so out of place when they are in all these different countries.

That's understandable, but I think this is better value for money than the Niddertalbahn. Either way, it's best to wait for a sale.
