    Incredible! Best pond videos I've come across on CZcams. So informative and interesting to watch.
    The pond itself is an almighty size! The homeowners must be pleased?

    Advice ……. To get a great accuracy on being square use the 3-4-5 rule or multiples of that like 6-8-10. Or 15-20 -25 etc. The two small numbers are the left (4) and top line (3) and the larger number is the hypotenuse (5) Move line 3 until you get 5 measurement on the hypotenuse. Very easy to do, hard to explain

    I am always concerned that hedgehogs etc do not have anywhere to clamber out of these kind of ponds if they should happen to fall in...😢

    • @danielcampbell9874

      Maybe you should start a hedgehog swimming lesson channel?

      😆 one for the future!

    • @CrystalClearAquatics
      @CrystalClearAquatics  Před rokem +2

      You have good reason to be concerned- sadly many animals meet their demise in ponds. Hedgehogs are capable swimmers but need to be able to get out of the pond, so having rocks and other ramps positioned around the edges of a pond to help animals climb out is important. In this pond the edges are very shallow- 2” or so and there are a couple of convenient rocks/features that would allow a less abled climber to get out of the pond safely!

      Hi there! Thanks for watching and commenting-‘Washington sobe’? Am guessing that’s washing soap? If so no- doesn’t remove the pond sealant!! If it’s a different product I’d be interested to hear however!

    You should ALWAYS leave a spare draw wire in an installation such as yours

    • @CrystalClearAquatics
      @CrystalClearAquatics  Před 10 měsíci

      In general I’d agree-although in this particular build conduit lengths were very short with minimal curves and are very easy to rod if routing further cables in the future. However ‘do as I say, not as I do’!! And yes-leave spare pulling wires in conduits ALWAYS is very sound advice!

    • @CrystalClearAquatics
      @CrystalClearAquatics  Před rokem +1

      Thank you! The final part will be out in a week or so. The filtration is actually the upgraded screenmatic 145000 which has replaced the 140000. Same footprint but taller and a larger volume. It fits the concrete pad beautifully!

    Ponds coming along great now, pity slight delay from stone supplier but as you said used the time to build concrete base ,looking foward to seeing finished pond and paving. Also looking foward to finally seeing your own pond completed tho i have seen it from the fishes viewpoint. Ed i would still really appreciate your e mail .I desperately need help on which pump to buy to lift to my filter box 1.7 mts above the pond surface. Cheers

    Hello, love the vids, so much work on the drainage aspect. It's a beautiful spot. I'm having to retrofit a bog filter and intake bay for my 50 square metre pond - at great cost- total nightmare. Just wondering if you thought about these at the planning stage and rejected them, and why?

    If WD gets it off, then Big wipes(other brands available) will take it off as well. They work with expanding foam, silicone and construction glues, without any residue left on your hand..

    Edward, I have noted that most of the ponds that you've renovated do not utilized bottom drains. Just wondering why?

    • @CrystalClearAquatics
      @CrystalClearAquatics  Před rokem +1

      Hi there! Well noted and worth a mention: a well designed fish pond with a bottom drain will always have the ‘potential’ to be a more efficient filtration system vs a pump fed system-thats a fact. However there are many pitfalls and potential issues that can and do arise with bottom drain installations-chiefly leaking pipework/drains- that would be much more labour intensive to rectify then a comparable issue with a pump fed system. My pond builds tend to be a more balanced design, with emphasis on both aesthetics, planting and livestock-rather then an out an out fish/koi pond and as a result having the most efficient filtration system isn’t AS important-in this case ease of installation, maintenance and especially ease of resolving potential future issues (particularly so as I then tend to be involved in long term maintenance of ponds I build) is as important to me as ensuring the pond is maintained in a healthy and clear way.
      If the ultimate goal is a clear pond-(and why wouldn’t it be?!) I am entirely confident of doing so with a pump fed system and don’t have any of the potential headaches a gravity system would create.
      Thanks for watching and for commenting!

      Hi there, thanks for watching and commenting-and raising a good point. However if your continue to watch till the final ‘completion’ episode you’ll see that I do in fact highlight this important point (as I do in all builds) and add additional features to enable wildlife that may inadvertently enter the pond and struggle to get out of the pond!

    It's such a shame that you talk or should I say commentate too much. It's visual what you are doing, it's not radio. I just think you procrastinate too much on each section, for example the tampering of the cement base, ridiculous amount of time on that, the overflow, the squaring up, etc. Rather show us what you can do. Kind regards

    • @CrystalClearAquatics
      @CrystalClearAquatics  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Hey Bob, thanks for watching and commenting- you’re not the first (nor i’m sure the last) viewer to comment that I talk too much- as I always say; my wife would agree! However I get inundated with questions from people requiring MORE detail and step by step guidance on what I’m doing- these videos aren’t just to showcase my work but to provide some help and insight for those who wish to tackle building a pond for the first time and want help on all aspects and potential issues of a pond build- even something as simple as prepping a firm base for a filter tank/sub base! As for ‘procrastination’ not so sure I do this?! Definition of procrastination “ act of delaying or putting off tasks until the last minute, or past their deadline”…
