    Appreciate the honest advice about additives. Just watched a video recommending them and couldn’t help but wonder if they had a stake in these products. Now I know I can save a few bucks. Plus I know bacteria typically populate depending on available “food”, so why over-populate with an additive- your advice makes perfect sense.

    Hi, I am going to be a new homeowner with a brand new septic tank and field system installed. So I have been doing research on how to take care of this brand new system. Thanks for explaining the truth that additives can be either beneficial, detrimental, or unknown in effects. You are the only honest person I have seen on CZcams so far. One question i also have is why water conditioned water cannot be used in septic systems. It looks like my new house, all the well water is going through salt and conditioner filtration. The old homeowner said that it must be conditioned otherwise the sinks and toilets will be discolored. So all water, even the sprinkler water is being filtered through the filtration system. If you could please make a video on water conditioner, I would appreciate it!! Thanks!!! :)

    My husband adds brewers yeast to help with the bacteria. Should we stop doing this? Also does using Lysol toilet cleaners hurt the system.

    I moved into a home with a septic sewer. I had these flushable wipes that said they were biodegradable.
    I did not know I should not be flushing these down and flushed maybe 20 wipes before I completely stopped. This was a few months ago.
    I was wondering if a few like I flushed down causes bad issues or if it is more of people that use wipes instead of toilet paper?
    I was also wondering if the enzymes you buy in the store are the same as what a sewer company uses.
    I recently used roebic emergency since I did not ever put any enzymes in my sewer system in over a year. I have been hearing bubbling in the toilet 😔

    Is RidX good? Or am I just wasting my money? I pour half the box every month.

      We have not observed any significant reduction in solids from any of these products that can be purchased in retail stores.

    I dump 2lbs of copper sulfate in my tank twice a year to help kill tree 🌲🌳 roots. Am I harming my septic system?

    • @askthepumperdude
      @askthepumperdude  Před 3 lety +1

      No, copper sulfate is a septic safe root killer. You just want to make sure that you follow the manufacturer recommendations for the amount that you add based on the size of your tank. Thanks!

    Plumbers can't tell the difference between plastic coated baby wipes and modern wet wipes just by looking ( they sure as hell aren't grabbing them), these same guys will also tell you not to use dish soap on cast iron. (YOU CAN)

    if bacteria breaks stuff down, why do tanks need cleaning? Also, cottonelle breaks down pretty much like toilet paper and is listed on most city websites as safe.
