- I know you hear me say I'm excited alot and that's because I truly am and at the end of the day if we aren't moving might as well make this house as amazing as we possible can! Starting with a decent addition that will serve as additional entertainment space, office, and laundry space. I truly hope that this project brings you so much motivation, too, since we do plan to tackle a majority on our own I hope to show it's possible to do somethinglike this on a reasonable budget! ❤️

How exciting! You are not just jumping in ... you have thought and planned and know you have to take your time so neither one of you gets too stressed out. I encourage you to do a monthly plan to include meal planning, and grocery trips while creating a slush fund for unforeseen expenses. Involve your kids by encouraging them to keep their rooms tidy (beds made every day, no clothes, toys, etc. on the floor, take care of the dogs, etc., so they feel they are doing their part. I can't wait!!! You and Dylan deserve this.

Smart move not closing in the carport. A good covered outdoor space is invaluable. You'd miss it. I haven't watched your vids in a while. How exciting and will change your lives for sure. I will suggest if there's anything you really want to add but think it's to expensive do it anyway because later it's way more expensive. Trust me we found out the hard way when we had our home built.

Metal bldg is the best way to go. We live in a metal bardo and the inside is built out just like a regular home. We love it.
It depends on zoning. Metal buildings are not allowed where I live. They're considered too light in weight.

One needed heads up - your property taxes will go up - once you get the permit they will reappraise your home when it’s finished-ask me how I know 😮- they even included my chicken coop in tax bill which is a wooden shed type building my husband built 7 years ago- didn’t need a permit
It won't go up too much we already have the current shed listed because it's our laundry room and where the water heater goes 😅 at least I hope

considering the price for permits and everything, man what a great deal!!! I have been looking at metal buildings, there are a lot of people who make homes out of metal barn like buildings...I follow a family who had it made...I am so glad you are doing this, I suggested it a few months ago but then you were going to sell....this will not only give you space, it will increase the value of your home, AND just look at the content for your channel as you and your husband build and learn together....a wonder addition, don't forget your work out equipment!!!!! you need room for that too!!

When we remodeled our basement (down to the walls where we added in studs/drywall and all new ceiling etc) that cost us about 14,000 🫠 but you are going about it in a good way! 💙💙💙Your gonna love it! We put a studio and built decks all around it. We had drywall and electrical along with a split unit ac/heat we laid the flooring used that water proof stuff looks like wood it added 400 sq feet to our property! Also added 30k in value to house! It works out good for when guest come! You will use it 💯 percent im excited for you! We spent about 20k but, well worth it! We do have a huge barn for all storage and yard equipment. 💙💙💙

What about getting the water hooked up inside for the washer? This is what my husband wants up the hill from our house. We had it cleared to get a drilling rig for a well. And we can’t get anyone to come dig us a well. But we have a big clear spot. My husband built a little shed behind our house. And that cost around $500. So there’s no way he’s building something bigger up the hill. We’ll be broke. And it’s hard enough to get up our driveway just to our house. And that spot is another hundred feet up the hill. I can’t wait to see it when it’s done. And all the rest of it. I may show it to my husband, but I may not. I can’t see a cement truck getting up the hill.

So exciting! I think you got a smoking deal. My husband paid 10k for his 20x30 garage and that was just the building. He paid someone else to do the concrete, had to drive from Arizona to California to pick it up and do the permit by himself. Also built it himself with the help of my dad and a couple good friends. 😅 It was quite the process.

Hi Karrie: So happy for you and the family. I wondered if you thought about getting a quotes from any other companies. The usual practice is to get three quotes. You just don't know what all is out there. I'm sure you have already signed a contract so it's most likely to late to do anything about it. But as you move forward with design and the remaining work to be done don't hesitate to look around and price things out with more than one vendor. Good luck on your endeavors. I'm looking forward to seeing all the progress you and the hubby do over the coming weeks.
