The Duke’s Swoon-Worthy Speech to the Queen | Bridgerton
/ netflixuk
The eight close-knit siblings of the Bridgerton family look for love and happiness in London high society. Inspired by Julia Quinn's bestselling novels. - Zábava
_💕The young lady flatters me, but it was not love at first sight for either of us. There was attraction, certainly, at least on my part. But Miss Bridgerton thought me presumptuous, arrogant, insincere. All fair, really. And I thought her a prim young lady barely out of leading strings. Not to mention the sister of my best friend, and so romance was entirely out of the question for both of us. But in so removing it, we found something far greater. We found friendship. You see, Miss Bridgerton and I have been fooling all of Mayfair for quite some time. We have fooled them into thinking we are courting… when really, all along, we simply enjoyed each other’s company so much we could not stay away from one another. I have never been a man that much enjoyed flirting, or chatting, or, indeed, talking at all. But with Daphne…Miss Bridgerton… conversation has always been easy. Her laughter brings me joy. To meet a beautiful woman is one thing, but to meet your best friend in the most beautiful of women is something entirely apart. And it is with my sincerest apologies, I must say it took the Prince coming along for me to realise I did not want Miss Bridgerton to only be my friend, I wanted her to be my wife. I want her to be my wife. And so I plead with you… not to make us wait.💕_
Well, they just made my list of 'Favourite TV Couples'. 😍❤️
Yep, even though Simon and Daphne aren't without their issues, and he DID withhold some crucial information from her, you wish that someone would talk about you with all the ardent fondness that he talks about Daphne! 💖💘👫
Netflix everyone involved in this most awesome series. Please stay in track. Follow the books. The series is so much more then I thought it would be. Loved it so. Our four grown daughters who have never read the books are in love with the Bridgertons. Thank you for the series.....S.G.
Why won’t CZcams let me copy this beautiful love letter 💌 so I can post it on my vision board
the most touching speech ever . Duke done it superbly . so talented
He spoke and now I'm pregnant. Triplets.

Congratulations! 👶👶👶
Shit.... I'm pregnant.... and I'm a man

😂
The queens response to his speech makes so much more sense now that I know her backstory
I was thinking the SAME thing! 💔
RIGHT it really hits different you can see her relate to what he's saying
Ikr! She could smell the bullshit Daphne was spouting from a mile away and would’ve sent them both away without a second thought. It’s only when the Duke overcomes his stubborn pride and pours his heart and all his affection for Daphne for the entire court to see that she decides to approve the marriage. The queen understands more than anyone how friendship and mutual respect and commitment are essential to any successful marriage and desired to seem that same commitment from the pair in front of her. Awesome! ❤️
Same here. I think the moment the duke spoke she recognized something, something she herself once experienced.
I love Golda's acting here. Really showed the softness underneath the prickly exterior. And now that we've seen QC, this scene hits differently. Charlotte loves love because love is the only thing that's sustained her through some very trying times in her marriage.
getting married to a handsome man and becoming a duchess? That’s great. But having your fiance look the QUEEN of england in the FACE and say “but to find your best friend in the most beautiful of women is something entirely apart” 😭 how is daphne still breATHING. Their kids won’t be able to top this.
I loved the way Violet, Daph’s mom, reacted while he was giving his speech. She looked the way I felt
How is a black woman the queen of England?
@@kaddieA Daphne’s Mom, Violet trained her so well, Daphne is strong willed in 1813, a great conversationalist, funny, artistic, with a beautiful, heart shaped, delicate face.
@@DBox3591 I agree, and I love her. I don’t understand some of the Daphne-hate on the wider part of the Internet. I think there are a lot of women who have been raised by kind, not prudish but not entirely open either, mothers and who would have similar limited knowledge about sexual relations.
@@user-dd7ms7vm9v ... because Queen Charlotte WAS a Beautiful African/German Queen. please research HISTORY not just "his story". LOL.
Charlotte, who was born May 19, 1744, was the youngest daughter of Duke Carl Ludwig Friedrich of Mecklenburg-Strelitz and Princess Elisabeth Albertine of Saxe-Hildburghausen. ... And, thus, Charlotte had African blood from both families.
Prince Harry and Megan got engaged on Queen Charlotte's birthday (Nov 17th and was married on the day she joined the ancestors (May 19th) BLACK IS KING!!! :-)
Whoever wrote the dialogues of this scene just 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🥰
I agree. Kudos to the writers...and to Rege Jean Page for executing those wonderful words beautifully 👍🏼👍🏼
Imagine he went off script and spoke from the heart😭❤️
Yeah this is sweet and it’s not in the book.
Literalllyyyyy. If I were her... I wouldn’t know wtf to do after that.

What girls really want: Duke from Bridgerton yes pls

Yes love 150% with everything you have or not at all.
the duke of hastings sets women's standards for love eVEN HIGHER DAMN
@@zu3147 frankly as a woman i wouldnt mind giving a speech like that about a man i felt 1000% strongly about. Then all the women would have a standard to live up to by THEIR fellas. Imagine that. I am thinking men have every right to expect grand gestures as much as us gals.🤣
JKK definitely!!!
Be worthy of this energy.
Daphne and Simon have their issues. They had many problems but this one scene was their BEST. The heartfelt way he speaks, the look of surprised pleasure on her face, every bit was GOLD. “To meet a beautiful woman is one thing, but to meet your best friend in the most beautiful of women is something entirely apart” SWOOOONNNNNNN 😍😍😍😍
I agree❗️
I agree! Her mother appreciated his words as much as Daphne did❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹
Indeed 🥰🌹🐝
"do you wish to marry this man?" are you kidding me queen? She BURNS for him
I know right. What a question (😂🤣😂🤣)
haha true, but often women were forced into marriages they didn't want so it's great of the Queen that Simon's wish to make Daphne his wife alone is not enough for her, Daphne has a say.☺️
Oh yeah
And they burn for each other. I’ve never been so lonely
Lol😂
Lol right?
😂😂😂
OH, I FELT THE **BURN** FROM FIRST ENCOUNTER!!!!!!!!!
Lol pretty much
Such a beautiful scene when he says “I wanted her to be my wife....I want her to be my wife so please, don’t make us wait.” Heart bursted!
That's my part. When he says that the second time "I want her to be my wife." That is the line. Love It!
This was the proposal she wanted 😍
If he had said that whilst looking at her, that would have killed me😍😍😍😍😍
Right!!!!!
ahh this scene was so meaningful and important, and it's even more impactful when you factor in simon's long-standing issues with his stammer. this is not really touched upon much after episode 2 in the show (as they had a lot of things going on), but in the book, Simon's stammer never really went away fully, and that was part of the reason why he avoided social gatherings as well. The book notes (through dialoguing) that in stressful times, the stammer comes out, forcing Simon to pause and take active steps to regain his verbal footing. To be clear, this speech to the queen does NOT exist in the books, but I think it's a wonderful and necessary addition. Simon's confession to the queen is not only romantic but also an indication of how being with Daphne gives him the comfort of having someone to talk to and having that conversation be easy. He's really a dude who had resigned himself to a life of loneliness - a decision that was very much trauma-informed, but his decision nonetheless. And hearing him declare to the queen of all people that he has found someone who brings him joy... makes me emo lol.
Your comments r spot on he even stutters a bit while talking to the queen
That’s deep. He was only able to speak clearly when talking about Daphne or being with her
I’m so happy Daphne found and read those letters! Made all the difference in the world...
That is a speech, excellent!❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹
Oh waow I see this again is another important angle some of us had no idea about...
This scene was one of the most epic narrative in all Bridgerton episodes! The way the Duke reveals the truth was simply flawless!!
He basically said he loved her but without saying the three words but I must say this speech beat out the three words 🤯🤯 can u BELIEVE that!!!
@@aferak145 Put those three words to shame!

The way her mom held on to Lady Danbury hands. Touching speech
She was feeling what I felt. That speech was breathtaking.
I didn't notice that. I'll have to check it out. My eyes were pretty much glued to Simon along with Daphne's responses.
It was everything a mother could want ...especially since he had experienced it herself...
If Simon had looked into Daphne’s eyes, while saying those things... she would’ve dropped five babies, right there on the spot. Phoebe Dynevor’s talents are on FULL display in those - I’ll say it for the thousandth time - soft, beautiful eyes.😍
I AM LAUGHING SO HARD AT THIS COMMENT BUT YES HER EYES ARE EVERYTHING
😂😂😂😂
Hell, I dropped 5 babies watching it!
She was so taken in couldn't utter a word
Yes. That girl could use her face to tell a whole story.
Daphne is just like "WHAT are you doing?? That was not part of the plan!" but then her heart melts 😭 and so do ours
Let's be honest: everything about him is swoon-worthy ❤
Best Comment Ever 😍😍😍😍
Amen! ^^

Truth 😍❤❤
Lie not detected!
This scene with Rege-Jean as Simon is impecable, but the Oscar goes to Golda Rosheuvel. What a sad eyes and voice when she talks about friendship. Simply sublime.
The pain she had on her face with the dinner with the King was absolutely superb! You could really feel her character’s emotions, and almost feel exactly what Queen Charlotte must have felt back then with a husband who was losing his mind.
Rege-Jean Page just became my new, certified TV crush! 😍📺 2021 is already looking brighter than ever! 😍😎

Mine, too. I've watched this series four times. That's enough for now, but I'm sure I'll watch it again before long. Now I'm watching _For the People._ Can't get enough of this guy! I'm almost thankful I'm a widow and don't have to explain myself to my husband. LOL
I'm still crushing on him too! I totally missed Rege-Jean in "Sylvie's Love". I had to go back and look for him... and there he was. 😍 😍 😍
This scene was everything
Hi
The queens words “even if that foundation is to crumble as quickly as it is built “ Love is courage. The understanding that you’ll give your best shot even though there’s no certainty it will last. Simons words waxed poetic. But the queens words solidified everything he was knowingly committing to. Just brilliant
"To meet a beautiful woman is one thing. But to meet your best friend in the most beautiful of women is entirely apart" ❤️
Ah, Simon is such a gentleman. He won’t let Daphne do the hard work, lying to the Queen when he can effortlessly convince the Queen, by just speaking the truth.
"we simply enjoyed each other’s company so much we could not stay away from one another...." If you have ever been lucky enough to fall in love, and know you are falling, this is so much of its beginning. If you are ever lucky enough to fall in love and have the object of your affection willing to catch you...keep you.....then there is no ending.
Are you married
As a guy, I absolutely love the Duke. Here, he is straightforward and how could you not like him? I just wish somebody could have talked to him and simply told him you can be a different father than your own one was, which I think is hinted at in his friendship with his boxing friend Will Mondrich, especially when he smiles at his family while lifting his child. He's noble for not wanting to carry on the lineage of his terrible father but he has to realize he can also create a whole new one and change the meaning of his name too.
Soppy
Beautiful 😊
Facts bro
This speech was so romantic and Regé-Jean Page is just so attractive 😍.
“Everything I told the queen was true.”♥️
The look on Daphne face when she finally heard Simon feelings for her. Nobody can tell me Daphne didn't wanna kiss Simon at that moment. Number one show on Netflix 👊🏿👊🏿
“at least on my part” OH BELIEVE ME ITS NOT JUST ON YOUR PART
Next Halloween you Daphne me a blue eyed Simon.
Oh, man! I would love to have been in the room with everyone after Rege-Jean finished that speech. I imagine when the director said "cut!", the entire room exploded into applause. I felt all of that poignancy.
BTW, the queen's gown is outstanding.
What a fine man...
Yeah...my thoughts exactly...
I amso inlove with this show. Season 1 is the best so far. I wait to see others❤. He is the perfect pick for The Duke Hasting
The BEST SCENE beside the art watching hand touching scene, and I burn for you scene and- forget it. All the scene with Simon and Daphne is the best scene.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣My thought exactly😁
Yes absolutely!
Nothing in season 2 could top this scene 😭
This scene hits so differently after seeing Queen Charlotte. Golda's acting is amazing here, as is RJP's. You realize Charlotte ships a real love story more than anyone in the Ton, because love is the only thing that's kept her strong through some very trying times in her marriage. Beautifully done scene and still the most romantic declaration of love in the Bridgerverse.
The Queen always gives the ladies the choice just as the King gave the choice to her. Still one crown 😢😢😢😢😢
The queen understanding Daphne & Simon's love because of their friendship and Kate & Anthony's because of their dance at the Featherington Ball, reminding her old days of love with George ❤ 2:55
Season 1 will always be the best season.

Have to agree. There is something magical about Season 1
Season 2 is a mess, compared with Season 1.

I was more shook than Daphne, watching the scene on the app on my phone at work, and when he finished was like, “Omg Simon, you’re going the honest route, yes, get. it. Simon.”
The best speech ever!
My fav character is the Queen. She is so sassy.
yep, and, sexily gansta in her own way!!!!!!
Simon: But with Daphne, Ms. Bridgerton, conversation has always been easy.😱
It’s the way he says Daphe... it’s beautiful.
just goes to show that manners and kindness and honesty are the sexiest most romantic quality's to have in a partner
The best time to have this fanciful and beyond beautiful series.Shonda is brilliant in her choices!
"...We found something far greater, friendship." *swoon*
Hearing a man say in public that he wants you to be his wife is enough to make any woman melt.
It was telling Simon saying what is in his heart without saying how much he loved Daphne
When Daphne said "it's just only that we love each other so very much" and then the queen sigh* made me laugh. Like come on! Girl , I heard that many times!! Haha
I agree. If it was that same speech, they would have lost the special licence. Lady Danbury is so proud of her boy and was not surprised to hear such speech from him.
Lady Bridgerton holding onto Lady Danbury is all of us during this scene
When I first saw this and he was like “ IT WAS NOT LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT”. I was like WTF R U DOING! Ur gonna mess it up!
And after his speech I was all.... tHaT wAs bEaTifull🥺
The Best scene ever in the history of love stories. Those words filled my eyes up with tears, every time I watched it. I don't think the rest of the seasons will be able to live up to season 1. This will be fine because at least we have season 1 episodes 1-8 to re-live over and over and over again. I can't get enough of it!
My heart 🥲😭😭😢😢🤌💖💕💞💞...I LOVE them so much
Im not sure which scene i loved more, this one or the daphne in the rain scene in the final episode where she gave Simon her speech
I really like the way the queen pertained she’s not the one who made that decision
How is she still standing after that speech it's beyond me!
Next Halloween you Daphne me a blue eyed Simon.
This is the reason why I can’t get enough of this show. Romantic scenes 😍(yes)...not going to lie but these lines are the best I heard in a long time. Wow❗️
I have seen this video many times, every day. My favorite scene along with Daphne's declaration of love to Simon at the end of the series
I am not the type of person that cries easily, especially when it comes to movies and series, but something about this scene made me so emotional. He perfectly described how their relationship was built and when he said Daphne it was as if he was confessing his love to her and not just to convince the queen they are in love. He finally admitted to himself, how he truly feels about her and he couldnt have said it in more of a perfect way. Thats what makes this scene just perfect.
Exactly!!
...can you find a single milisecond you would wish to change in this scene. The subtle nuances of expression...watch Simon's face as Daphne initially explains and then, as he interrupts and jumps in. Watch her facial expressions....his commitment in his candid comments. Notice how her Mother reaches out to Lady DanBury and rests her hand on her arm. This is simply superb acting...taking it to a level of true ownership of character. They enrobe and give life to these characters like a second skin. Watch the Queen's expressions...so subtle as she talks of a friendship she and her husband had and have lost to his madness. This is not simply a Netflix drama...this is a masters class of actors. I believe this is what draws us back...and will continue to draw us back to this series. Perfection. Superb. Their hard work and enjoyment - simply stunning. Stunning on all levels.
The scene is PERFECTION.
Season 1 was a masterpiece.
This scene gives me chills 🥲❤️🥲❤️
This speech had me, the one from Simon...Mic drop! Feelings
Regé-Jean Page. “He’s one of those old-school actors,” says Kirby. “He can sing, he can dance, he can act, he can do it all. He writes. He’s just an artist. It’s not so common to come across real artists, especially in our generation.” (Excerpt from an article).
Ah Yes! I'm here for my daily dose of Bridgerton. New heights of obsession have now been achieved. Congratulations Netflix!!!
We found friendship. Gives me the chills
The way they say their names Simon & Daphne is such great acting along with their facial expressions. To beautiful young actors but also they picked some who have acting chops not just pretty faces.
An incredible actor!
Holy mackerel, what a beautiful speech! Thoroughly convincing for the characters, and viewers as well. Wonderfully acted by all concerned; not a wasted word, gesture, or look. The writing, direction, and editing were immaculate. All of this capped off by Kris Bowers emotional underscore.
The only other time I've seen a comparable and so moving expression of love from one character to another was 'Somewhere In Time'.
Although I may be as far from this show's demographic as one could get, it completely charmed and touched me. Idealistically, 'Bridgerton' conveys everything I've always wanted to see in series and movies. It is unique.
Everyone, every single individual should be proud of this entertaining and special program they've been involved in creating.
