Philips isn't a flop. Man, that CDM role for City is a herculean task to learn. Took Rodri two season while playing almost all games to be good at it. Philips has hardly played. I think Pep has an issue with him because he came knowing he wasn't getting a starting spot immediately and decided to relax. And that's why he insists on remaining at City to prove Pep wrong. Hope it works out for him. I honestly think playing Philips, Kovacic, and Nunes in that midfield can help Philips get back to his top form.

He had two decent games for Wolves last season, the rest of the time he was awful. Yes, he can dribble but his passing and decision making were awful and the Chelsea goal aside his shooting was embarrassing.

I think nunes has been brought in to link up with Kova/Phillips in that holding midfield role while Rodri will play further up the pitch, essentially Rodri is the Gundo Replacement because he has proven to have a goal instinct inside the box and outside the box

I want a Mancity jersey with Debruyne on it thanks. Our mid-field is awesome, better balanced and powerful. This is the reason the quadruple is so achievable with Nunes. We’ve won matches with lesser midfield options seasons past. Now we have 4 good dms. Rodri, Kova, Philips and Nunes. The attacking midfield will always sort itself out wit Bernardo, Foden or Alavareza. Kova can also play high up and Rodri can also fill there as well. A midfield of Kovacic, Rodri and Nunes will be so hard to defeat, imagine it with Kevin in it. Crazy as well. We are more stronger.
