I don’t blame him. He very much wasn’t what we needed and was a victim of the board/president’s stupidity, but to say he wasn’t a shadow of his former self is not fair. Even in his last season, that was the griezmann we wanted. He put in the work despite not being world class, but it’s sad it took him so long to get going.

The main argument was that Messi played in the same free roam role, but I think a midfielder could easily be sacrificed because of how much grizzi and leo contributed in deep build up situations.

What many fans forget is, at that time Greizmann was also the 3rd best player in the world. Sometimes i wonder, if bartomeu was hired by real madrid to weaken barca. Signing a player for 120 million that is not even required in the team and when he is actually needed, sold him for merely 20 million. This kind of things happens. If you look at real Madrid they also bought Eden Hazard and he turned out to be a big flop. But the Real Madrid board and management make out a way to handle the problem. The young Vini got more chances in starting 11 and he grew up to a good player. Here I am not praising Real Madrid to humiliate Barca but I am just saying the truth. Barca could have managed things better than what has happened.

It is truly incredibe on how Griezmann managed to become among the league's best footballers. He used to be and still the face of Atletico, but sometimes it feels like Atletico is a big limitation to such a great player, the club rarely wins any silverware and cuz of that, Griezmann is NEVER talked about by anyone. Even in the recent light of the 22 wc in qatar, Griezmann had the MOST joint assists in the tournament and also created the most chances for his team. It is such a frustrating thing when people lend all the glory to Mbappe in the french squad, when Griezmann does all the dirty work in the back.

it always seemed to be, that after the very successfull neymar/suarez transfer combo, Barcelona just wanted to sign the players who had the best season, big names, "Meta" players.
Bringing in names was the top priority, instead of bringing what the team needed.
If Barca had signed up Rodri back then, it would've made a HUGE difference.
Griezmann was playing as a winger (i know he used to be a winger but things has changed bc his playstyle is a lil different now) he mostly wanted to play as a forward and the main man was Messi ofc that's why the likes of Coutinho flopped to bc he wasn't the main man but great video robby keep up the good work

I mean He played well during his seasons at Barca despite not winning much and they were able to recover part of his transfer fee when they resold him. Hazard on the other hand played almost no games, was always injured, and eventually retired meaning Real Madrid couldn't recover any money from his (club record) transfer fee or his wages. We had too many #10s on the team and no direct threat. Griezmann was just another #10 and he was never going to be an out and out striker. It was a great player for the wrong team at the wrong time

I remember them encouraging players (Coutinho, Dembélé,...) to strike their way to a transfer to them. I always found that very bad behavior that should not be rewarded. As a fan of any other club, I cannot thank Bartomeu enough for bringing this to an end.

Another problem during those seasons were that Piqué kept on playing even though his expiry date had passed 3 years ago. This guy retired 5 or 6 years too late. Kept on playing even on a single broken leg. He became such a liability to barcelona and they suffered comebacks in the Champions League because this clown was running out of gas after 60 minutes of football.

Griezman 🤝 Eden Hazard about robbing Spain teams
Antoinne Griezmann is just a footballer who was trabsfrered for an overpriced feed and played at qorld class level for 3 years at the club but who just didn't quite pan out that well as many had expected whom Barcelona was able to sell back for a substantial fraction of the prize they paid. Same for Dembele and Coutinho who was loaned to Bayern at a fee of €8.5m and eventually sold to Asyon Vulla for a few of €20m Barcelona being able to recover €28.5m from his transfer fee.
Eden Hazard on the other hand was an attacking midfielder who transferred for what is still a club record fee and was chronically injured, spent most of his time on the bench, and eventually retired after an uneventful late career without them being avle to recover ANY of the money from his transfer fee or his wages. Why doesn't anybody talk about that instead?

There are certain players that aren't made for Barcelona or at least, their position doesn't exit in the Barca system. Griezman and Coutinho were some of those players. If Griezman is to be in this current squad, he will have to play as a number 10, which naturally doesn't exist in Barca, or he will play as a right winger and be given the freedom to cut in, the freedom which I doubt Xavi will give him. The same way I feel Raphinha will do more damage to opposition if given more freedom to roam.

It makes me happy that many Barça fans think of Griezmann highly & his shortcomings wasn't due to his performances but mismanagement at the club. And that's exactly what happened. Griezmann had already been linked to Barcelona, but right after Liverpool came back to win 4-0 at Anfield, all the Griezmann rumors intensified because the media felt that Barcelona needed another player who can score goals if Messi & Suarez can't do so & Coutinho was made into a scapegoat. And Barcelona fans like myself bought into that. That's why they quickly loaned him out to Bayern. Tactically, the "MSG" front 3 was going to be a handful because one of them would have to play LW and none of them are comfortable playing there, and that's why Barcelona should have tried to sign a true LW instead of Griezmann, especially for 120 million. But this video hits the nail on the head: it's a robbery for everyone. Barcelona were robbed financially (thanks Bartomeu), they were robbed from having a great player like Griezmann in their squad after he left, & Griezmann was robbed himself of winning La Liga with Atletico Madrid in 2020/21 & two years of unfair scrutiny that also carried over into his first season back at Atletico.
