    Thanks Manuel for this great little rig and this video!
    I already tried this a few weeks ago, and it works fine on win10 with wsjt-x. I had FT8-QSOs with USA and Brazil (8000km) with only 3,5-4,5W (got it pre-assembled and only get 3,5W on 20m, probably have to tune it).
    I also had it running on Linux (Ubuntu20.4) but i gave it up there, because wsjt-x has problems there with the TS-480 config selection. I found out switching between yaesu-817 and TS-480 helps, but i have to do this several minutes until it finally randomly works.

      I´m not a Linux Guy, but Guido helped me out: in linux, you need to set the right COM port properties so that DTR does not keep flipping. From a terminal run: stty -F /dev/ttyUSB0 raw -echo -echoe -echoctl -hupcl -echoke 38400

    I'd find it very convenient if it was possible to disable PTT in software, so I wouldn't need a special cable.

    I have the exact same settings. I have the driver installed from your web page. My PC recognizes the device under ports COM CH340.
    When I push "Test CAT" the radio clicks, powers off and back on. CAT test fails. What am I doing wrong? I've tried multiple PCs. Multiple cables. Multiple USB hubs. COM 5 is the truSDX and COM 3 is my digirig sound card on my system.

    There are adapters that let users get the mike/speaker from an iPhone. Is there any digital-mode software that works with iPhones (or Android phones) and gives CAT plus the digital modes. The combination would be far more portable than any system involving a laptop. And echoing that tiny (tru)SDX screen on an iPhone would be marvelous for those of us with aging eyes.

  • @dangermandave67

    In Direwolf, the options to use PTT are RTS or DTR. Would these work with the signals that (tr)uSDX is sending to the COM port? Which one would I use? Or should I just use VOX? What I'm trying to do is operate APRS on the 30m band. I don't know whether I can do that successfully with only 5w, but let's see. I was in a discussion with the operator of an I-gate in Seattle who received my APRS signals sent from Utah with a 10w radio and he said that they were pretty weak. Maybe I'm going to have to use Robust Packet.

    • @dl2man
      @dl2man  Před rokem

      I have no clue, what direwolf is, but CW can be triggered by RTS (independent from key line). For PTT (on any other mode but CW) you should use CAT Command. 73 Manuel; DL2MAN

      @dangermandave67 Před rokem

      @@dl2man Direwolf is an APRS software modem. It sends and decodes AX.25 packets through a computer sound card. It can use VOX, but the radio needs to have a fast circuit for this. PTT is best. 73 de K7DMJ

If so: Uninstall them, restart your computer and try again. Make sure, you use only the CH340 driver linked on my Firmware page. We also saw problems with newer/older Versions.
