Love the channel. And the rotor coasters in the background!
Thanks 🙏🏾! My wife bought the coasters and I Love them! 😄😄
I really like your review. Practical and simple easy to understand but also very detailed. Thank you for you awesome work.
Thank you for your kind words 😀🙏🏾
Hi Cody! First off, awesome tee-shirt. Awesome review a usual man, great presentation. Man I love the fit, and finish. Great looking build quality. I love the price tag too!
🤣🤣 thank you, I was a big Scooby doo fan! Every now and then it’s nice to sit and watch an episode 😃. It’s a great sub, I love how tight and detailed the bass is! $500 is a great price!
I know it's kinda randomly asking but do anyone know a good place to stream newly released series online ?
Thank you for your nice 'calming' review. I was happy to hear your comparison with the QB12 as both are on my shortlist for a sub that is more suited to music..
Thank you 🙏🏾! Happy to help! 😁
Thank you for the review. Really like your voice BTW. I am planning for a dual small sub and have been searching high and low for SVS Sb 1000 Pro vs Qb 12, thank you so much for this direct comparison.
Happy to help! Don’t forget to subscribe and like 👍🏾!! 😁😁
Nice video, Cody. I found even in a small room (11’x16’ ish), having two SB-1000s made a really positive impact for both music and HT. That’s not a knock, a little sealed sub can only do so much. Two of them gives you a touch of the tactile experience you get from bigger subs and the whole system plays with a much greater sense of ease.
Yea I could see that being the case 😀
Another brilliant review👏
Thank you 🙏🏾
I’m getting mine in the mail today. Very excited to upgrade my sub
Awesome 👏🏾
#1 Your channel is underrated. #2 I have the PB-1000 and I'm genuinely surprised at what this sub can do for the money.
Strongly agree.
Thank you! Please share the videos 😀! Yes the pb is very nice, I’m planning to compare the PB and SB next so check back in a week or so for that video 😀.
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist will do my friend.
Great presentation,, hand gestures awesome, looks like you were in sales,,,, sweet moves Cody
🤷🏾♂️😆😆 thanks!
im looking for a sub that can play really low bass, mainly music. late 20s early 30s hz range, will this do it or is there something better out there around this price or preferably cheaper? great review!
if i have "R2850DB edifier" and i connect these speakers to this subwoofer with RCA cable and than i connect speakers at my PC with 3.5mm i need reciver?
Awesome
Hello sir! New to your channel, and I just wanted to comment on your great review. I'm waiting for my 1000 Pro to arrive and take the place of my ailing Sunfire True Subwoofer (the original OG circa 1997😄). And, as both a Scooby Doo and Marvel fan, it was equally awesome to see your shirt and that wall print 🙌🏾👍🏾!! I'm really looking forward to pairing this sub with my Definitive Technology StudioMonitor 450's. I also went with the gloss finish to match the DT end caps. I look forward to working my way around your channel and checking out more of your videos!
Awesome, I'm happy you found me. I recently review the Def Tech BP9000s (my first experience with the brand). Let me know what you think of the SB1000 Pro.
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist I did watch that fantastic video as well right after this one😀👍🏾! Yes, I too am a big Definitive Technology fan. They are high value great quality speakers! Sandy Gross helped create two awesome speaker companies in Polk Audio and Definitive Technology! Thanks for that review as well! Wishing you all the best, and will keep you posted on my thoughts on the SVS sub! It was waiting for me at the door when I arrived home this evening, so I’ll be setting it up this weekend😁🙌🏾👍🏾🙏🏾
🙌🏾🤣🤣 enjoy!
Hi what would be the best upgrade for my focal evo set? the SB1000 or Q Acoustics QB 12? Need deeper bass for movies. The atmos set is good enough for me but need more bass feeling. Great Channel!!
Thank you! If you want deeper bass between those two I’d go Q B12. But if you want an even better experience PB-1000
For a HT setup, you should go with PB series. I own dual PB2000 with RP6000F and SR8012. Ported subs are recommended for movies and sealed subs for music. The SB 1000 really shines when listening to music in a small to medium size room. If you have a bigger room and listen mainly to music, the SB 2000 Pro might be a better option with the app (rear panel design is like SB 3000).
Thanks for the suggestion!
how loud does it get at 20-25Hz at 1m? if it's able to reach 98dB it would be perfect for me!
I've been running a pair of these for about 3 years in a two channel stereo setup paired with LS50 speakers. Fantastic in a small to medium size room. Not as loud low as my PB-1000, but for music I feel these are ideal. For home theater, these may be a little underwhelming compared to ported larger subs in the same price range.
hi thankyou for your comment, i have been unable to decide between this and the pb for over a month now. mate in your opinion would one be compatible with an L.G. or Sony midi system? thankyou, i would appreciate your help if that's ok :)
@@azzabouy8243 you would need a bigger cabinet for a sealed sub. a SB4000 is probably what you would want but its also $1500. id go ported if i were you if youre going off of price - youll get better price/performance ratio for movies like the rumble effect if you like that.
@@garretts431 thank you for your reply mate, i'm new to this and wow the more i find out the more i realise how much more there is to learn. i appreciate you teaching me something else i didn't know :)
Great review. I just sent my JBL 120 back because it was way too large for my room and bought this instead for $140 more. I hope I made the right decision. I'm a little concerned that it doesn't sound great with movies though as that's one of the main reasons I wanted a sub. We'll see. Unfortunately, I don't have the budget to keep moving up their line.
Your spot on with the movies
Thanks!
Thank you for your review bro. I wanted to purchase q acoustics speakers 3050i along with one good sub for nice music and movies. I totally confused between svs sb 1000 pro and qb 12 . Please suggest me which one is best for my q acoustics speakers.
I haven't heard the 1000pro but I suspect it'll play deeper with more authority when compared to the QB12.
Another great review. Just curious what is your current sub or subs. Thanks
Thanks! My main sub is the Hsu Research VTF-2 MK5. Here’s my latest video on it: czcams.com/video/_fQuCtSyfuo/video.html
I love my sealed SVS. I will never go back to ported. And I watch mostly movies with mine.
I definitely understand not going back 😀😀
I'm with you, I prefer sealed subs overall; with movies or music. You just need the appropriate size sealed sub for HT duties.
Sealed is superior. Not low enough, need more size, more power, bigger drivers.
Um, you can get seals for the ported version, haha you guys bought the one trick pony!
Great review and I am primarily a music first person so with that being said what do you think about pairing the SB 1000 WITH Klipsch RP 600's in a Apartment??
I think that will work very well together. The SB1000 is a great sub and works very well with music.
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist Thank you for your response in a few weeks I will make a post in regards to the subwoofer and my RP 600's right now I am very very curious about how well they may match up also apparently if I make a purchase through SVS I'm elegible for a upgrade after a year and if it's true that is a goal thank you for a outstanding review.
Found your channel recently and I'm already a big fan! I'm currently setting up a relatively budget mixed use home theatre and music use sound system (yamaha rx-v6a connected to Q acoustics 3050i with potential upgrade to a 5.1 set up in future), but I'm struggling to choose between the SVS PB1000 and the SB1000 for the sub. The space it will be in is around 320ft², and I'll probably have a 50/50 mixed use between home theatre and music. Any thoughts on what may be the better choice?
Thanks for watching and don’t forget to subscribe if you haven’t already. 😁
That’s a reasonable sized space so I’d pick the pb. It’s a little bit larger than the sb but it play deeper with movies. Hopefully this helps!
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist Just realised I hadn't subscribed yet, done now! 👍
Thanks Cody, that's just the advice I needed go ahead with the PB1000 😀
Hi! Can I connect active speakers from RCA Out of this sub?
No I don’t think so
Is it plug into my flatscreen and play or do I need an amp for this? (I apologize if you covered this and I didn’t catch that part!)
Great review as always!
If your tv has a subwoofer out connection than it will work but otherwise you’ll need an Avr or similar.
Home Theater Hobbyist
Thank you.
Hi there, I need a little help. Which subwoofer is better? SB-1000, Paradigm Ultracube10 v1 or Monitor Audio Bronze W10?
I'm very confused. A friend borrow me the P Ultracube 10 and I'm very very impresed for you performance. Actually I have the polk hts10 and it is very boomy in comparsion with the PU10. The paradigm have a very strong and dry punch very accurate.
Tks.
Sorry I haven't heard the other two so I can't say which is better. 😞
Hi, can I stack two sb-1000 subs on the right side of my room.. which is 10x13… I don’t have room directly up front.. any help is welcome!
You can but you'll probably notice a lot of bass coming from that side of the room. Any distance you can put between the subs will help give your room more even bass throughout the seating positions.
I was stuck a little bit in the soundbar avr scenario, cant you connect your soundbar to the hdmi out like zone 2? Or yamaha avrs use optical out i can connect to that one right ? Big question is if the hdmi arc is connected to the reciever on the tv can i use the optical out on the tv? I am looking forward to your answer.
Wow! This is a goood question............ Here is the connection scenario I think will work. Blu-Ray connected to AVR --> HDMI ARC out to TV --> TV Optical Out to sound bar (playing the blu ray). I haven't had time to check this but I think it will work. 🤷🏾♂️😀
Thanks man like your vids, you the best.
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist thanks
Great videos Cody! Should I get this or move up to the 2000 series? I have a 5.1.2 setup with the pioneer Andrew Jones floor standing speakers. SVS recommends the 2000 series but I’m not sure
Thank you!! If your room is medium to large I'd go 2000. I like the 1000 series but the 2000 should play deeper with more detail and output. Also, don't forget SVS offers a 45 day free in home trial so try it and see if it will work.
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist I ended up buying the 2000 pro and SVS elevation speakers to replace the atmos modules. I plan on upgrading eventually to 5.1.4 now the question is where to place the elevation speakers.
😁😁 sounds like you’re heading for a fun day trying out different setups. 👍🏾
Hi, it's me again.
I've got the svs sb1000 subwoofer and
Denon SCN10 Speakers, Two-Way HiFi small speakers for my surround plus Q Acoustic 3090ci centre speaker. All linked to onkyo 5.2 receiver.
Please could you advise me on what CROSS OVER number setting should I select on the receiver? I'm not an audiophile though, just the basics to spice up my music and films in a very tight bedroom. Thanks in advance
Hi, I typically use a setting of 80Hz for crossover and set the speakers to “small”. The small setting tells the Avr to send the bass below the crossover setting to your subwoofer.
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist
Ok thank you
Hey man a small question wich subwoofer its better svs pb1000 svs sb1000 or bq12? Please little help to that
The sb1000 plays a little lower and it’s a little more compact when compared to the qb12.
Help me decide, I use JBL SP6 ceiling speakers with Denon 750 7.2 setup, I am planning to get dual PC 2000 Pro, are those subwoofers overkill the system, should I just choose SVS 1000 series instead. Thank you love your channel
E it total depends upon your room size and ur req , if u want to feel it in chestin the the room those kind of stuff
Hi E! First and foremost I haven’t heard the pc2000 so I can’t comment on sound quality. Overall I agree with Vinoth, it will depend on your room size, layout, and other constraints. As for output you can always reduce the volume to better match your speakers.
Hello and congratulations for your channel, it is a very useful channel for people like me.
I have a question. My budget is poor, so.... for music and movies, which is better the SB-1000 or Polk HTS10?
Tks a lot.... take care.
Hi, thank you for the kind comments 🙂. I haven’t tried the Polk so I have to default to the sub-1000
Great Scooby Doo shirt
😅 thanks!
Need to try the SB 3000
SB-3000 is a great subwoofer. So compact for the performance.
I believe that because the sb1000 is also very compact for its performance. 🙂
How does it compare to the RSL speedwoofer 10S?
Slightly more accurate since it's sealed but in terms of dB output it will definitely fall short of the Speedwoofer. Wirecutter actually compared them with CEA 2010 results: www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-subwoofer-for-home/. Given the fact that the Speedwoofer is $399 as opposed to $499 for the SB1000 I would definitely say that in terms of performance the Speedwoofer would be the better value.
Hey there!
I Currently have 2x Klipsch R-100SW
Would it be a reasonable upgrade to get 2x SVS SB-1000 ?
Hi 👋🏾, yes I think it will work well.
great sub
How would one set up to 78 db? Perhaps using a decibel meter? Do you put it on a or C?
Yes, use a db meter. Set to "C" weighted and "slow" for a better average result. Hopefully this helps!
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist It certainly does! Thank you!
Thanks for the info. Please do a contrast between the pb1000 & sb1000, particularly for movie watching mostly.
I’m working on it 😀
Wich is better mate? Also you believe bq12 its better from svs?
Did you end up doing that review? Thanks @@HomeTheaterHobbyist
Love your channel and videos, but hate it when review videos don't have sound demos. :( Nevertheless keep up the good work!
Thanks for the feedback! I don't remember why this one didn't have a sound demo but check out the SB 1000 vs PB1000 video that has a demo. czcams.com/video/13XhymcBeK8/video.html
Nice love the piano black gloss these are great subs I think I’ve started to like sealed subs more I just wish the frequency response on this sub was -3db 20hz instead of 24hz -3db
Then get the SB 2000 then ,it's not rocket science
@@shaundavidssd the sb 2000 pro is 799 which is a far cry from the 499 of this sub just saying wish it was better specs for the money when a rythmik l12 is 560 shipped and goes down to 14hz
@@danemoreno88 theres the sb1000 pro now which reaches those levels. go get it
@@garretts431 yea I seen it I ended up with dual rythmik l12’s instead
Scooby Doo! Love it :)
🤣
Good review but I think you were a little harsh with it's design, features and low end output. It's a great product aimed at a specific end user. Perhaps you could have suggested the pb1000 for those who value home theater a little more than music. 👍🏽
I ended the video saying it’s for music lovers but also I’m about to do a video comparing the pb1000 to the sb1000. In that video I’ll make my final recommendations. Great comment!
Golden question: How does this compare to the RSL Speedwoofer 10s?!
Great question! I really had fun with the speed woofer but I think the sb1000 probably plays a little deeper than the speed woofer 10s. I don't have the 10s anymore so I can't compare them but that is my best guess.
What's the use of speaker level in.
It’s often used with processors that don’t have a dedicated subwoofer output but have bass adjustments like crossover.
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist Ok Thank you. But my main point was if it doesn't have speaker level output, how to route high frequency to speaker. How is the connection made?
Would you give the newer one 5 out of 5. The SVS 1000 SB Pro which is 325w and 820+ watts peak power. Thank you Cody.
I actually haven't tried the Pro line so I can't say for certain, sorry.
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist: It probably would be a better Subwoofer which allows you to adjust the sound by using your phone. And a white SVS doesn't show your finger marks so much.
Hello! my friend. It is an excellent subwoofer. I really like your channel. hugs..
Hi 👋🏾! It’s a great sub especially for the price 😀. I pray you and your family are well!
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist Thank you! We're fine, yes😃👍🏻 ... Are you okay? friend.
Yes! We’re doing well!
Hi Cody, thanks for getting back to me the other time. I've bought the svs sb1000 and it's awesome.
I'm was using a 5 meter (16 feet 4.5 inches) RCA cable to connect sub to AV receiver via the pre-out as you've once advised. My mini home theatre really impressed everyone during my girlfriend birthday but I've realised the RAC cable was a bit shorter when trying to position subwoofer in a far corner in a large living/dinning room area where I could get the right bass output while keeping sub away from the visitors & kids. I've decided to buy another 5 meter RAC cable together with female adapter to join both cables and extend subwoofer, which gives me 10 meters as a total length. Manufacturer only do 5 metre as max.
My question is: Would using this 10 meter RAC cable have any effect on sub sound quality when sub is further away from receiver? I've got the choice to undo extension back to 5 meter.
The seller claimed because my subwoofer is a powered one it isn't relying on my AV receiver for amplifying except for signal data, therefore sound quality is very unlikely to be compromised when sub is at 10 meters or more away. This is unlike a passive subwoofer according to him. I just need your opinion on this please.
Please get back to me again bro. I'm located in England. Thanks in advance
Hi! As long as you purchased a decent cable with good shielding and good conduction you shouldn’t have any issues or signal degradation. To clarify when I say “decent” I mean a cable from a reputable source or HiFi store. It doesn’t have to expensive or exotic just well made at a reasonable price.
Thank you again. Like you've rightly mentioned about the RCA cable's quality. Yes, the RCA cable I've bought is of the highest quality based on 5 stars customers reviews from a reputable company that sells subwoofers and their accessories. The quality was immediately noticeable when bought plus it came with a few years warranty to return for full refund at a reasonable cost too.
Thank you and God bless you.
Which is better the pb or sb?
Working on a pb sb comparison, should be out soon.
Home Theater Hobbyist awesome thanks! I like your reviews very informative and detailed! I’m a recent subscriber and will stay for a very long time lol! Also, is there a big difference between the 1000 and the 2000?
I haven’t tried the latest 2000 series so I can’t say but I’ll request one.
If you still have the sb1000, try “Safari yangu” by Mahotella Queens and “Murder most Foul” by Bob Dylan.
Ok
just wondering, does it emphasize the strong points or show where it might be lacking?
azzabouy 82 both songs emphasize the subwoofers versatility.
@@HanifBarnwell okay, thankyou. i'm planning to buy one soon i will play those, thankyou
azzabouy 82 my friend has the 2000 Pro (sealed) if I had the money I’ll get 2 of those.
It needs a metal grill, i love the svs metal grills
😀
I feel a musical sub would be the way to go...I mean that movies do have ambiant music that make the scene complete. The thuds and punches are good to listen in a movie but are not there through out the movie.
Awesome video 👌👍 but not as good looking as the black ash
😀 it’s great that we have options!
It is!! Thanks for the reply my man 😄
Nice subwoofer but i think at this output level its overpriced
I agree. The cover is a let down.
Not weird at all. First thing i thought when i saw this sub was id never leave that ugly grill on.
appreciate you sir but this sub was a letdown for me
Hi. Can you expand on that at all? Much appreciated if so
First haha
😄😄
just a couple emojis? get this man a medal :)
20 Hz minimum. Not 24 Hz.
I want to hear the sub, not some fella banging on about it.
It’s a review, so not sure what you expected. Order one and listen to it in your home if you want to know what it sounds like. You can return it if you don’t like it
It's banging on. It's near worthless.
A sound demo would be far more useful.
Stikibits To each his own, but I don’t understand how a recording, made from an unknown mic position, of a subwoofer set up by somebody else, in a room that’s not yours, with a receiver and main speakers that likely are not the same as the ones you have, then played back through your speakers/headphones/TV/iPad will be any more useful. CZcams sound demos are a joke. I wasn’t being flippant; I really think if you want to know how it sounds, get one. SVS have a 45 day trial period
All the bullshit in the world will never be as useful as a sound demo.
You sure do bullshit a lot. It's why a sound demo is infinitely more useful.
Stikibits A sound demo is more useful because I bullshit a lot? Read that back to yourself and explain how that makes any sense. By your logic, I should buy my next car based on watching a CZcams video of somebody driving it around.
