Wow! And he's only 20!!! I just hope he stays injury free & motivated to stay in track & field because he could be the next big us sprinting star. N.B: Bahamas apparaently. Ncaa outdoor openers and Pro athlete openers are not the same thing tho! The pros don't really race indoors so it's their ''true'' openers. Ncaa athletes usually have already ran a lot of races since december. That's why they almost always ''open'' outdoor with fast times. (not saying he won't improve tho, but the pro's will defenitly improve more over the course of the season)

  • @willstuart4504
    @willstuart4504 Před rokem +5

    Yup.... been saying this for awhile now, even through all the Boling Hype, that it's Terrence Jones who's gonna be the Superstar in this sport.
    I mean, as soon we saw what the young man was able to do in the 60m last season, and then again this season on multiple occasions, it wasn't hard to imagine what his potential could be over the 100m and 200m events. Especially as a taller sprinter.
    Although, I don't really get "Bolt vibes" when watching Jones run... but I DO get Kerley vibes. 💪💪
    I see more of a power stride and explosiveness outta the blocks like Kerley... opposed to Bolt's incredible stride length and turnover, allowing him to finish races as Dominant as it's ever been done.
    Either way, I'm betting he's here to stay and we're just scratching the surface of Jones's true potential. And THAT... is a scary thought for all other Sprinters!!😨🔥🔥🔥 Give this young man 2 or 3 years of Pro training and experience.... yikes.

    • @Brave-828
      @Brave-828 Před rokem +3

      Great analysis, but I don’t think he is a 200m threat, especially when you consider the likes of Knighton, Tebogo, and Orogot. He may be tall but his explosiveness, common with great 60m runners, makes him a 100m guy not 200m. His last 200m race time was decent but he had visibly completely run out of gas

    • @willstuart4504
      @willstuart4504 Před rokem +2

      @@Brave-828 Good point. Sometimes you see these tall 100m guys that have success and assume they'll be a natural 200m runner... I think that's what I just did here.. lol And you're right... the 200m is stacked.
      Tbh, there's a ton of talent coming up thru the ranks rn.... a lot of very fast guys AND girls that are all looking to make that jump to Pros.
      Someone else I've been watching since she was 14 yrs old and i think she's finally on the cusp of becoming a real threat is Tamari Davis.
      She turned Pro so early on and didn't get the College experience or development, or the exposure, so she was kinda forgotten about for a couple years.
      Well she's back and reminding everyone WHY she was voted the Fastest Kid in America when she was only 14.
      She just missed making the 100m at Worlds last season.... but has run 10.8's consistently ever since. This season early she gave Abby Steiner all she could handle in the 200m, finishing a close 2nd at 22.3 in April.🔥🔥 I'm predicting she will be a FORCE sometime in the near future? Maybe even this season?? She's young but she's only getting better.

      Well in High school he was a 200 and 400 man, focusing on the 200 more than anything else. His coach liked him for the 100 and started training there. In saying that he hasn't run the 200 at all last season, because he was getting injured pretty often. For him to run 20.05 after not running the event in over a season says a lot.
      If he gets back into 200 training like before, he will be a threat in the 200, however I agree the 100 seems to be his better event at the moment.

    This young man is looking very dangerous to win the 100m if he goes to World's. I heard his coach say that he can't train as hard as others, but if he does look out world.

    Stop jumping the gun with your titles. Until some one beats every other top sprinter they are not the fastest man in the world. It is early in the season and some of the top sprinters have yet to run.

      I fully understand what your saying but give terrance his props, he is the fastest man in the world at the moment. That will eventually fall but for the time being let it be

      Lmao but he is the fastest man in the world this year. Until someone runs faster than a 9.91, he's the fastest man

    I feel weird calling any collegian's first outdoor meet a season opener. For most of the elite field, sure, they may have ran a couple indoor races. The collegians have been training with only small tapers for a while by the time they hit outdoor. They should be running faster.
