    It can be a good idea to use gauze to space out the fingers before taping them to make sure there is no undue stress on a fracture or any of the damaged tissue.

    I would just like to point out that it is generally advised to use guaze between the fingers to inhibit bacterial or fungal growth, unless you plan to remove the splint within 24 hours

    • @ApolloStarfall
      @ApolloStarfall Před 2 lety +1

      Oh and to clarify, buddy taping is a form of splint, but you're using the healthy finger as the splint

    I went to see a doctor who I had a bad experience with, like you said at least one week to back to normal (hopefully), but because I’m use my hand a lot as factory work where resembles products from all sorts of pieces put together to become one finishing product. I ask her how long do I need to off work for, she turned around to ask me ‘how many days do I want to be off work?’ Ask me, Really?! 🤷‍♀️
    Anyways, I hurt my middle finger at work but what the purpose of buddy taping with my index finger!?

    I fractured my ringer finger an the doctor taped it to my middle finger but i love this video super informative. How kong does a fracture take to heal tho?

    • @johnross7380
      @johnross7380 Před 2 lety +2

      It's probably too late now but it takes 3 weeks for a fracture to heal

    • @ApolloStarfall
      @ApolloStarfall Před rokem

      Not for OP, but anyone wondering lately.. it depends on the fracture. A finger, well administered, 2 or 3 weeks. A fractured tibia, several months, depending on which part and the severity. But generally, at best, a couple weeks, and, at worst, 8 months or so. For those longer heal times, physical therapy is a must, or even when the bone heals, you'll have a stiff, nonresponsive joint

    Fantastic ... I over twisted my rude (middle) finger. Due to the way I did it budding to my index is uncomfortable...plus it makes typing a @$#&#. So ring finger is my preferred option ..Thanks for the step by step !!

    Can a buddy tape be removed in 10 days. I have middle finger injury.

    • @ApolloStarfall
      @ApolloStarfall Před 2 lety +2

      Generally, yes. Between 1 and 2 weeks is the useful interval for buddy taping. It will still need 1-4 more weeks to heal fully, but you should be able to lightly use a broken finger by 2 or 3

      @@ApolloStarfall Should I sleep with the buddy tape on?

    • @ApolloStarfall
      @ApolloStarfall Před rokem +1

      @Kokushibo Descendant it depends on your sleeping situation. If you sleep alone and don't move much in your sleep, it could be a good time to let it breathe each night. If you normally toss and turn at night, or have a partner or a dog that does so, you may want to wait until you have better control of the situation

    I broke my ring finger knuckle. Why use two straps of tape if one feels strong and stable enough? Thank you?

    • @ApolloStarfall
      @ApolloStarfall Před 2 lety

      If you've actually broken the joint itself, I'd go see a doctor. It's much more complicated than just a digit

    • @sarahirfan29
      @sarahirfan29 Před 2 lety +1

      I had the same question as well, I have a lot of pain in my ring finger due to which I can't straighten it

    • @ApolloStarfall
      @ApolloStarfall Před 2 lety +1

      Yes. You want to make sure it's *mostly* straight. A 5 or 10 degree bend for comfort is fine, but if you leave your fingers curled for too long, the tendons and ligaments will contract, making it more difficult to straighten them once healed. This could easily require weeks or months of physical therapy. I know because I've been there
