My friend used to do that and pretend she wasn't hungry so her kids could have more.
I've done it in the odd occasion.
I did the same when my children were little, especially during the summers.... I'd munch down a ½ a pb&j on the way to waffle house or McDs si they could enjoy a little outing for waffles and syrup or nuggets & a Toy (I didn't need the fried foods anyway).
My oldest noticed at Buffet places, I'd just order soup &salad bar or chicken tenders off the kids menu; & I'd say I was dieting. But he had begun to have a man-size appetite & I'd rather see him ENJOY trying new things. I was just as happy with what i ordered.
Now things are different, and i can order what I want to eat when our family goes out. My boy is 22 and girl is 16. ♡ The little sacrifices us Mom's make are well worth it bc we are so in love with our precious children - ALWAYS!

I love how the name badge the real Erin Brockovich is wearing says 'Julia'. 😊. I love this film. My Mum loves this film. We take twice as long to watch it because it keeps getting stopped so we can discuss the story.

I was taught to say, "May I please have a ..." , but kids today are not taught manners.
